Wow to that video ! Thx to Rutgers for doing this ! Nice throw Capt Jerry on the shark ( looked like a 15’ throw ! ) As always Bob , gr8 job & keep up the terrific work . God bless 🙏🇺🇸❤️
I’ll be out in Avalon looking 👀 for these taggers. ( if it’s a keeper , it’s going back in the tank ! ) 🙏
Just met you Bobbie. You sprayed my lawn today. I just subscribed to your channel and I really enjoyed the video !! Nice job.
Great meeting you, too!!
Hey brother got my first fluke of year 25.5in in surf. I got pics
Nice!
@@BStavFishinggot him in mantoloking in a secret hole lol. 1.5hrs after high tide on a 3/4 Oz single jig head with 4in nlbn white
dingggg 😂
Huh?
@@BStavFishing common b stav…. the sound effect with shark and captain….I found it funny. my apologies for any confusion!
@@dylberzylali5065 no worries Brother! I just wasn’t sure what you meant. Thank you for watching!
Littorial Society, N. O. A. A. , Grey Tags, etc etc... Anyone helping is..."" helping ""! Read your article in The Fisherman the other day. Noticed you use your trolling motor alot. Thanks for your dedicated to helping the fisheries.
Truth!! How’d you like the article?
@@BStavFishing I thought it was a bit different from the usual way that people who use a trolling motor for fishing use them. As you said, It sounds complicated but really isn't and will become easier the more you do it. I think the biggest difference is using the trolling motor. I have a few friends who have the big motor and a "" kicker"" on back. Either way they're pushing the boat forward. You're pulling it. Might be the difference in the approach to maintaining the tide/ current speed and direction that's helping you catching more fish. God bless and safe travels!
Want to do something good is what you do. You should be able to keep 16 inch fish. OK the bigger fish should be let go instead of breezes that’s how you get little flow on the bigger flow right so they keep making the size bigger and bigger taking out reading females are ridiculous concept small fish of Med, get my drift
Not sure what you’re saying.
@@BStavFishing what I’m saying is let you keep the fish that are of breeding age another words that can have babies. I hope you understand now the bigger fish let them go. They don’t taste good anyway the 16 inch fish and 15 inch fish a good eating fish. It doesn’t harm the population when the netters go out desert 1 mile long stream of fish dead that were thrown back because they were too small for them to keep think about this. It’s monstrous and weather makes the fishing rules doesn’t know what the hell they’re doing. That’s for sure, but then again the people that make the rules for the size of fish that you can keep most of them are fleet owners of troll vessels
No I don’t get your drift, you’re barely speaking English and can’t put a sentence together. The size limit has been 18 for quite a few years now and I’ve had no problems catching keeper fluke in the ocean. I get that bigger fish are more likely female but the fact it was an open fishery with no limits for a long time is what caused this. Boomers who filled their buckets and coolers with fluke, winter flounder, weak fish, porgy’s etc are why there’s such strict regulations now.
@@georgeniebergall7074 I agree with some of the things you said but not everything. That's what makes our world go around. I've been known to release big fish because I have plenty of fillets in the freezer.
@@jamesps7515 pigs get fed, hogs get slaughtered, right? I agree with you about the days when there weren't any regulations. People took way more than they needed, but in today's world, I sincerely don't believe that recreational anglers are hurting the biomass. Alot of those fish never make it into the backwaters for recreational anglers to catch.
Great job everyone.
Great video!
RU Rah Rah, cool video man I'm glad someone is investigating what's going on with the fluke. I'm tired of being blamed for the fluke population when we all know it's the commercial daggers effecting the population.
Great video!! Great job for helping the study of fluke. I appreciate it.
Thanks Pete!!
You found the fleet too
Yes. Very appropriate monolog in the opening. I call it ""Heroes day "". Because as Jesus said, "" No greater love has one that gives his life for another "". Skate equals Scallops to stuff the Flounder with! Necessity is the mother of the kitchen! Or, something like that!
what are you using we use a yellow bead double hook been having trouble with the rig getting tangled up great video we went out sunday in cape cod bay got our limit but had trouble with tangling
I am basically using a 3 foot floral carbon liter. I tie a surgeons loop at the bottom and then I come up about 14 to 16 inches and tie another dropper loop there. At the bottom I use my jig head and on that dropper loop I use a 3/0 Gamakatsu bait holder hook.
@@BStavFishing thank you very much
Hey Bob , super vid as always ! WTG saluting the fallen 🇺🇸🇺🇸 FYI - caught a 24” @ SH on sat ! Thx for sharing - God Bless 🙏🇺🇸❤️🎣
Nice work!
Thank you for your recognition of those who made the ultimate sacrifice so we can fish and speak freely.
If you want to catch a bunch of flounder bring your boat down to Delaware Bay I have some good numbers where the big fluke hang out
Do you do any charters?
No. I don’t have my Captain’s license.
Great video. If fishing doesnt work out for you you can always go on tour with a singing career. 😅 lol. You crack me up great video as usual
Thanks Pete!!
