    Have a 2021 bought new, put bars off a vintage on it for more sweep before taking it off the floor. Thought i wanted a cheiftain but after putting quick release shield on it really notice the heat on days in high 90's witch is common in desert Southwest. Nice to be able to remove in a few minutes for shorter rides. Agree, bike does not like 30 mph twisties but is really nice in high speed stuff. Bike is very stable at speed. I also need to watch shock pressure. May pursue warranty before expiration in couple months

    I love my F6B, but i miss a VTwin and really what to treat ride one of these to compare to the RK. I have always thought the RK was the best looking bike made, but the dark horse really looks equally great too

    @@intendedconsequences well, I wouldn't mind having one, right now I ride a Scout Bobber, and as much as I liked the Springfield, I instantly fell in love with the Challenger. I'd like to have both, if I can make it happen, but since I'll most likely have to choose I'm feeling the Challenger. Mainly for the wind protection.

    @@Mayjay87 The Challenger is a great bike for sure! I'd probably have gone with the Challenger myself but I LOVE getting wind-blasted and seeing all the open road. I am totally in the minority with that perspective BUT I do get it. Ride on and let us know how the Challenger suits you over time. Oh, and lastly, the Scout is a fantastic platform as well!

    ...?...Springfield...?... Well of course. If I was not able to get my Vintage, which I did in 2022, a Springfield was next in line. I've learned a few things in the way of differences between the 2 bikes. Front fork angle is greater on my Vintage, making Springfield more maneverable in tighter turns. I'm glad however that I can handle the difference. I rode an H.D. 2006 Dyna 35th ann. super glide for several months. And you know how forward the forks are on that bike. By comparison the Vintage is a piece of cake. Certainly the lack of security on the Vintage with non-locking leather bags is obvious. Springfield having hard locking bags is a major plus. So far I haven't been victim of theft, but it's always on my mind. It was helpful to know about the read on 'low fuel' indicator., but I always carry a 1.89 liter alum. gas bottle as good insurance. Question- I'm wondering if you have had any ECM elect.control module issues with your bike. Polaris had a recall & replaced mine because of starting & lights problems. Good informative video. Thanx.

    Hey Susan, thanks for the perspective! I’m glad you’re enjoying your Vintage! I almost got one myself and they sure are gorgeous! I haven’t had any ECM issues or even the dreaded “Indian battery curse” so I count myself lucky. This video is a bit old but I’m happy to say that the Springfield is still rumbling along quite nicely!

    Thanks for the informative long term review, I am seriously looking at buying one of these, wish they still made the sage green color. For a tall rider like myself (6'-7") the Springfield Dark Horse is tons more comfortable and stretched out than a Road King. Just an FYI, I have a 2016 Victory Magnum and have to add air to the rear shock every 2-3 weeks, they just seem to slowly bleed off pressure.

    It’s gotta be the giant 116 cubic inch engine that weighs the most. That’s a lot of steel and fluids to keep that thing rumbling. The torque is fantastic though so I’d want to keep that.

    Gotta question? Been riding for about 5 years now started out on an Indian scout , now looking to up grade. Been really looking at the Springfield. I’m 6’1 bout 230 , would this be a good bike to upgrade to if you don’t mind me asking any input is greatly appreciated. I’m looking for riding longer distances and my scout just don’t work for me on longer rides.

  • @intendedconsequences

    @intendedconsequences

    The easy answer is yes, the Springfield is a great option! I’m 6’3 and very comfortable on the bike. If long distance is your goal, any of the bigger Indians ought to work. I like the Springfield because I don’t like fairings BUT the Chieftain is the same frame, just with a big fairing. But yeah, I’d definitely recommend still!

    Ive been pretty much decided that this Darkhorse will be my Second bike after riding my first the Harley Sportster 1200 for 2 years..... having a hard time finding a low mileage used but with my really good credit and now working two good jobs i think i can swing the payments.....i really have an erection over the looks and specs of these springfield darkhorses lol.
