    It is certainly one of the sights of all time. The glass quality is a touch below par for modern prismatic sights, the external adjustments make zeroing a pain, It uses a not-so-common battery type, it's heavy, and it is very tall. That being said, I absolutely love using it. The field of view is gigantic, and the image is very flat.

    Nice job! Where is this at? Ive been trying a few optics to see what i like best. What optic is that? Elcan? For reloads, i kinda do it AK style now, I learned to grab my next mag, holt the rifle out a foot out in front of my body, stick my thumb out, use that to pop the empty mag out and stuff the new one in. Karate chop the bolt catch. Not quite as fast as AR15. Longer trigger pull too. I ride the reset. But this gun really does well at those distances! Thanks for uploading!

    Very unorthodox choice of weapons and I love it. What were the distances with the rifle and how happy are you with the rifle in general? What would be the go to rifle/calibre for this discipline?

  • @ConventionRejected
    @ConventionRejected3 ай бұрын

    The furthest target for this match was 452 yards, but most of the targets were between 300 and 200 yards. I am pretty happy with the rifle, my only complaints are that I wish it was about a pound lighter and had a better trigger. As far as go to rifles for this style of match, you can get away with a lot. The only strict requirements, in my opinion, are that you need to be able to self-spot your misses and that your gun should shoot no worse than 2 MOA. Really what that means is ideally you want either a low recoil cartridge like 5.56, or a gun set up to reduce recoil through weight and a muzzle brake such as a heavy PRS bolt gun. Self-spotting can be difficult with 5.56 at longer distances, so 77gr bullets or cartridges like 6ARC, 6.5 Grendel, 6.5 Creedmoor, or .308 have some advantages. At the end of the day though, I have seen a lot of people perform well with a wide variety of guns and cartridges. You do not need to build or buy a gun specifically for this game. Use what you have and have fun!

    Thanks, I just posted the footage from this weekend's DMR match with the Hellion. The rifle performs very well, but people perceive of bullpups as being relegated only to CQB. I tried the Tippmann and didn't like the results. I now run a DMK22C LVOA from Kriss Arms and have been impressed with the accuracy and reliability. I don't clean the barrel on the bolt and chamber, just under 3k rounds thus far. The DMK is quite a bit heavier than the Tippman at over 7lbs without optics, to me it feels more solid. I've been struggling to find an optic I'm happy with for my VHS-2. I've tried Burris LVPO and EOTECH, and Acog is wrong height for eye alignment. I ended up going with a standard 3x9 40mm with 30mm body and Low rings. Works well, but doesn't fit the modern military aesthetic. Mine is very accurate once it's dialed in and dope is set. I use mine at Friday night rifle league indoors and black rifle league 3 to 200 meters outdoors on weekends. Doesn't seem to jam with PMC or Federal 55gr or 62gr fmj often. Wolf/Tula is very light and cannot use suppressor setting. I am working on developing a finer trigger for Hellion, but it requires a new safety and trigger housing to work. The trigger is setup for military movement, not benchrest accuracy. I haven't figured out how to cut some weight out of my VHS. The manticore shorty butt stock is metal and may have added weight. Sometimes I go back to my PWS Mk111. AR-15 is faster to reload and finer trigger. Lighter. Nice job at the match! Thanks for sharing your video footage
