The shape of the shawl is standard. Your edge on the Joji shawl is a little tight if it’s an i-cord. The curl shape is correct and the desired shape and curl for that shape of a shawl.

I'm new here, exploring different experiences with Ranunculus. I'm just making the Ranunculus in cotton/silk. It would have been useful to know which needle size you used. I'm using 5.5mm (US 9).

So interesting that you are, and people still are, making the Must Have Cardigan. Gosh, I made that so so long ago, way early in my knitting experience. I love love the cardigan. Because I didn’t know any better, I just knit it and didn’t know about any problems, and didn’t worry about gauge. My only problem was seaming. It was sitting there as a WIP for years, and just needed to do the seaming and did that with my much more experienced knitter brain. I just love wearing it.

New to your podcast. Very enjoyable and I like your discussion of your Ranunculus. I’m one of those who hasn’t gotten on the R. Bandwagon, but I would like to. I’m watching this in spring 2024 and looking at summer knits that I can do quickly for a hot summer. Thank you.

I found your pattern suggestions so helpful Hailey. I’ve been spinning using a drop spindle for just over a year and have definitely improved. I also have recently purchased a wheel but find that so much harder ! I have attempted to use a mixture of my hand spun and commercial yarn in the Pressed Flowers sweater but mittens and a scarf are ideal 👏

Your handspun looks great! I just started spinning at the end of last year and I’ve also been spinning mostly on the Ashford espinner 3. One of the things I forced myself to do early on was spinning across the top, and I’m pretty ok with it now. I am definitely not an expert but two things helped me: first is it’s easier for me to go right to left across the top for some reason so I just turn the top back and forth rather than trying to do it in the direction that’s uncomfortable for me. The other one is I let a little tiny amount of twist into the fiber supply to grab fibers next to the ones I was drafting to move across the top, then I take the twist back out to continue drafting. I made a cowl with my first three skeins of handspun and there are obvious problems with the yarn but I love showing people my progress within a single project. And even though the yarn has a lot of problems I also really loved knitting with it. You’re in for a TREAT knitting with your handspun! There is a pattern on ravelry for a little round sheep called Schülerschaf Lena that is supposed to be good for handspun that I am going to knit up in one of my recent spinning “mistakes” which was spinning black welsh mountain wool thinking it would work in a garment, when that wool is so rustic I itch just touching it.
