exactly, especially with a place like Lebanon??? It's one of those things that genuinely makes me think that apple maps one day could seriously be better. Sao tome I get, but its really not a good path to go down.

Google doesn't care about GeoGuessr, Google cares about streetview. The quality of this camera achieves the purpose of street view, it's only annoying in GeoGuessr when you need to zoom in to small texts

Take ecuador and cambodia for example, it's gen 3 coverage looked fine, why did google have to go back and publish shit cam coverage *after* that, which takes precedence over the nice looking gen 3? Why even publish it? Maybe if there were new roads covered, fine, but dont overwrite the previous stuff. I just dont get why they still use the shit cam anywhere.

i mean it does look slightly better than the usual shitcam output as we dont have that god awful sao tome blur. and while the 2021 coverage is certainly duller and practically impossible to move in, i would probably call the 2023 coverage pisscam

Because of the tension in the region, Israel is using GPS jamming in the south of Lebanon (shows you as being in Beirut airport). Difficult finding your way around.

I really don't like when ALL the "professional" geoguessr players call it "shit" camera. So immature and unprofessional, It just shows what I see on every geoguessr tournament or event at any level, lots of young people who do not care about looking educated. CG and a couple others do behave better but I could name a lot of uneducated and vulgar "professional" geoguessr players

I'd rather have street view than no street view, but we're talking about one of the biggest/richest companies in the world. It doesn't really make much sense that they couldn't use new better cameras in every country.

@@gwendyp125 Good lord. The camera is objectively terrible, it's even worse than Gen 2 in some ways which is WELL over a decade old. The fact that you cannot look at new countries because the quality is worse than the random trekkers people take on their iPhone is obviously worth complaining about to anyone who actually cares about street view. It also instantly ruins the prospect of guessing the country- Israel and Lebanon look very similar but you literally can never mix them up solely because of the camera. They didn't even calibrate the compass correctly. Immature? You mean like putting professional in quotes because your feelings got hurt? What a truly awful comment from top to bottom

i looked at how much the cams cost and they go for like $440- $500 a pop and that's for the cheapest one on the website

Such a shame it is poocam. They could have at least made it Gen 4 so it could look kind of similar to Israel.

Honestly I don't see the issue. The 'shit' cam isn't great, but I don't think it's terrible either. Looks fairly ok to me, you can read most things, etc.
