I grew up in Shelton and graduated from SHS in 1970. I'm 72 now and live in Florida. Miss the valley Go Gaels
me, my brother and sister worked at this great landmark back in the early 70's when we were all of 11,12 and 13. We were paid with food and soda, shaved ice and all the free pool we wanted and i am sure we were thrown a few sheckies . Every second week in august we would pack up the station wagon and head for our cottage that my mother rented without fail for 30 years. We spent all our day on the beach and our afternoons helping the Colucci family with whatever needed done. i know its different now cuz i get sent pics from a family friend who travels from Springfield, Ma just to re-hash all the memories from a great place and era. I live in Seattle now but plan to visit the next time i get back to Springfield. Great video. adam---eddie--kathy

Correction, New London, CT, is a city. It is located in New London County in southeastern Connecticut. Definitely not a town but a well-defined city.
I live in South Africa and loved it when I visited it just loved all the beautiful places in America wow a other of utmost beauty and different seasons especially fall I would love to live there ❤❤❤

I was raised in Chester from 1942 until 1960. Yes, it was a typical New England town, but today it has become a romanticized version of what people think it was. The small factories employed most of the population. Salaries were extremely low in those factories. Most families had gardens because it was necessary for survival. The shops you videoed so well were made of a town office building, two taverns, soda fountain, grocery store, butcher shop, liquor store, barber shop, gift shop, bank, post office, hardware store, dry cleaner, drug store and a general store where you could buy shoes and clothing. The town was very self-sufficient.

I got retraumatized when the cops abducted Megan. Therefore, this IS my business. Meg said she was "saving money" to get out of Gilead the "right" way. I.e , she's subjected to indentured servitude.
