I've noticed that not every b'oat hire company bothers to explain the etiquette of locks.
Lovely canal! Beautiful trees and countryside. 👍🏻😊
That's what we loved about it Christine 😊
That is a mammoth cruise, you two must be knackered. Well done on how you handled it no drama. We’ll leave that to Andy shall we 😂 Any update on your van.
Josh I love the drone shots , I think that is a very pretty canal.
We totally agree with you Helly. It's a wonderful canal hard to get to but we'll worth it.❤
Love.. superb drone footage with my fave music.. beautiful scenic route ! Great editing and informative with that soft tone .. well executed 😊
Thanks Sue. You always have something nice to say ❤
I think I’d boat with a small chainsaw to clear the occasional low hanging limb or to assist with making it by downed limbs in the canal. Or does the crt frown at boaters doing this? Thanks for the vlog
I suppose you could give it ago but quite dangerous with a chainsaw when you are going along. A friend of ours does use loppers as he goes along but not since he was pulled of the back of his boat when they got stuck. If the trees are in people's garden I think it's their responsibility but on the towpath side should be CRT.😊
Beautiful
Thanks Nancy xx
Lovely vlog of this section of the canal, have walked this section at lease once a year is fantastic in autumn. Glad that your using this much under used canal with all it difficulty’s would be a great shame to lose the use of it. Enjoying your trip to date keep up the good work
You are right it is a beautiful canal. We have tried 3 other times to come onto it but couldn't. Firstly because of covid the lack of water. As they don't open it if there isn't enough water. Lucky for us this year we have had alot of rain.😊
South Africa watching. Does the canal water smell 😊
No the canal water doesn't usually smell but if they haven't been hardly any boats and it is very shallow you can stir up the bottom where the silt is so that can cause a smell.
Love all the trees 🌳 so very green. 😊Have a great weekend 😀
We lived tge Basingstoke canal Chris. You have a wonderful weekend too.😊
Stunning canal! Love all the woodland surrounding it 😃👍
Thanks Rachel we love canals like this and it's probably one of our favourite now and very quiet.😊
Thankyou take care.
Thanks Carol😊
What a lovely looking canal :) Almost as pretty as the Chesterfield lol
Almost as pretty as the Chesterfield. These 2 canals are my favourites.😊
Great to see Andy back on board , lovely wooded areas along there brilliant drone footage Josh , I cycled to Farnborough airshow once and there was an air crash that must have been 1968 !!
We loved the Basingstoke canal. It was beautiful 😊
Nah then, ey up me ducks. Love the look of this canal, such a shame it's not used more. I need to walk this and camp along it. Ay a good'un guys 👍🙂
It definitely not used enough. The trouble is we have tried 3 other times to come on but if there isn't enough water they keep it closed. Lucky it's been a wet year so all good.😊
@@TaylorsAboardaNarrowboat I'm glad you finally got onto it, it's lovely to see 🙂
The canal looks less maintained / more overgrown than others…less crowded too…perfect. Until u vlog again, thanks!
Lock rage 😂
Well. There's a right argee bargee!
Hello All, Spotted you a few days ago, I waved like mad, but you guys were on the stern talking. 😢 Perhaps another time🤔😁X🐰x
Given the chance I bet you two guys could get up to some mischief 😂. Roger is a great friend to have around and really enjoybthe vlog. Great work Josh!!
Lovely photography.
highball lovely video gorgeous scenery what a beautiful area take care of dave
Wow 🤩 now I see what you mean about the Basingstoke canal Josh! Informative as ever and those locks were tricky. Well done 👏 and look forward to the next one ☝️ ❤️
Thanks Sue. It's a beautiful canal. You and Tim should do it one day ❤
❤
What a lovely treed canal, some of the house were to die for! I like your cat top Diane, I hope you had an enjoyable time with George! Josh your knowledge sharing of the canals is similar to Colin ex Silver Fox that’s why I am following you. Keep up the good work Josh.
