3:58, You're surprised that there isn't a larger lake in Colorado? Colorado is a high desert climate.
yellowknife actually looks like a great place to live, wasn't expecting that😅
The SC one was the exit I always used to get to Charleston from Atlanta!
Excellent video and narration.
I knew it was Lake McConaughy! It's probably only 6 ft deep, too. LOL Shasta is probably the largest in California.
Lake Baikal in Siberia contains more fresh water than all the Great Lakes put together. So there's that.
Now do the most beautiful lakes.. We will be here to provide examples ;)
Lake Cumberland in Kentucky has 1,255 miles of shoreline. The state of Florida has 1,355 miles. It’s also 197 ft deep at its deepest
dam removal should be a priority in the united stated
I live in Truth or Consequences (yes they changed the name in the 50s after a game show), NM, and hike 4 times a week at Elephant Butte, or as we call it, The Butte.
a lake can not be man made by definition that is a reservoir.
13:30 That photo is not Mt. Whitney. It looks like it's possibly Borah Peak in Idaho.
Some rivers, despite constituting the border between two countries (or states), lie entirely within the boundaries of one country. The Potomac river for example, lies entirely within Maryland, despite being the border between Maryland and Virginia. I am not sure if there were any examples of rivers like these in this or any other of your lists, but I am wonder if those types of rivers would count.
Interesting to note the flood control lakes along the Mississippi River spend most of the winter as empty as they can get them. They fill up again each spring to mitigate the floods on the Mississippi River. I suspect that happens to most flood control lakes in the USA. I found several rods and reels while duck hunting in the empty lake, where I would normally have 6-10 feet of water over my head each summer, in (flood control) Sardus Lake about 8 miles from Oxford MS, home of Ol' Miss (University of Mississippi) where I received my BS degree. I spent a lot of time hunting or fishing in that lake.
What's interesting is that, in the wet season, the Everglades is either a 50-100 mile wide slow moving river from Okeechobee to Florida Bay, or a giant 6,000 sq mile lake that's an extension of Okeechobee. If you're including River reservoirs and seasonal lakes, then in my opinion the seasonal Everglades/Okeechobee should count as the largest lake located entirely in a state.
Lake Raystown is like 32 miles long...
You said lakes and then go and put a sea on the list!
Just because someone calls it a sea doesn't mean it is a sea. i.e. The Caspian Sea is actually a fresh water lake.
"Extremely rural Montana" ...like what part of Montana isn't "extremely rural" ? THAT'S definitely saying something about Montana if you can describe one area as being "extremely rural"
Poor Florida 😢
why is your voice out of sync with your image?
Suggestion, for the quizzes spend more time reviewing the result at the end, that's a fun payoff at the end of the video. Example, for the border drawing videos, compare to the real borders more and so on. As always super impressive results!
Dude i spent the first 11 years of my life like 2 miles away from gavin orchards lol
Fun fact: the largest island of the Solomon islands is currently part of Papua New Guinea, but is slated to become its own country of Bougainville this decade. That's the only island in that region whose name I now know (aside from New Guinea itself)
The most scenic is Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada mountains. It also does not stink.
You got Mississippi wrong Sardis Lake is the largest by almost 3 times as Grenda. Sardis is 98,520 acres, while Grenada Lake is only 35,000 acres
That's what I thought but I haven't been there since the mid 70s and I spent most of my lake time at Sardis anyway. I remember driving near Grenada once (really vague memory of water in the distance but was that Grenada or some other lake memory) but I never went out on the water.
Now we need a list with only natural lakes and a separate list for only manmade lakes
You need to go back to school son
You should have titled this "Largest BODY OF WATER in every state". You really opened a can of worms including reservoirs in your vid. LOL.
Went to Carlyle Lake for the first time in April as it was JUST inside the path of totality for the eclipse, and I was really impressed! Rent a cabin was very reasonably priced, and getting to camp in a cabin about 15 feet from a lake, that was cool. Highly recommended!
Suroised to see that Flathead Lake in Montana was not on top as the largest...must be a dwarf to Fort Peck Reservoir...but who knew?
Most of these are not laies! THey're reservoirs. Love to see the 50 biggest non-reservoirs.
I learned this in 3rd grade, today’s adult education, lol
From a bird's eye view many of these "lakes" look more like wide rivers as the damned lakes were once rivers....so...are are really lakes?
💙
That’s Idaho and Utah’s Bear Lake in the thumbnail, known as the Caribbean of the Rockies.
The Scituate reservoir provides the best tasting tap water that i have ever tasted.
In the 4th guess the towns were on the map bu you didn't see them
Thank you!
I would love to see you and CityNerd do some sort of collab to combine both your knowledge of urban planning and geography to reach a lot of new people
Not me skipping straight to Illinois because I live there too 😂😂😂
Maine, Lake Placid no?
Salton Sea is drying up due to stupid DemonRat politic....They come up with the laws that CA cannot save water until hundred thousand of cubic feet run into the ocean to save some small fish that has not been seen 30 years ago. Plus they don't allow any reservoir projects for years.
This guys voice is Awesome.
Very interesting video. The speaker's extreme vowel sounds are comparable to the weather guy on Max Velocity channel.
it's lonely in the north
Reservoirs are not real lakes.
Hey I live in Appleton
Lake Roosevelt.
I live 5 miles from Grand Lake St. Marys in Ohio.
It blows my mind that Michigan, with all its huge lakes, comes so low on the list. Personally, to be totally fair, man-made lakes should be on their own list.
As he said in the video, some states have no natural lakes. What good is a list with blank spots ?
@@edmartin875 Informative, not inflated artificially.
