  • @Leonsk08
    @Leonsk088 ай бұрын

    Hi, it sounds like you have other issues with your disc drive. If I had to guess I would say since Wii Sports is likely much smaller in size compared to other full titled games, the laser mechanism doesn't need to travel/access different areas of the disc. Perhaps this is why it only makes noise with certain games. Good luck with the fix.

    Actually got a Gamecube compatible Wii for my 30th birthday 2 years ago, as I've missed old N64 games that were released to GC. It made this exact noise, and I found several different causes for it. With no means at hand to remove the tri-wing screws, I put it aside. Bought the tools about a year back, and put them aside too. Saw your video and decided to give it a go, it was barely visible but corrected the arm best I could. Shrugged and assembled it again. I've now enjoyed my old favorite game Ocarina of Time for a few days and finally got to show my gf what's so great about the game! Thank you mr sir, invaluable guidance!

    That's awesome. I'm glad this helped you get your system back in working order. The Wii is still a great machine, especially when you factor in the homebrew scene - it just opens so many more options. Since you fixed your drive and mentioned GCN compatability, I assume you were playing Master Quest - great game. If you are running composite or component video and want to upgrade to HDMI, I suggest you look into picking up a Mayflash Wii HDMi adapter. I personally tried a cheapo one and it had all sorts analog video noise scrolling across the screen where as the Mayflash one was perfect. Happy gaming.

  • @Leonsk08
    @Leonsk08 Жыл бұрын

    Ok gotcha. I would say if it is tilting up and down then the motor is not gunked up with carbon as the motor operates the tilt and slide feature. I would ensure that the buttons that activate your slide switch are actually creating a circuit. You may need to disassemble the switch and check with a multimeter. I do not know to what degree of disassembly is required. A simple test would probably be listening for the power relays activating as you operate the slide buttons. If they operate then the slide buttons are creating a circuit. Also, try tilting up the sun roof to check the slide rails for any debris that may be causing issues.

    Hi. Thanks for the comment. I'm pretty sure I just found a picture online, scaled it up to my ideal mask size and traced the design directly from my monitor. You can use the trace to determine the dimensions of the mask and start to build the shape. After you make your mask you can transfer the design by cutting out the inner portion of the eyes, mouth, etc. on the trace and place it directly over the mask. Then trace the perimeter of the eyes, mouth, etc. If you use this method be sure to use a painter's type tape so that it will not stick to the surface of your monitor too aggressively. To justify the boost in power you would probably want to be able to use higher end emulators like Dreamcast, Wii, Gamecube, etc. and the Tiger simply lacks the control mechanisms and or the real estate for the extra buttons. • @Leonsk08
    @Leonsk083 жыл бұрын

    Hi, nice to hear that you had two years of service out of the repair. After some research it seems that the carbon contactors aka brushes simply need to be cleaned after a considerable time. The film that builds up on the copper rod contacts is normal and provides a protective layer but obviously too much causes connectivity issues. It seems that excess wear of the brushes (causing excess carbon film) can be caused by weak springs that press the brushes against the copper rod. Also the materials which make up the brushes wear differently and some are considerably more durable. I imagine any sort of grease would cause issues as it would mix with the carbon film. Below is where I sourced the info. Best of luck and thanks for the comment. motioncontroltips.com/faq-how-can-brush-wear-in-dc-motors-be-minimized/
