    I am enjoying this series but I must say it is having the opposite effect of what I feel its intention is... I feel like it is impossible for man to be the person God wants us to be, and that seems incredibly unfair. Like man has been set an unpassable exam. It makes life seem almost pointless. Try and fail, try and fail.. its very sad. I had hoped Christianity was more than that. This set of works makes Christianity (and this life) look like a chore, a series of unending failures and disappointments to God. I want to be a Christian, but beyond that knowledge, I am completely lost.

    Ive not watched the Narnia film since becoming a believer...so...the ones in her castle were made into statues by their sins(?) and they were brought to life by Aslan in the end? The doodle is simply the best way for any of this to seemingly penetrate my thick skull. Thank God for the technology we have available (though the book is excellent!) x

    This is one of my more recent discoveries of Lewis' (I hadn't read Christian Reflections until just recently), but I quite love it. It is so wonderfully insightful on how infectious the mindset of evolution is, and how it influences the psychology of everything from consumerism to human destiny, and furthermore, WHY it is so.

    Repost: "Voici un truc assez inusité et TRÈS original, soit l'utilisation d'un dessin animé sur le thème d'un essai génial, mais peu connu de CS Lewis, soit The Funeral of a Great Myth. The Funeral of a Great Myth (of Popular Evolution) by C.S. 12:45 hearing this just gave me clarity on the Lord's prayer, ".. Give us our daily bread as we forgive those who sins against us.." I always wonder what our daily bread meant, probably Jesus's body, for Jesus said He is the bread of life and I didn't think too much of it, I just look at it as God giving us daily spiritual food in us to sustain our spiritual needs. I never connected the dots on the hunger for love, or at least now I realize worldly things do not give me pleasure or satisfaction or fulfillment, now I have a new clarity that when I am hungry for love in life or attention as C.S. Lewis had mentioned the types of love we crave as humans, and I search it in the wrong places in this world is because the love I am looking for is not from this world but from God, how amazing our creator is, that He gives His love so freely to us as a gift and mercy. Now, whenever I am feeling down or have this hunger rush, may I find it in God which makes me full and whole like bread. Worldly love cannot sustain me for long and I go hungry again. Wow. Thank you for this doodle, I really appreciate C.S. Lewis intellect on God's words, it has helped me to see things even clearer, God has blessed him with this gift indeed.

    These illustrations and narrations are helping me change everything. I have the book, Mere Christianity. When I've tried to read and comprehend it, I find it impossible. Listening to you speak the words while watching you illustrate the concepts behind the words, is opening a new thing in me. When you speak the words written, I hear emphasis, tone, crucial pauses, and conclusions all along the way.. leading to me having new understanding ! When I simply read his book, the words, sentences, and meanings just run together . Thank you so much for using your skills in obedience to God, so that I can more fully appreciate the wonderous gift that has been given to me 🌷

    The most striking part to me was "You are no longer faced with an argument which demands your assent, but with a person who demands your confidence." - I find no interest in apologetics or arguing for the existence of God because I already experience and interact with Him as a *Person*. What use is it to debate whether He exists when I know He does, based on internal and external evidence, just as much as I know my friends and family exist?

  • @CSLewisDoodle
    @CSLewisDoodle3 ай бұрын

    Lewis talked about apologetics in this essay (of course the arguments are not for his own benefit, but for others): "In the first place, it must be admitted by anyone who accepts Christianity, that an increased interest in it, or even a growing measure of intellectual assent to it, is a very different thing from the conversion of England or even of a single soul. Conversion requires an alteration of the will, and an alteration which, in the last resort, does not occur without the intervention of the supernatural. I do not in the least agree with those who therefore conclude that the spread of an intellectual (and imaginative) climate favourable to Christianity is useless. You do not prove munition workers useless by showing that they cannot themselves win battles, however proper this reminder would be if they attempted to claim the honour due to fighting men. If the intellectual climate is such that, when a man comes to the crisis at which he must either accept or reject Christ, his reason and imagination are not on the wrong side, then his conflict will be fought out under favourable conditions. Those who help to produce and spread such a climate are therefore doing useful work: and yet no such great matter after all. Their share is a modest one; and it is always possible that nothing - nothing whatever - may come of it. Far higher than they stands that character whom, to the best of my knowledge, the present Christian movement has not yet produced - the *Preacher* in the full sense, the Evangelist, the man on fire, the man who infects. The propagandist, the apologist, only represents John Baptist: the Preacher represents the Lord Himself. He will be sent - or else he will not. But unless he comes we mere Christian intellectuals will not effect very much. That does not mean we should down tools ('The Decline of Religion’).
