    Ive been pretty much decided that this Darkhorse will be my Second bike after riding my first the Harley Sportster 1200 for 2 years..... having a hard time finding a low mileage used but with my really good credit and now working two good jobs i think i can swing the payments.....i really have an erection over the looks and specs of these springfield darkhorses lol. Though im not very tall at 5'7, im very strong as a working man and can adjust the bars a little to be more reachable im sure. What a sexy bike lol

    ...?...Springfield...?... Well of course. If I was not able to get my Vintage, which I did in 2022, a Springfield was next in line. I've learned a few things in the way of differences between the 2 bikes. Front fork angle is greater on my Vintage, making Springfield more maneverable in tighter turns. I'm glad however that I can handle the difference. I rode an H.D. 2006 Dyna 35th ann. super glide for several months. And you know how forward the forks are on that bike. By comparison the Vintage is a piece of cake. Certainly the lack of security on the Vintage with non-locking leather bags is obvious. Springfield having hard locking bags is a major plus. So far I haven't been victim of theft, but it's always on my mind. It was helpful to know about the read on 'low fuel' indicator., but I always carry a 1.89 liter alum. gas bottle as good insurance. Question- I'm wondering if you have had any ECM elect.control module issues with your bike. Polaris had a recall & replaced mine because of starting & lights problems. Good informative video. Thanx.

  • @intendedconsequences

    Hey Susan, thanks for the perspective! I’m glad you’re enjoying your Vintage! I almost got one myself and they sure are gorgeous! I haven’t had any ECM issues or even the dreaded “Indian battery curse” so I count myself lucky. This video is a bit old but I’m happy to say that the Springfield is still rumbling along quite nicely!

    Gotta question? Been riding for about 5 years now started out on an Indian scout , now looking to up grade. Been really looking at the Springfield. I’m 6’1 bout 230 , would this be a good bike to upgrade to if you don’t mind me asking any input is greatly appreciated. I’m looking for riding longer distances and my scout just don’t work for me on longer rides.

  • @intendedconsequences
    @intendedconsequences7 ай бұрын

    The easy answer is yes, the Springfield is a great option! I’m 6’3 and very comfortable on the bike. If long distance is your goal, any of the bigger Indians ought to work. I like the Springfield because I don’t like fairings BUT the Chieftain is the same frame, just with a big fairing. But yeah, I’d definitely recommend still!

    Have a 2021 bought new, put bars off a vintage on it for more sweep before taking it off the floor. Thought i wanted a cheiftain but after putting quick release shield on it really notice the heat on days in high 90's witch is common in desert Southwest. Nice to be able to remove in a few minutes for shorter rides. Agree, bike does not like 30 mph twisties but is really nice in high speed stuff. Bike is very stable at speed. I also need to watch shock pressure. May pursue warranty before expiration in couple months

    Hi Douglas! Congrats on your first bike! I’ll tell you that our experiences were with a few local dealers and maybe not the same with dealers in your area. The biggest thing is the test ride and most dealerships, aside from Harley Davidson, won’t allow them on NEW bikes. I’d like to thing that dealers and private sales will allow a test ride, especially if you’ve got cash in hand. Bottom line though, it’s always worth having a conversation with the sales folks and seeing what they are willing to do for you. Hopefully you’ll have a better experience than we did at a few select dealerships. Good luck!!

    The reason it's so quiet. When you have 150 horsepower, and you actually rev the engine, it will become a lot louder. The quiet "stock" mufflers aren't exactly quiet anymore, at 9,500 rpms on most engines. If you are driving off road, on trails, you definitely don't want "loud pipes." I think the stock muffler on this bike actually looks cool too, and doesn't look like some ugly futuristic blob, like many new motorcycles out there.

    Harley did right giving demo rides. I've been watching every single Harley Pan America "demo ride" video on KZread. This is genius for Harley, for so many reasons. This bike has just turned their company into one of the top motorcycle companies in the world. You can see that the fan demand for this is bigger than just about any new motorcycle out there right now. And the fact that it's a dirtbike, means a lot of broken parts. They are going to make huge revenue selling factory replacement parts! It's a genius solution, to have a dirtbike that gets smashed and broken as part of it's normal use, and not covered by warranty. Harley stands to make tremendous profit from this. I just pray that Harley doesn't try to redesign this bike or change the appearance over the next 5 years.
