    So sad how wicked men are and so focused on the world instead of the truth. How war and death and murder are so easily accepted as normal. I can't wait for the return of Jesus.

    Thank you for the kind comment. 🙂 Just to clarify, the city of Caesarea Philippi is not the same city that Paul wrote the Epistle to the Philippians to. They may have had very similar names (which can get a bit confusing at times), but the city that Paul wrote to is located in northern Greece. One day, I will hopefully get around to making a video on it, Lord willing. Thanks again. 🙂

    There are many examples of ancient coins like the lepton that still exist to this day, especially low value coins as more of them had to be produced to meet the need of an ancient economy. Google it and you will see many examples. Ancient coins were also rarely anywhere near perfect in size or shape due to the production method used which were far more basic than how coins are produced today. Also, these coins were often in circulation for years and were damaged and worn from use. A 'perfect' mint condition ancient coin is either usually a modern replica or a fake.

    Seems intriguing that Vespasian was known as muleteer throughout his life and his dynasty of three is worshipped as god. And if Antonian dynasty is trying to wipe out Flavian dynasty worship, then stories of early Christian persecution would be true.

    Hello! Howcome Bethlehem is mentioned in Genesis if the city was founded years later?

  • @GospelandSpade
    @GospelandSpadeАй бұрын

    Hi. Thanks for the question. The first mention of Bethlehem in Judah in the Bible is found in Genesis, which I believe is true. Now, the first mention of Bethlehem outside of the Bible is later than the time that Genesis records. That does not nessecarily mean that it did not exist before that time, but that simply put the archaeological record of it before that time is incomplete, missing, hasn't been discovered yet, etc. which is not unusual and is the case for many ancient cities that were much bigger and far more important than Bethlehem, which was never much more than a small town in biblical times. Hope that answers your question.

    They were probably called that because most of the inhabitants of the island were not Greek or Roman, but rather a mix of Maltese and Carthaginian and would have spoken Punic rather than Greek or Latin. So to a Greek or Roman that would have made them 'barbarians.'

    Now I'll update my comment and call a spade a spade. ALL Protestants are totally unaware of the importance of your name in ancient times. Your name was who you were and if god changed your name it was of vast importance. Simon's name was changed at the first meerting with Jesus. He changed it to Kepha/Cephas.John 1:42 Abram to Abraham=Father of nations Jacob=Israel father of his people Simon = Kepha leader of Faith Matthew's Gospel was originally written in Aramaic What Jesus actually said was, "Thou art Kepha and upon this Kepha I will build this Church.....," the Catholic Church. Jesus was talking about Peter as is shown by verse 19, which for some reason Protestants can't seem to connect with Isaiah 22:20-25 and Rev 3:7 The chief Steward to the King was second in command and became ruler when the King was away{Vicar of Christ} His badge of office were the humongous keys, to the city gates and the Treasury. they gave him the power to declare dogma, make rules and forgive sin. Upon death another replaced him {Apostolic Succession.} Read, learn and inwardly digest!

    You say Joash retook Dan. But there's no archeological evidence Dan had ever been Israelite, before Joash took it.

  • @GospelandSpade
    @GospelandSpade2 ай бұрын

    Some evidence that helps to confirm an israelite presence at Dan before Joash (besides the biblical account) includes a dramatic change in the material culture (food eaten, housing design, etc) found at the site after a major destruction and conquest of the city during the latter part of the Bronze age which corresponds well with the time of the Judges. Also, the discovery of the sanctuary dated to the reign of Jeroboam I and city fortifications (dated to the early part of the northern kingdom of Israel and which style of fortifications is found at other known Israelite cities like Megiddo) also help to demonstrate an Israelite settlement at Dan before Joash.

