One, if not THE, best books I’ve read in the last decade. Any understanding of this moment in American must include an understanding of this book. Thank you so much for posting.
Economic inequality, anyone?
Thank you for giving me hope. Wonderful panel.
Khan Sir is Hero Teacher for the World. With Love and Affection!!!! from Hyderabad, INDIA
VTN = CIA imo [Langley clown man -- like Kendi, deAngelo et al]
Prof Glaude is a moral leader for our moment. Amazing leader. Could listen to him all day. His students are so lucky. For the rest of us, I thank the New Orleans Book Festival for posting these talks. It’s our classroom.
"PromoSM"
Cleo, let Nicole talk!
Best interview on Viet... and I went down the rabbit hole on Viet Than Nguyen... fantastic job.
Wonderful. Hope Trump was watching, but he would have no idea what was being discussed.
Delightfully insightful conversation.

Madison Hemings said that Jefferson freed ALL his children, two of them while he was still alive - Beverly and Harriet. What's wrong with you?
Ken is our national treasure just like PBS
Maureen Dowd is the best host ever. She has such ambiance around her and a natural proclivity in her voice and appearance to be a crowd attraction.
Yes! Bring back the values of virtue and service.
Fascinating discussion from 4 excellent historian authors. Enjoy.
Thank you Heather Cox Richardson!!!! Thank you for giving us hope.
Maggie needs a good stuffing ,she looks so uptight !
Look for her appearance on Colbert. She loosens up a bit.
Yes, it was all those things except the elephant in the room not an abnegation of the cruelty to humans who were not white. and still today young people of color are losing their lives for simple traffic violations by law enforcement officers,
I love both of their works. Hopefully they continue to collaborate in the future, I'd love to see a story or graphic novel by both of them!
Hero Teachers + synthesised AI teaching and learning feedback looping. Exceptional quality.
The idea of writing a memoir intrigues me as a boat refugee from VN coming to America at 14 without my parents. I was placed in a foster care system, and I can speak of the experience of having to assimilate into the new culture. As a 30-year Navy vet and an educator now, I am sad to see children coming from dysfunctional families being raised by single moms or dads. The society drifted into a culture of wokeism, a form of communism from which I escaped. I came to America during the Reagan era with his vision of America as a shining city on the hill and a beacon of hope for the world. I hope to restore that vision of America to the next generation, which has lost its national identity, according to former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.
I love that these three people know each other & share their ideas. The volume of knowledge & wisdom they have given us is an embarrassment of riches.
Really enjoying this panel.
An enlightening discussion by three of our most erudite historians. Thank you. Fascinating and helpful in getting a deeper understanding of the history that's foundational to our country's strength and values.
35:55 Heather - Bob Barr "human beings are naturally sinful, impose religion on them"
14:55 John Calhoun
So many wretched hardcore libertarians in the GOP, like Charles Koch, hold John Calhoun in high esteem.
This is such a fascinating and informative panel, I can't stay focused on my job for constantly and craning and straining to hear every word. So much being said here.
12:04 Patrick Henry
Very interesting and deep conversation. Thank you!!!
I believe that censorship cannot be used for good, it is a tainted well. Not to be a big nerd but It's the One Ring and you're Gandalf, "Understand, Frodo...I would use this Ring from a desire to do good...but through me, it would wield a power too great and terrible to imagine."
Not a fan of Wesley Lowery's take on Free Speech, but it's interesting to listen to regardless. Edit: Yeah, I feel about the same as Ronan on the topic. Not _Quite_ an absolutist, but pretty damn close.
15:35 That's very important. People seem unable or unwilling to acknowledge that getting the truth about what actually happened regardless of your personal feelings about someone or something is essential. And that a clarification of the truth is not an endorsement of a person, institution, or philosophy.
this TDS is just laughable. Its sad to see and hear genuinely intelligent people blinded by their own ideology
I hate to remind you that at the time of the writing of the Constitution "the pursuit of happiness" referred to divorce. Anglican Virginia and Catholic Maryland had to reconcile it's beliefs with Quakers and New England Protestants so that all of the colonies could sign on to the new nation.
I would say the difference between the socialist movement of the 1900 and now is now the people discussing it are not affected by the income problems of being working class. Then the movement leaders were working class.
Cut to the chase: TRUMP: NO JAILTIME, NO JUSTICE. Why? VOTE BLUE'S ALL, we the people, CAN DO.
We need to outlaw the high frequency trading. The simplest way is to impose a .05% sales tax (one 100th of a 5% tax) on each trade. Raise billions to decrease the deficit and give average people a chance in the market.
Temple Granden also is sort of an actor with rehearsed lines, as she has explained in interviews. It appears that Sam and Temple cannot do normal conversations and have to practice replies.
Great conversation!
Jeez! They could've written that quote in as the primary source of "George Jefferson's" anger.
Damn. Kenny won't stop pumping out the sedatives!
Ken Burns is the best person to make a film documentary...smart and honesty personified in all his films as we all learn from whatever film we are watching that he and his brother made for PBS!!!! Thank you Ken!! You are amazing and humble with the accolades that have been given to you for your work in documentation! You are so special and loved by many citizens in our nation and rightfully so!!
Mr Burns, the man I trust more than anyone else. What I can think of with every mentioning that we are a country existing on the belief of LAWS, well why do I have to get an interpreter ?
Jeffrey has a long response for this first question in life long learning and the Declaration of Independence
I come from an educational background of math and science and self education in many other areas. This program confirms much of what I believed and suspected. Thank you for my continuing education in the history of our country.
I forgot to make my point, a point I make to myself as a reminder. No matter what one’s background study, it is a better education, at least for me, to be a generalist swimming in many waters.
