Grandissimo soprano Carmen Melis e fantastica insegnante.

Thanks for posting this I picked up a diamond disc from the thrift store with this song on it but I didn't have a phonograph to play it on.

Actually the Charleston on a cylinder player appears strange. The cylinder machine is a ragtime era or pre jazz device.

True, but the Edison Phonograph Company made cylinder phonographs and cylinders including some dance and early Jazz through October 1929. Admittedly the format was pretty much obsolete by then.

this is a replica the original was one of the last blue Amberols and a very good transfer of its electrically recorded diamond disc 1929 an original cylinder issue sold on eBay 20 years ago for $10,000- yup it's a rare one! I had a copy before this infamous eBay sale I still have it! a modern sale in 2023 would have a price between 12,000 and 15,00 dollars in theory so not a bad investment!

I have this song on the disc. I think I only paid like $5 for it at an antique shop. On the flip side of the song a speaker, I think, gives an introduction of the singers. Your recording is in better condition than mine I believe.

Yes, this is very nice. And this video gives you an idea of how loud those machines were, assuming the microphone is attached to the camera. People today have no idea how well that stuff worked when it was new. But the machine was obviously restored. The record is a little noisy compared to when new, but still very good.

Thank you Glenn. Yes the microphone is attached to the camera, about 12 -15 away from the camera. It's plenty loud for an average sized room for sure. The surface noise would also be reduced a good bit if I were to have closed the lid but then the viewer simply looks at a stationary box.
