Phenomenal play on the draw by lemieux, but great job drawing the defense by Gretzky

The pace and physicality in these OT (emphasizing OT, as this is when they're supposed to be gassed) highlights make for a much more entertaining playoff product than what we have today.

At 3:26, Gretzky trips a Swedish player. He never gets called? Wow. At 13:54, team Canada player interferes and trips a Russian player. He never gets called for the penalty. Wow!! Referees turned a blind eye aye? Rubbish goals on those plays!

None of these Leafs scored 69 goals. None of these Leafs won MVPs or the Rocket Richard. Though they came up short due to Hair Fraser, they had grit, determination, and effort.

From the first time i saw that goal i was amazed that the ref did not call a penalty on Team Canada...when you see the play from behind you will see a Canadian player trip and interfere with a Soviet defender at mid ice...this led to the Canadian player being open...that goal should not have counted

When I was watching this live, I remember saying to myself "It feels like Canada is on the power play every time Gretzky and Lemieux were on the ice together. I couldn't understand why the coach would put them on the ice separately. Why would you break them up when they were so dominant together. But if I'm being honest, I figured it was to try and get two super lines instead of one.

Wow well this has to be the greatest team ever assembled. I dont know HOW any of the others could have even been anywhere close. That said, i could see how Russia would have been upset. The refs in that game DEFINITELY favored Canada. Mario may not have scored that final goal had the game been officiated without favoritism. 13:53

Canada have 650000 hockey players today! USA have 500000 hockey players today! Ovechkin's Russia have only 80000 hockey players today! Canada and USA should have 15 guys who have scored over 800 goals like Ovechkin today! Canada have 650000 hockey vs Soccer 250 million players that means The Soccer All Stars would beat Orr Gretzky Lemieux easily 100 game Series 93-7!!

NEJLEPŠÍ turnaj všech dob! V Česku se v novinách psalo: 99 + 66 = 1 !!! Kanada s Waynem Gretzkym a Mariem Lemieuxem porazili Rusko, kde zářili Larionov, Makarov, Krutov! Finále, které skončilo třkrát 6:5 !!! Senzace!!!

I worked in catering for the players and journalists covering the game that night. When Gilmour scored the goal, you could feel the building shake. I never got to see any of the game, but I got to experience it. The stories about Gilmour and Clark "carbing it up are true". They downed plate after plate spaghetti and meatballs after that game. Pat Burns had a medium rare steak after the game. It was such a pleasure working those games and getting to meet the team.
