"The Light That Shines" is the 3rd opus of french melodic death metallers Fractal Gates.
Fractal Gates is a 5 man band featuring Stéphane Peudupin (Ex-Inborn Suffering, Ex-Lethian Dreams, Ningizzia) and Sébastien Pierre (Enshine, Cold Insight, Ex-Inborn Suffering, Ex-Lethian Dreams).
"The Light That Shines" emphasises on catchy tunes, stellar sci-fi sounds and melodic death metal energy. As die hard fans of sci-fi, our lyrics focus on the future, our consciousness and self awareness, the unknown, the magnificance of the universe and the probable alien encounters we might be faced with.
The album was mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö of Unisound AB and features guest appearances such as Jari Lindholm (Enshine, Ex-Slumber, Ex-Atoma) and Ben Ellis (Scar Symmetry)

To be fair, I believe that Fractal Gates dropped the ball with their new album. The 2018 sound and energy are superior to 2024, and their latest album has them sound like a yet another metalcore/ardent metal group with an overdose of clear vocals and loss of stable listenable vibe. The Light that Shines and Beyond the Self are all 100% listenable, no matter your vibe; One with Dawn does not align to this concept. I feel that Fractal Gates should reconsider their drift towards lack of death metal elements.