  • @Achill101
    @Achill1012 ай бұрын

    @@GospelandSpade - Many cities were destroyed during the Bronze Age Collapse, both in the neighborhood of Dan and in far-away areas like Anatolia. But is the material culture of Dan after that destruction similar to the one in the Highlands, like around Shechem? I don't think so. Even many cities in the Jezreel valley south of Dan don't share the material culture of the Highlands until they are destroyed again in the 10th century BC, and THEN they shared it. . . . From the Tel Dan Stele, we can conclude that Dan in 840BC was not part of the Kingdom of Israel but part of the Kingdom of Aram-Damascus that erected the Tel Dan Stele there. . . . I doubt that the sanctuary in Dan was dated to the time of Jeroboam I. I also doubt that there were city fortifications in Dan similar to the ones in Meggido and Hazor. Could you provide links for those statements, please?

    Most of my research is done via books rather than the Internet. Here is a brief list of some books (from a variety of different perspectives and opinions) that contain relevant information if you wish to look into it further. Fifty Major Cities of the Bible by John C. H. Laughlin Cities of the Biblical World by LaMoine F. Davies The Holy Land: An Oxford Archaeological Guide by Jerome Murphy-O'Connor The Archaeology of the Old Testament by David E. Graves On the Reliability of the Old Testament by K. A. Kitchen

  • @Achill101
    @Achill1012 ай бұрын

    @GospelandSpade - I'm myself an amateur and don't know these authors, except Kenneth Kitchen who's an Egyptologist with good reputation. What I assume the authors have in common is a wish to see the Old Testament to be confirmed by archeological finds. I don't share this wish but rather want to find out how it really was. (I'm a Christian but not a literalist.) . . . What the Minimalists had in common was a wish to show that all of the bible was written after 500BC, in the Persian Era or later, using maybe Persian archives for names of Kings and battles, but having NO recollection what actually happened before 586BC. Some even claimed the Jews were first coming to the southern Levant after 530BC and creating a history to justify taking the land. Against the Minimalist, finding confirmation of the names of non-kings is a confirmation of real history in the bible. I commend you for making those videos. . . . But finding some true history in the bible doesn't mean everything in the bible is historically true: archeology has also found contradictions to the bible, e.g. the absence of a conquest, by Joshua or others. There are many voices between Minimalists and literal bible believers. I happened to listen first to Israel Finkelstein, one of those voices, in the KZread series "The Shmunis Family Conversation with Israel Finkelstein". I recommend it, knowing that also Finkelstein will be wrong in some of his informed speculations.

  • @Achill101

    Because the story of Balam in Deir Alla is a story, it doesn't confirm the historicity of Balam himself but only that stories were told about him around 800BC.

  • @GospelandSpade
    @GospelandSpade2 ай бұрын

    Until the Tel Dan Stele and Moab Stone were discovered and deciphered, King David was also considered to be just a 'story' by most. However, since then, they have had to reconsider their earlier assumptions. Just a thought to consider. 🤔

  • @Achill101
    @Achill1012 ай бұрын

    @GospelandSpade - I think it was not "most" who considered King David unhistorical but only the Minimalist, a loud minority. Some of them even reacted to the Tel Dan Stele with "Fake" or "Misreading". . . . But was does the Tel Dan Stele actually show? It shows that the victor in a battle with Judah and Israel saw the king of Judah coming from a dynasty started by a David. Considering how important dynasties were and are still taken by kingdoms, we can conclude that David indeed started the dynasty that ruled in Judah around 840BC. . . . What does the Deir Alla inscription show? That people told a story about a prophet Balam. People tell stories about fictious and about historical persons. . . . The Mesha Stele has been known for a century. It might show House Of David, it might not. It took the Tel Dan Stele to remove that uncertainty.

    Why do the Hebrews say that NO cattle or farming of significance went on in Bashan? Rather, we are talking about sacrificing bulls to Nephilim kings. Wicked mortal men burning cattle to honor the ‘gods’ in the stronghold of king Og of Bashan. The Nephilim are also called the children of the Watchers. Read 1 Enoch and the book of Numbers. Abraham, Moses and King David were Nephilim giant slayers in Bashan and other areas. Wake up you simple minded you don’t have time anymore to dilly-dally! Seek Jesus now and escape the wrath coming upon the earth.
