    I live in Mexico and can't seem to find Murphy's Soap in my area and I can't get it in to Mexico through Amazon. What alternatives might there be? Any suggestions. Thank you.,

    I thought the manufacturer said they had to be stored flat. Is that not true?

  • @RatchetUpYourArt

    When I have put them in the tins, they have not slid down.. there have been no issues from storing them on their side in the part of the country where I live. I do store my larger ones flat. I don't recall where manufacturers stated they had to be stored flat... vs. On their sides, however, I do know if anything is pushing on top or under them it will create an indention into the plate..

    If you use baby wipes to clean your Breyer will this damage it or effect the results of your prints ?

    I wouldn't think so, it could leave a lint on it.. depending on the type you use. I typically roll my paint off on a piece of paper and call it a day.. when it gets really thick with paint.. I just peel it off.. however.. please let me know how it works for you..

    I bought 2 gel plates. One was a Gelli brand plate, and the other was a different brand that I can't remember. It was cheaper than the Gelli brand. I stored them for several years, and just got them back out. The "brand x" was so dry, the paper immediately stuck to it. I treated it with baby oil and then washed it with soap and water. It printed 2 pieces of paper and then the papers stuck to it again. I took out the Gelli brand and, it printed perfectly with no issues. I'm not representing the Gelli brand, but I will always buy that brand from here on out. You get what you pay for.

    Like the color combinations, just a helful hint you can mark the middle of paper and the top middle of paper with a dot ,then use tape on table for middle of top and middle of paper where the jelly roll is that will possibly help centering your paper for even margins you could even just use a cheatsheet paper with marks under the gelly plate or a sheet to lay over to always have to mark your paper you use for print..💛🎨✍

    OK so you do keep and use those thin pieces of mylar again, and then put the plate in the clamshell. I saved them because I wasn’t sure. The clamshell is non-porous and seemed the same to me as the mylar sheet that came with the plate so I wasn’t sure. 👍

  • @RatchetUpYourArt
    @RatchetUpYourArt Жыл бұрын

    @angelwings7930 What I'm showing around that time mark is how mylar or acetate or anything touching your plate could cause air bubbles or indents over time on your plate. I personally use the baking pans, and the gel plate tins towards the end of the video to store my plates. A few air bubbles or tiny ones don't bother me, but it may bother other people. I personally do not recommend putting the mylar/acetate back on the gel plates.

    How do you clean a sticky brayer, or can you?

  • @RatchetUpYourArt
    @RatchetUpYourArt Жыл бұрын

    Yes, however, it depends on the type of brayer you have and what made it sticky. For example, a speed ball brayer can be cleaned by Murphy oil soap. What type of brayer do you have, and how did it get sticky?

  • @Tiffyann31
    @Tiffyann31 Жыл бұрын

    @Ratchet Up Your Art I am honestly not sure, it is cheap black and rubber. I didn't realize it couldn't be cleaned like the rest of my paint stuff. I used it for acrylic paint. When I wash my paint stuff I use Dawn dish detergent. I noticed it was making it sticky. I let it dry and set it aside to see if it can be fixed.

    I would add mineral oil or you can use what I use which is the Dina Wakley Gel Plate conditioner amzn.to/3XHNw16 (this is an Amazon affiliate link). As for the image transfers; I find that the high quality magazines work best for a "clearer transfer" (the expensive ones). However, I have gotten some great prints from those postcards you get in the mail (i.e. junk mail) kzread.info/dash/bejne/mYKelrt-cdHZk8o.html I will however, have plans on creating an image transfer video sometime this year. 😀
