One, if not THE, best books I’ve read in the last decade. Any understanding of this moment in American must include an understanding of this book. Thank you so much for posting.

Prof Glaude is a moral leader for our moment. Amazing leader. Could listen to him all day. His students are so lucky. For the rest of us, I thank the New Orleans Book Festival for posting these talks. It’s our classroom.

Yes, it was all those things except the elephant in the room not an abnegation of the cruelty to humans who were not white. and still today young people of color are losing their lives for simple traffic violations by law enforcement officers,

The idea of writing a memoir intrigues me as a boat refugee from VN coming to America at 14 without my parents. I was placed in a foster care system, and I can speak of the experience of having to assimilate into the new culture. As a 30-year Navy vet and an educator now, I am sad to see children coming from dysfunctional families being raised by single moms or dads. The society drifted into a culture of wokeism, a form of communism from which I escaped. I came to America during the Reagan era with his vision of America as a shining city on the hill and a beacon of hope for the world. I hope to restore that vision of America to the next generation, which has lost its national identity, according to former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.

I believe that censorship cannot be used for good, it is a tainted well. Not to be a big nerd but It's the One Ring and you're Gandalf, "Understand, Frodo...I would use this Ring from a desire to do good...but through me, it would wield a power too great and terrible to imagine."

15:35 That's very important. People seem unable or unwilling to acknowledge that getting the truth about what actually happened regardless of your personal feelings about someone or something is essential. And that a clarification of the truth is not an endorsement of a person, institution, or philosophy.

I hate to remind you that at the time of the writing of the Constitution "the pursuit of happiness" referred to divorce. Anglican Virginia and Catholic Maryland had to reconcile it's beliefs with Quakers and New England Protestants so that all of the colonies could sign on to the new nation.

I would say the difference between the socialist movement of the 1900 and now is now the people discussing it are not affected by the income problems of being working class. Then the movement leaders were working class.

We need to outlaw the high frequency trading. The simplest way is to impose a .05% sales tax (one 100th of a 5% tax) on each trade. Raise billions to decrease the deficit and give average people a chance in the market.
