My sister lives there now. I havent been to visit her yet. Years ago i lived on Captiva Island. That was nice. But Fort Myers itself scares me. We used to call it Fort Misery

Nice video. We’re taking care of my older brother who has stage four cancer and is now on hospice. We will have a very difficult time continuing to live in our home after he passes away. Would you consider Fort Myers to be a place where a person can purchase a new house in the $350,000 range?

Not researching the area is a big mistake; Online not just visiting on vacation. Rental while waiting to buy/build home/condo Winter differs from Summer lifestyle. Hurricane season ... Guaranteed Cat 3-5 will hit. Flooding/ storm surges will occur High winds -tropical storms not at hurricane level dedicate how you leave loose objects outside. Climate control storage is necessary due to humidity. "School Choice" for the public schools you don't get to pick, it's not done by district lines. Instead You submit the rank of choice, it's like a wish list and you may not get your first choice.

I relocated from the NorthEast in New Jersey and man the weather is better here then anywhere else in the United States all year! My story follows around the same path i came here or the East Coast of Florida every year twice and sometimes 3 times a year so when i was ready and back from being over seas working as a military contractor i chose to come here and boy did i pick the right time and the right spot cause now a place i bought for 180k seven years ago and a condo for 90k now are worth 640k and 260k so weve been thinking of selling and buying another house! I hope all has been good for you guys since Ian nailed us too!
Yep all the wealthy northerners moving down to our hometown making it fiscally impossible for locals with service industry jobs to afford a hone that the new transplants pay cash for. Gentrification of southwest Florida locals is gonna leave your new home looking like LA shi**hole.

no modular homes or trailers should ever be allowed in beach areas. need proof look at what happens after hurricanes or tornados to them. my wife is from the Philippines see storms like this all the time every year, ALL HOMES need to be built with concrete to minimize damage along with hurricane roofs and windows and shutters, no cheap-made drywall and wood homes. common sense when a major storm is coming get out don't stay on your boat or in your home. 2-week notice on this storm no reason to stay.

Left Ft Myers in 2011. Best move I ever did. Looks even better after Ian. It will take years to clean up that mess. When it comes back and it will.. only the very affluent will be able to afford it.

The price of paradise is Devastating hurricanes like Ian. Probably better to stay up North or not leave where you were.

Florida has more HOA'S than any other state. They are expensive, control your life and are not worth it. Huge waste of money.

Hello I currently live in the lower Keys and I’ve been thinking about moving to Fort Myers. My partner lives in New Mexico and she is also a real estate agent with her Florida license. Obviously up there there’s a much better market then down here in the keys and that’s why we are thinking about relocating there. with the higher interest rates and it appears that they are going to continue going up during this administration do you feel that the market is going to slow down?
We moved into a non-gated section of Gateway on June 1, 2022, and absolutely love it. We are from NJ via North Carolina and think Ft Myers and the surrounding area is perfect for families and younger people alike. Best move we ever made.
The best move I ever made was leaving Indiana and relocating here in fort myers ❤️
