Todd’s Outside Again

Todd’s Outside Again

Hello everyone welcome to the channel. Todd’s Outside Again was started to continue to interact with the good, like minded people, in this outdoor community after my son stepped away for a break from his channel. It will show the growth of my awkwardness in front of the camera as well as growing a small firewood business with my son. Father and son team working together to pass on work ethic and life lessons. Hope y’all enjoy!👊🏻

    I have a lot of sassafras on my place It really smells nice, burns nice, cuts nice and splits great. It is a little better than poplar and smells great. That is a nice size to be cutting and handling. At my age that is ideal for me. On my place, everything is 30" or more and mostly hickory.

    Yeah we have a few here and there. I do like how it smells. We had a big one in our front yard as a kid. It had a tire swing in it and we were always kicking off the tree and the bark smelled awesome. Does split and burn nice as well. Thanks for watching James

    I have never seen stringy ash. All the ash we had in Ohio split like a dream. It was like hard maple. We were the first state hit by the ash borer, so all our ash is too rotten to cut. Most people got it cut and used before it rotted but I have a bunch on a hillside on the front of my property and it was just too steep for my old knees to work on. Probably my favorite wood to burn. Our bitternut hickory is stringy like that, and I have cut a bunch of it in the last 2 years. I have over 100 rounds of it cut up but have to wait for help to get it out of the woods. Hope Evan has a safe trip to college and enjoys his time there. Elm is a very nasty wood to split. I avoid it when I can.

  • @toddsoutsideagain
    @toddsoutsideagain7 күн бұрын

    Yeah I’m betting Ash might be a little stringy when it’s green? Or it could just be a different species of Ash that is more resistant to the beetle. Most of our Ash is still alive🤷‍♂️ Thanks for the well wishes for Evan👊🏻
