Twice now first on a 125 Super Cub and last year on a Rebel 1100 the 125 was clockwise from Glasgow the Rebel was anti Clockwise from Perth over the Cairngorms first then to JOG, I criss crossed the mid highlands twice as they are some of the best roads off the NC500, camping and not hostels both bikes were excellent but the Rebel was best for the motorways from Reading there and back. If you head straight on when coming out of Ullapool and do not take the NC500 route you will be blessed with one of the best roads across the highlands the A835 you could turn right before Garve across the 832 back to Kinlochewe to pick up the NC500 again you would not be disappointed if the weather is good.