We had a lovely time on the Basingstoke canal Helly. It was wonderful and I had a great time with George and my little granddaughter Eden who is 2 months old now.❤
Respect josh what a top man
Must have been too shallow maybe? (The one that was double moored )
A shallow canal but it does get better the further you go along. This is our 4 th attempt to do this canal as it closes if the water level is too low. We were lucky this year as we have had so much rain.😊
Lovely journey really enjoyed it thank you
No problem its our pleasure glad you enjoyed it.😊
Never seen this canal it looks very nice but it's Ashame , it's so shallow which must make it a bit of a struggle in places. 😊 Thanks for showing have a lovely week looks like the weather will be nice. 😊
The shallowness isn't a problem as the beauty of the canal makes up for that Chris. We loved this canal. It's one of our favourite now.😊
@@TaylorsAboardaNarrowboatMine too! Thank you Josh and Diane❤
Brilliant vlog as usual👍
Thanks Jan ❤
Good see you cranking it on the cut
Thanks Lee 😊
Very nice vlog 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🍺
Thanks Thomas 😊
Hi Josh & Diana that's fantastic There is so much information about the Basingstoke canal I haven't seen another film yet like yours covering that canal you did so well with all those locks and they look in good condition really the Tunnel has been taken over by Bats as I think they had ideas of going into Basingstoke but the bat protection society said No it would upset the bats just before the tunnel is a pub called the Water witch and has a canal boat in the garden for children to play in !! The annoying thing is the bats move out the tunnel at night for a fly round 🙄. 🏏🏏🏏🏏
We loved the Basingstoke canal. Nice and quiet for us just how we like it.😊
Thankyou for the video bless you both
Thank you Carol glad you liked it.😊
And the bloody Heathrow fly path never far away. Poor Queen, even she could not stop those blighters.
Gin Cruise territory, I give you that. You are doing good. Keep on keeping on.
Great video. Great filming and sound. Have subscribed and will follow closely.
Thank goodness everyone was of the same demographic. It would have been bloodshed with kweffings galore if it had been another certain demographic!
The tow path…It was that overgrown due to all the rain we’ve been having. Trust me Im a professional!
Little known factoid nugget. Many people that live on boats will either empty their poop and wee into the canal or will poop and wee directly in there during the early hours whilst everyone else sleeps 💤. I found this out from people that live on boats in Wiltshire in Devizes and the surrounding villages. DSTM 🤷🏿♂️
Not every one that lives on a boat does that. We certainly don't.
@@TaylorsAboardaNarrowboat well yes there’s always exceptions to the rule.
do you still have to pay the national trust to moor on their land if you are members already?
I think you do not sure on that. It's probably cheaper if you are a member 😊
Hi really enjoyed your video as I know that stretch of the Thames really well having lived in Maidenhead for many years. I really like your camera work but the only thing that I don’t like is the hand on the camera,I think it’s rude but I know lot’s do it but I’m sure there is a more positive way of pausing.
I didn't think Josh does this until it's the end of the out tro and the end of the vlog. We haven't had any complaints before.
Wow this was mega helpful thanks so much, moving onto our Narrowboat Lerryn next week so perfect timing, your a star ❤❤❤
Troublesome people who feel they are a priority Diane 😠
We have had many over the years Jan but the lovely people we have met make up for the odd few you meet in life 😊
Where is Andy?
We done these cruises when Andy was a work then it's not a problem where to park the car as it's harder on a river.
You have just as much write to be there as anyone the pompous self opinunated ???.
There are quite a few snobs on the Thames lol 😊
Another lovely cruise down the Thames and no need for the woolly hat Diane. Looks a lovely day. What a mammoth cruise and hopefully you slept a bit better. I regularly wake up at between 3 and 4 and can’t get back to sleep. Do envy Josh sleeping right through! Lots of lovely scenery. My nephews used to go camping on one of those islands near Pangbourne on overnight bug hunts with a bush craft guy. They loved that when they were under 10 years old. You must have so relieved to stop eventually and I’m looking forward to the Basingstoke. I haven’t seen any vlogs on that canal yet. Sleep welll. Take care. Marilynx
Glad you enjoyed the vlog Marilyn. We did love the Thames 😊
I love the way your mum takes of those nob heads, made me laugh.well done your mum.
I say what I think it's going to get me in trouble one day lol 😆
Sending love thanks
Thames. Sorry.
