nice
Thanks!
Interesting hybrid approach using western chisels, marking gauges, squares and vise.
Thanks 🙏🏽 I try to utilise as many hand tools from my small collection as I can
Fabulous! I want one. Will have to try this with all the offcuts lying around our place. What's next?
Haha Will! Yeah better than leaving the offcuts to rot :D No idea what's next, gotta wait for some inspiration to come.
What is that angle tool you are using at 1:17?
It's called a sliding bevel. Very useful to transfer across exact angles.
Have they held up well?
Yeah they're holding up really well! I'm missing the floor space when they were still bunk beds though :D
Let there b light on wood u r chiselling.U r holding it against light. Thanks for vdo.

Thank you for this!!! My boys have been asking for separate beds for a long time (they decided they are way to old for bunk beds) but I couldn’t afford to get them new ones. I was searching up “can you chainsaw bunk beds in half” on you tube last night, and this video was the first to come up. WE HAVE THAT EXACT BED!!! What a great idea this was! And so much better then simply chainsawing them apart. Had my brother come help me today, and now we have two beautiful single beds for the boys to have their own space! Thank you sooooo much!
Glad the video helped! My boys got older and wanted separate beds too. That's why I started searching for a solution. Feels good to reuse the bunk bed while keeping their old scribbles and stickers 😄
Thank you so much for making this video :) you did a great job with our TuffBlocks and the deck looks amazing. Is there a way we can get in touch with you via email? It would be great to help promote your video further. Thanks, Oliver
Hey Oliver, thanks so much for your comment! The blocks made it so much easier to build the deck! Feel free to email me at [email protected] Cheers 🙏🏽
what kind of wood used you?Great Job!!!!
Thanks! I used Tasmanian Oak which is a common hardwood in Australia.
I am thinking to transfer into single + pull out bedframe
Interesting! You probably have to remove a few inches from one end of the pull out section so that it fits under the single bed.
Am looking to do the opposite actually 😂
Combine two singles and turn it into a bunk bed? Reminds me of a scene in the movie Step Brothers 🤣
Impressive zen like work I am sure but....The perfect video to encourage one to....buy a bandsaw :)
Believe me mate, with every stroke of the pull saw I mutter under my breath 'I need a bandsaw' 😆 but I just don't have the space
Good work!🇦🇺👴🏻
Thank you very much mate 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Just followed this to make my first EVER joint, thanks for sharing. Out of interest, what wood are you using here please?
Thanks 😊 hope your joint turned out well! I used Tasmanian Oak which is the most common hardwood in Australia
We are moving and I was thinking of leaving the bunkbed in the apt, but our landlord said we have to get it out. My problem was that it would not fit through the doorway. I thought of just cutting in in half and throwing it away, but then I figured I could make it into 2 beds. I searched and found your link to this tutorial! Thank your for making it into a video! It will help a lot! I am excited to work on the kids bed this weekend!😅
Throwing away the bunk bed would be a waste when you could get 2 perfectly good beds out of it :) Hope it goes well!
I’m trying to turn my loft into a single bed so this is really helpful!
Hope you manage to convert the bed!

Danke 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
This was very educational,so the same process can be used to connect two pieces end to end ??
Thanks! I don't think this would be good for 2 end pieces, as the pin parts would be very weak. But maybe it would work if you're not going to put any weight or force on it.
Impressive! If a person can make one it's definitely cheaper and more satisfying to make your own.
Thanks! I don't know about it being cheaper, but definitely more satisfying and customisable to my needs :D
Interesting 😊 , are you a professional woodworking or just a hubby for fun like me ??! definitely i like to learn more about everything in woodworking 😊
Thanks! I'm just a hobbyist, will continue learning for a long time. Good luck!
Great video! Photography was wonderful 👴🏻🇦🇺
Thank you very much! Trying to improve both woodworking and videography at the same time :D
Thanks for sharing and keep posting. Greetings from Brazil.
Muito Obrigado! Appreciate your comment!
interesting design
Thanks 🙏🙏🙏 lots of different designs for this kind of side table
I like your little mini bench
Thanks 🙏🙏 I would prefer a full sized one but don't have the space
nice small parts jig for the rebate plane
Thanks! But it needs some improvements because my knuckles keep hitting the clamps.
nice little build. looks elegant.
Thank you very much! It is pretty much a miniature desk 😀
Nice, but your sawing could use a few pointers. First, unstable work surface is in large part at fault for the inaccuracy of sawing, your bench simply wiggles too much. Secong, you clamp the work piece too high in the vise, creating even more vibrations when cutting. Put the board as low as possible to the jaws, then make the cut. Third, saw along your lines in triangles before you get the knack for dovetails. Start with top line then slowly saw down along the face in a triangle and only then finish the cut at the back of the board, the tails will fit straight of the saw.
Hi Petr, thanks for your comments! Yeah my workbench is VERY unstable, but I'm waiting to move my shed and build a proper bench which will hopefully solve a lot of my problems. I'll improve my sawing techniques as per your advise too. Usually when I cut in triangles, I find that the face where the 2 cuts meet are not flush because I still drift when sawing. Something I'm keen to improve as I go!
Thank you for the plans! As soon as the ham arrives, I get to work. (I’m working on a budget.) Thank you! 👏👏👏
Make sure you adjust the spacings based on your ham. All the best!

