I've never heard anyone say Licensed to Ill as being one of the best hip hop albums ever, but I absolutely agree. It's a legit classic. The fact that they play their own instruments is amazing, because its something they always got flak for in the past.

One of my faves of all times. If you haven’t heard Dire Straits do Sultans of Swing. You need to listen to that one ASAP. Another great one if you haven’t heard it is In the Air Tonight by Phil Collins but you have to watch the live version.

It's e x a c t l y like that! 3 dudes deciding to go out in a forest and get shroomed. Fun fact about me as a "troubled teen": when this song was new I used to sit around my mom's house waiting for MTV to play this, and depending on if they did I'd watch it and go to school. If MTV failed me, I wouldn't go to school that day. Yup, that's how old I am. 😸 I watched a lot of your reactions today, and you kinda made my day so I'm subscribing from now on. Yeah, you're stuck with a Swedish mom with anger issues and absolutely no impulse control, but hey! At least I'm cute when I smile! Much love, From STHLM, Sweden

Don Felder (double necked guitar) wrote the chord progression that loops over and over throughout the song, and one night, after a hard night of drinking at the Whiskey a Go Go club on the Sunset strip, Don Henley (drums) drove all night through the desert with the music playing over and over. As he drove on the lonely road, contemplating lots of stuff in his altered state, he passed neon desert motels and cactus and wrote a song about the transition from adolescence to adulthood. Once you cross that line and accept the responsibility of adulthood, you can never go back and feel that innocence again. You can never be a kid, and go back to carefree days of fun. He is amazed by the amount of other meanings people ascribe to it. Lots of stories of the occult, horror, satanism, ect abound this spooky song.

I was just 5 years old when this came out just before Christmas in 1976. Mom and dad only listened to Elvis, Johnny Cash, George Jones and Loretta Lynn. I visited my friend next door, and his older sister was kneeling in front of the living room stereo with this song starting just as I came in and took off my boots. I literally thought it was some kind of magic. It was so foreign to me. This is a band that all the members are the lead singer. Don Henley here (one of many singing drummers going all the way back to Ringo) Glen Frey, are the primary writers and sing most of the hits, but Randy Miesner on Bass sings their biggest hit 'take it too the limit" and Joe Walsh on the telecaster guitar sings as well. That is their biggest strenght and weakness. 4-5 front men in a band is a case of too many cooks in the kitchen. The tension with that many big egos in a room for much time will spoil the brew and adding cocaine to the mix caused many riffs and physical threats to each other on stage in concert.

Those days when you are out after a little rain storm and it is suddenly sunny but as you are out enjoying the outdoors it seems as though little sprinkles of rain dribble here and there in the sunlight. Many of those days are the best days of our lives. Fun, relaxed, friends and family......Very deep song.

I got to see Cypress Hill at Woodstock 94. They lit up a literal 8 foot joint on stage as big around as a garbage can. With a turbo fan, they rocketed smoke out across the crowd throughout their performance.

2 years before the RunDMC Aerosmith collab, Run DmC and the Beasties were fusing classic rock riffs and rap. The best screamers were Steven Tyler, Jim Morrison, Bob Seger, and Joe Cocker. AdRock is very close though. He is the member with the most attitude in his voice.

In 1987, The Beasties didthe JOAN RIVERS SHOW. and were so cocky and confident that they were black balled from tv for a few years other than videos. Letterman was a fan of them and had them back a few times, the one where they start 5 blocks away and run down the sidewalk rapping their way into the studio is a great television moment.

Hey nephew. This popped up on my feed. Glad I checked it out. I didn't know what this or any of CCR's lyrics were about while I was growing up in the 60's and 70's, but their music played everywhere on the radio. John Foggerty was the lead singer. This song was written about the impending breakup of the band. They have a prettly long playlist of hits. I have enjoyed their music more as I've aged. Kinda crazy we're both making these discoveries at this point in time.

Pete Davidson did some skits on SNL of Eminem songs and Em even did some cameos. Not everything Eminem does post 2019 is related to MGK. He likely even forgot that MGK exists. You started well but your reaction totally misses the point of this song. It's supposed to be fun and nostalgic.
