FYI: The BFL/Kid Mohair appeared to be "compacted" rather than felted. 9/10 times, a magic trick to verify and, more importantly, fix this and will reveal they aren't actually felted is to: run the entire length of the roving through steam. I use a steam gun, but you may also use steam from a kettle. Regardless of which of the two methods you use, be very careful not to burn yourself. Anyway, back to the "magic." As soon as the steam hits the compacted roving, it will expand/puff-up/balloon. It will shock you the first time you do it.😊

I love that first jumper, such pretty colours. I have a USO (Unstarted Object!) to get going with. I did a combo of 7 chains of fibre a year or two ago but wasn't sure about it. Looking at it again I quite like it though I don't know what it will turn out like! Also, it is DK weight which is heavy for me to knit. Anyway, I am hoping I have enough as I have chosen a pattern (Renton on Ravelry) which is a nice cardie to knock around in. I'm not sure what the thickness of the yarn used by the designer for this but I will adjust if I can't get the correct tension. I had planned to have all the yarn wound into balls before the Olympics began but it is very tiring and painful for me to stand for long so I am alternating with winding and spinning another project I have on the go which will take me ages. I have lots of yarns I have spun but don't know yet what to do with but they are not enough for a garment.

So glad to see that first sweater getting the love it deserves, it is so beautiful. I always wondered how you could stop knitting on it when it was so close to being finished. 😂 this is a great knit along.

I’d say a successful Tour - brava! Love most of the skeins. The ropey one was certainly different. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing your TdF results (and WIPs); I was traveling during TdF so did not participate. Love all the experimentation you did.

And here I just FINISHED a handspun boxy!!! ;-). But I do have a WIP from handspun that I would like to finish. Might use this opportunity to do that. I also have a sweater's quantity for another "fade" (from a processed fleece that I divided into shades of gray). I now have two handspun fades, so not sure what to do differently with this batch, but I'll give it some thought.)

That’s awesome that you have multiple wheels! My husband insists I only need one and that I should be able to do everything on my Kromski Sonata. What is your opinion?

As I’m watching this video my SO overhears you saying “nothing fancy, just spin”. SO: “Nothing fancy? It’s SPINNING. That’s FANCY. All other folk buys yarn in a shop.” Walks away, shaking his head. I’m dead. 😂

Im so sorry to hear about Gizmo, he was a special boy. Im glad your crafting is doing well at keeping the sadness at bay, evwn if juat for a ahort while. You have made some beautiful things as always. I love the star blanket braid that's just like the stephen west motif in one of his shawl patterns.

I’ve got this image in my head of the perfect hand spun yarn. Not variegated, no pooling, or stripes. Just some melange similar to the bright green/yellow piece you have in the background. Like when you look at the desert or the sea, colors flowing softly into other colors with no real line of demarcation. So difficult to get without going “muddy”! Perhaps the secret is to limit the palette? Idk, I’ll keep searching until I find it…sigh
