wonderful, cathartic on so many levels - to be restored and returned, "back to where it's supposed to be, from its original creation," after all that time and damage. Thank you for sharing.
“Every once in a while something transpires that pierces the armor and releases the butterflies” pure poetry. And then it turned into a commercial. Crushing. Julian, I appreciate that commercials are an integral part of staying in business. But this made me sad. Because I was reflecting on the delightful magic that happens when one is in a museum and sees a long admired treasure for the first time in reality. Butterflies. Otherwise I thoroughly enjoy your channel and am learning so much.
This must be that biggest change I have seen seen just from removing the varnish. I'm absolutely stunned.
I think this might be someone who is dying or dead. Skin takes on agreenish cast with death.
I was amazed when you took the excess paint off the woman's face, particularly her left eye. Her "soul" seemed to pop out of the canvas! You did an incredible job and gave her back her true essence!👍
Poppy’s work and attention to detail is exceptional. She is a real talent 🫶🏼 🐶
Great ending - hate to think of the cost!
Am I hearing Minecraft music at 28 minutes?
19:33 nice
His voice is calming! Not boring...but...if one is feeling anxious and wound up...his voice would lull you to blissful sleep. I've been so tired and suffering with anxious insomnia...put on his video.....and before I realize it I've fallen into a deep sleep.... Of course I rewatch as I find his work fascinating! If I was younger and had access to schooling to learn these techniques.. I'd be in like a dirty canvas 😁
AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGTOTAL METAAAAAAL I LIVE IN BUDAPEST MY HUSBAND WILL BE VERY HAPPY TO KNOW ABOUT THIS HUNGARIAN ARTIST BRAVISSIMO 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Bravo Julian and Kit.
A desirable/acceptabla patina on a really old painting would be some cracks in the paint.
If a batch of paint isn't quite right, I must wonder - what does Gamblin do with the batch? Salvaged, sold as inferior product, or just thrown to landfill? It's hard to imagine the latter, but it's still a worry.
Interesting you use the Spanish word for the plaster..
Reminds me of my archeology studies. However, we had thousands of pieces of different vessels, mostly brown and without decoration 😮💨
I saw come hither before she was cleaned and then I saw resignation after she was cleaned. I don’t know why, I’m not making up a story for her, I just see it. Your skill in art education is commendable. Thank you.
I've wondered how you handle impasto. I have a 55yo painting that needs a bit a bit of cleaning and restoration that has very heavy impasto and I wondered how that might be done.
u are beautiful ! and the work is beautiful
George you’re wonderful for saving something so fascinating and for seeing what could be. Julian and Kitt, hard earned skills and such dedication to your craft truly shines through in this piece.
before clocks, watches and other horological technology, we had Chronos, the god of time to set the pace and durations- here he is in a picture playing tug of war with a naked lady.....
Just saw a painting restoration on masters of craft and I just had to come back and watch your videos again to relive my soul!! I just wished they asked to do that!! I know your love and care into the painting would do it justice
Love this series!!! Makes me want to go to Belgium
Master❤️
Lovely little painting. Glad you were able to slavage it.
Why not pig gelatin?
The real one is in the State Hermitage, St. Petersburg , so this one is what? A artist copy?
8:58 don’t worry taking a sample is nothing wrong. They once took a sample of the top of my head in the size of a quarter to find out why I’m losing hair
Is this an advert for your work, or squarespace?
Kit looks like a living Peter Paul Rubens painting. I'd love to attempt a painting of her someday.
Not here to listen to climate hysteria. Here to see your amazing craft. Please leave that stuff out of your videos.
I absolutely adore this series!😊
.....................................................................................................................................,.,
I’d hate to see you have to do a pointillism painting 😵💫
Did you lay it face down on an old tack, or did my eyes deceive me😮
Suggestion. It should be possible with sufficient scanner to scan the image and identify the colours. You would then have a breakdown of colours, how to create that colour, and everywhere that it is wanted.
id love to know how much these painting are worth that he works on.
Wow! You two are very skilled.
I have no interest in Squarespace.
The eyes of the person on the painting with this touch of irony make real restoration not relevant: on the contrary, to m.h.o. "I'm still there...." he seems to say.........
13:14 ...washes over I.
As a therapist who loves your videos, I was very disappointed to see that you took a sponsorship from BetterHelp. I would encourage you to look more into the companies you take sponsorships from in the future :(
Wouldn't it have been a good idea to use some solution to bind the paint color better to the canvas? When cleaning I saw some color flaking off.
Didn't know Felix knew the naughty words.
Yet another superb restoration, so interesting to watch you apply your craft .I really enjoyed your narrative too❤ from the UK.
Did anyone find the name of the song during the cloud painting? It's so relaxing!
Finally, an owner shows awe and wonder!
How many times can you restore something?
I. Would love to see the paintings. You can do...they must be good.👍
I believe that in such cases, the use of AI to generate the missing parts of the image would be of immense help.