Terima kasih banyak mas! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
nice one man...keep going!
Thanks sifu 🙏🏽
❤amazing production. You don't secure the work with a holdfast or anything while chiseling?
Thanks 🙏 Sometimes I do, but sometimes I'm just too lazy 😅
nice look
Thanks 🙏🏽🙏🏽
great job. Will it be stronger by adding one or two dowels ? I will make the same joint but on a 30cm wide wood panel (for my dinner table) and not sure the glue will be enough. Thanks for your answer.
Thanks! Yes dowels will definitely make the joint stronger. But a 30cm panel will have a lot of glue surface so it might be strong enough. Good luck!
@@modarmakes will let you know when it will be done
Please do, I'd love to see it!
can you give a link to the sketch up project?
Hey there, I'll see if I can link it in a few days
@@modarmakes if you remember, please tell me the width and thickness of the legs, otherwise I wanted to have time to do it before the new year
Hey bud here's the Sketchup link app.sketchup.com/share/tc/northAmerica/UQ4BrYjuRaQ?stoken=sbBJpDmtfxvqrqkTD1e53WnPK47_S6Sa0pPH_zsZJVlQunQLoweWf_ra4Jtr10gK&source=web
The thickness of the legs is 19mm. Before tapering the width is 42mm.
@@modarmakes Hey! finished the table I resized for an adult. desk for remote tutoring. made it from poor quality pine that was left over from roof repairs. This is my first woodworking project! Thank you very much for posting the link to the project and inspiration. I really liked this design.
Buat sebijik workbench yg berat & padu. Akan lebih mesra utk menggergaji, mengetam & memahat. Ye akan makan space tp takkan menyesal langsung. Teruskan dgn video hand tools woodworking bro. Terbaik. 😊👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Memang ada plan nak buat Moravian workbench nanti. Penat dah bertukang pakai meja goyang2 ni haha!
@@modarmakes moravian workbench + sliding leg vise. 😄👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great video. Thanks for posting. I plan to follow the easy steps when I make my second dove-tail box. My first was some years ago and need these pointers badly!
Thanks for your comment! I find that I get more enjoyment when I stop chasing perfect cuts. My angles aren't consistent, cuts aren't square and lots of other imperfections. But I'm really excited to give the box to my mom 😃 Good luck with your project!
So far I'm liking what I see. Over time, the lighting will get better. I'll be watching for the next project.
Thanks so much! Yes hopefully I'll get better in every aspect of the videos. Thanks again for the support 🙏🙏🙏
Only one so far I've seen drill the hole before chiseling...good to take note of for the future
Good way to quickly get rid of excess wood. However some people would consider this as cheating in a hand tools only project :D
@@modarmakes it certainly can be considered cheating, but it's worth more as a time saver.
I would suggest you getting a fine tooth saw
I've got a fine tooth Dozuki dovetail saw which takes ages to cut. Might look into other alternatives.
@@betterlatethannever4529 not cheating if you use a hand cranked drill! Old manual one
Good job sir

A great video, can I suggest you make your workbench more rigid and you will find fine detail work with chisels and planes more accurate and easily executed. You have a lot of bounce and that is cushioning blows with mallet to the chisel and because its not rigid when working with the hand plain it is skipping when you use a push stroke. I had the same problems until I beefed up my workbench and honestly the difference is incredible. Good luck to you and keep posting
Thanks for the comment! Yeah the workbench situation is really annoying especially when planing. It's affecting my posture because sometimes I have to rest a foot on one of the table legs to keep it from jumping up. I will be moving my woodworking setup from the garage to a backyard shed in a few months, hopefully I get to build a basic but sturdy bench. Appreciate the support :)