Just read your article in the fisherman about trolling motor fluking. .. excellent article excited for future articles. Catch em up
Thanks Bri!!
Hey brother. How was fluking by you? I got a few shorts finally in the mantoloking surf. No keepers yet. Last year this time I had several over 25in fluke in the surf. Dam water too cold
Hey Peter! Water has been cold but I got on a good bite today in the sound at the top of the outgoing. Water was 65 degrees. Caught 10 shorts but it’s my most productive day yet this year.
@@BStavFishing great job brother 👏
Probably a 20 year or better subscriber to the Fisherman Magazine. I said that because I started out in NJ for many years and then "" resubscribed "" after we moved to PA. I think they're still shaking off the chill and the mud. How did the Blues come out that you caught last week and said you were going to smoke? Just asking. Stay safe and God bless you and cast well.
Hey Chris! Glad you’re subscribed!! The blues came out really good. 👍🏼 cured them overnight in brown sugar/salt/pepper mixture, rinsed them, dried them off, put meat church rub on them and smoked them for a few hours. Finished with an apricot glaze.
Excellent
I'm so glad to see this video. Great job cap, I'm so happy to see the fluke starting to eat. I think flounder try to desale the minnows before they eat them down. I think that's why they bite and let go a lot it's just what I think when they are really hungry. They seem to bite and hold on
Flounder are voracious predators. Normally, when they strike their prey it's with the intent to ingest it immediately.
@BStavFishing I have been doing some searching, and some people say its an old wives tail about the fluke descaleing the bait before they swallow it. but they say the delay in the bite is the fluke trying to turn the bait in its mouth before its shallows the bait, and usually, when you drop it back down quickly, you will catch the fish. I hope I'm not bothering just trying to figure out some new tactics. Thanks for your time
@@udtghost3860 no bother whatsoever. I’ve stated several times in many of my flounder fishing videos, that when they strike, and you miss it to go right back down and stuff it back in their faces because they usually will follow up with the secondary strike.
“nipples nuclear “😂 stop cursing at the blue fish…
Nice video. Glad you didn't get rained out and? The Bluefish saved the day! Where's da Flounda ? Too bad about the Wonder Bread Spook. Take care and stay safe.
Great video as usual brother!! That knife is the best imo. I have one. Title ur next video " fluke fishing" I promise you you will get doormats. Rofl 🤣
Great video cap fluking is tough so farThis year, I had to go to Squid and Minnie for the first time in a long time all shorts. 32 in blue by the bridge on a piece of bunker. I haven't used fresh bait in a long time .I can't wait till they trun on
It’s definitely been a struggle.
B Stav. I would love for you to do a video after your catch of you smoking your fish. I love to smoke just about anything on my Lone Star Grillz Pellet grill. So I would love to see your method. That's one thing , (fish) I never tried to smoke yet. Thx B Stav, love your content
Ok. I’ll definitely keep that in mind, brother. It really is a two day process because I cure the fish overnight in a salt, pepper, and brown sugar mixture.
How do you like that Penn battle 3 DX??
Hey bob, what boat do you have?
Carolina Skiff
@@BStavFishingthat’s what I thought. How’s it handle on the ocean? I’m looking to get one a 19footer for down here on the Chesapeake but was wondering how it would do on the ocean side on calmer days.
@@matthewfish3306 I pick and choose my days carefully.
@@matthewfish3306 Sorry for the short answer last night, but I was tied up. Since it's a modified tri-hull, it doesn't do great in a chop. I really pick and choose my days carefully. Luckily, my reef is only 4 miles out, so if it's sloppy out I can just take my time but I don't take too many chances with it in rough water.
Fun watching ! Thx B Stav 🙏
Thx
Best knife!!!
I went out Saturday as well and got one keeper. Was on a half day boat in Atlantic highlands. Couple of shorts but not a lot of action to speak of.
Nice day 😊
Bob, saw you Saturday, I was the guy in the Sea Hunt with my daughter being the captain, you yelled over. Tough fishing! She caught 1 nice keeper. Great video as always!
Great meeting you!
Thx for sharing. Still chilly early 🙏
I was also out Wednesday. Two shorts and one run off that broke me off, probably a big blue. This wind has been horrible and there's no end in sight.
Darn! You’re probably right. Some gator blues out there.
Im telling you for two years. Call it fluke not flounder and you will load the boat lol 😅
🤣🤣🤣

I wouldn't want to be out with all them goodies out there it's not safe
Agreed! I totally didn't realize it was Memorial Day Weekend. Too many weekend warrior googans out there.
We got the skunk Wednesday i seen people catch fish i stopped at larsons 6 keepers bought to the dock i think maybe single jig smaller baits. i dont know. great video B
I’m thinking you’re right! Smaller single jigs.
We did single jigs on 8 lb test last week in 3 to 15 foot of water. Two shorts and seaweed every drop.

It was more like opening day of trout season with that weather! I fished the surf in Strathmere with nothing to show for it.
