  I know how to speak cat. I've learned from observing the body language. Paw up and purring: Let me rest my weary head on your lap. Looking up at a dangling toy too high to reach and mewing: Please lower the toy so I can play with it. Looking up at you and mewing: Please play with me. Rubbing round your ankles while purring: I want to be your friend. Twitching tail while sitting upon you and headbutting your hand: I love you very much. Watching you approach upon your return home and trilling: Hello, glad you are home safely. Tail between legs and mewing apologetically: I'm sorry for my actions, please forgive me. Hope that helps.

  We have too many "experts" passing judgment on the way Maple was or is being treated. There is nothing wrong with quickly picking Maple up to take her back to her own food. The word "no" while doing the same is not out of line. Cats can learn to respond to the word no without being abused.

  Maple is a very intelligent cat, I see that she needs more stimulation and challenge. You just give her a lot of affection. But thats not enough. She is clearly underchallenged. Therefor she steals things from the table and so on. Also if she was fully occupied, she would'nt annoy Piko that much. It is not her fault, if she is not kept busy enough by her owners. You should make clicker training with her for example.

  All cats like being naughty, sometimes. It would be difficult to give Piko a cheese tidbit when Maple is near. Idea: mix a tiny piece of cheese in with Piko's food so Maple doesn't see. That should do the trick.

  As someone noticed you have pushed Maple from the bowl too hard...I have noticed that too. You have not done so to Piko when he was disturbing Maple eat, exactly the same way. You have not done anything then, which is difficult for me to understand. Maple was behaving not good ,but that is not reason to push her harsh, like this. Cats are very delicate creatures, with sensitive nervous system, please do treat Maple gently.

  Your kitties are adorable. Maple seems to like the little wispy brush that twirls around. Just a note about the toy mouse on an elastic string, they are dangerous. I had one of those once, and after my cat pulled on it, it snapped back and wrapped around her neck. If I hadn't been there to cut it off and remove it from her, she would have been strangled by it.

  So much fun watching Pico enjoying his bottle .My kitties love each other but they have little personalities scraps a lot. No one gets hurt I think each one of them likes to be boss. Funny to watch them sparring with each other all done in fun. Your fur babies are adorable and they are a blessing to have. You’re a great Care giver.

  No-one could possibly give more love to Maple and Piko than you. It's not selfish to express the love you have for the cats. Just don't overdo it. You can't put a price on the love you get in return.

  Im sure you love Piko, and you slowly but surely growing to love the kitty girl too , ...For sure you are doing everything for them both to have good life at ur home . Sometimes we have to see animal good over our own...need , or fancy. I see and know many people keeping their pets in very small apartments, they never have been out, and those cats and dogs aren't healthy. Their condition is low, and their are always in some way immobile, so that for me means - seeing own benefit (because they want to have pet company, a "substitude for love, in some cases, quite many actually probably of being lonely etc, not saying its your case nesseserily)...over the overall Good of animal...That's all I'm saying. Wishing you all best, I so hope this lovely kitty will be healthy and happy with you, and ur family :)

  Piko may never fully accept Maple since he was king of his castle for so long. But he should get better with time. They were good together “hunting” for food from the bottle.

  I don't understand why someone could be so callous as to suggest you rid yourself of a family member. And those people that think adopted cats/dogs/other animals aren't family members have miserably small souls. These companions have value not only in their own lives but also the enrichment and empathy they bring to those who have chosen them, just as with any other personal relationship. You love them, they love you, and that's the bottom line.

  The people who have been counseling you to send her away do not understand the ability of cats to adapt or the willingness of owners to provide environments beneficial for their pets to thrive in. Of course you love your babies. Anyone who has told you to let either of them go is being mean spirited or rude. We have seen them both grow in their love for each other and their love for you and your husband.
