    Try another wonderful blackberry Ponca. Another creation of the Arkansas berry program , supposedly the ultimate blackberry for taste. We are so lucky to have these improved berries.

    Others have noted this, but the cherries he tasted were not fully ripened. The color should be much darker, moving towards black. They will still be sour, but much less so and more palatable for fresh eating.

    I appreciate the video. My Methley plum is a little over 3 years old and the only plum tree, I have producing so far. I had no idea what they actually were supposed to look like inside. I picked a couple and they were not ready. Now that I know what to look for it will be much easier. The tree is bearing heavy and I have thinned 3 times. I still ended up with one broken branch because I missed a cluster. Thanks

    Question: Are patentable berries healthy? Or do you like alien foods?

  • @rjaquaponics9266
    @rjaquaponics92662 ай бұрын

    Patentable berries are alien to our bodies, never mind the taste. Taste does not make it healthy! Also, "eyes" can't tell the difference.

    What is your container fig soil recipe? I live in a similar hot, dry summer with cold winter climate.

    Just regular potting mix that comes in a bag. I think I use an organic mix that’s called garden and bloom. I also fertilizer with a liquid fertilizer.

    Did the self pollination with spray bottle work for you?

  • @Boisefruit
    @Boisefruit2 ай бұрын

    Didn’t work, but I have found that ants work well as pollinators which takes care of the problem.

  • @Boisefruit

    Compared to other plums and pluots it’s not that great. If it’s the only home grown plum you have had then it will be amazing.

    When does Shiro bloom relative to Shiro? I'm in SE Georgia and am trialing Shiro here grafted into a Chickasaw plum (P. angustifolia) rootstock. (Grafting onto chickasaw adds a lot of disease resistance in our hot and humid climate.) My one-year-old scion broke dormancy really relative to most of my cultivars, so I'm wondering if I should worry about it not blooming with a pollinizer. The University of Georgia published a plum guide which contains a chart comparing the bloom time of our southern plums to Santa Rosa. If I can find out when Shiro blooms relative to Santa Rosa, I should be able to figure out when it will bloom relative to the varieties I've got. Thanks.

    Interesting, in my area bees and other pollinators also do not like to pollinate the flowers of Juliet nor Carmine Jewel. Last year I have tried 2 cherries, and they were extremely tart and sour, probably because of the first bearing. Another problem is that as soon as they become ripe, birds eat them all :|

    Do you have any additional comparison/preference by now? Which is more disease resistant? Are they equally hardy?

  • @shake_shells11
    @shake_shells11Ай бұрын

    I have 4 varieties including prime ark freedom and triple crown. No other varieties beat triple crown with disease and pest resistance. I think it has to do with their leaves being thicker and more hairy. It’s a late variety. Prime ark freedom ripens early.

    Thanks for your thoughts on this peach. Do you have any experience with Suncrest or Contender? I’m trying to add another tree and would be curious what you would recommend as I live near Twin Falls ID and have similar growing conditions. I already grow Reliance and Redhaven and really enjoy both. I added a baby crawford two years ago after watching your video on it, but no fruit yet. Anyway just curious what peach varieties make your “keeper” list?
