I was diagnosed with sudden hearing lost in May 2017. I was told there was no cure and tinnitus (loud ringing) set in my ears, so I decided to take a break from my work life and stay with my family. As a director, film maker in the entertainment industry, I was in search for something to soothe my hearing. I found peace with my first LEGO modular build and it felt like my own therapy. I figured with all the gear and my production studio why not create my own KZread channel and do some reviews. Then I came across brands I never heard of and felt like reviewing them too. Four months later and great feedback from you, the fans, and touching messages, I've feel like I've only just begun. Having turned 40 this year, this manchild is ready to have fun and hope to bring joy and a fun journey for you! Until the next video...BRICK ME OUT!

Thanks for the thorough follow-up on my comment about brick brands! A blog post on your store would be great to get all the details you said in writing so it's easier to refer to. I totally get the "inside China, it's all the same, outside China, we're different brands" experience. It seems to happen for practically every cheap consumer product, even when you look at "customers also looked at" alternatives on Amazon. And you as a distributor AND reviewer have a unique position to pierce the veil of Chinese factory secrecy. ;) Regarding minifigures, I think Lego's trademark only covers its own specific shape of arms, legs, torso, head. It seems every alternative brand has their own shape of the body parts to avoid trademark infringement. I think you could do a video showing all the different ones you have without worrying about legal issues. And I would watch that video because it could be very fun: you could do some parody of different brands' figures battling other brands'. There are some really interesting designs with improved function compared to Lego's minifigures. I think it's Xingbao's design which allows the arms to rotate horizontally as well as vertically at the shoulder. That gives a huge boost in poseability. Every time I play with those I'm like "I wish Lego's minifigs could pose like these!" COBI's design is also pretty remarkably different, but not as good at posing as Xingbao's.

Thanks for sharing. Nice stories so far and you probably have enough stories for a second channel. You should definitely do more of these. Once they get to Neverland, Hook to me is a very good movie. Rufio is definitely one of the highlights. So cool that Dante Basco got to do the voice of Zuko in the Last Airbender. Did you know that Hook also has a cool arcade game? I discovered that maybe ten years ago. It's a 1 to 4 player beat 'm up and you can play as Peter, Rufio and few of the other Lost Boys. Nice to see those Shell sets. One of my first Lego sets were a Shell Service Station and Petrol Tanker. I also bought a brick Stealth Bomber once, because Lego was never going to make those. A lot of flat tiles in my set, I can see yours has nicer pieces.

That interior is unfortunately very plain, it feels like they're going for kalos level detail but falling short on the execution
I have more fond memories of the Kalos sets than these tbh.
A great looking set on its own but will have issues if putting it in a city layout. But it would work for a theme park

They spelled dessert right, but didn't check on the meaning of sweetbreads. Definitely not what i want in my donuts!😂 Thanks for telling us what factory they use and what the clutch is like, but imo you can just put that in the description: no need to spend video time on it. 😊
If I only put in the description many will say I need to mention in the video. I get a lot of people asking about the other brands even though I've repeated myself over n over...so gotta think about the new guys that come in and don't know.

Not too bad for Baka's first sets. Donut shop is a little busy in the front but all in all looks good.
Looks good - I agree no minifigs would have been better as you would think you can display some Figs inside the passenger area of the plane.. But does look good

Cool that you have built and reviewed a first Baka set. I don’t like the sticker mess and that you can’t fit in your hands so easily. But overall it’s still a nice set.

The sets look far too "disneyfied" and christmassy. The set would have benefited from a white color instead of the flesh and blue colors (like the new BigL Disney Castle) and fewer gold and red accents. A cleaner and more classy design would do the set a lot of favor.
I was so distracted by the flying colors I forgot to mention the skin tone colors...though the tone isn't as bad as the urge set.

I think from a distance it looks pretty good, closer up though it's a bit off. I don't hate it, but there's just something about it....I bought the Magic Castle set from these guys though, so hopefully that one is good.

My father and one of my ex-students have also tinnitus, and I myself am an autist and bricks sets help me in many ways, so it was double reason for suscribing to your channel. Your editing works look awesome! So that's why you don't know Cantonese :o I was always wondering why, but wow, you actually have a multicultural family! Things I would like to know: What is your top 5 favorite sets until now? What was your first set? Which countries have you been at? What other brick youtubers do you watch and what you like about them? While I can't buy you sets because of where I live, your videos have inspired me to buy non LEGO stuff always, and some alternative brand sets I have are awesome. Greetings again from Costa Rica!

I just finished this build today! Probably took 10 hours give or take. I wish I could upload a pic of it! I eliminated 4 sections of the track to that it would fit on my shelf and look nicer. I've done the DORA gun as well and it was a fun (and sturdy) build! Looking forward to the KALININ Airplane build!
It's been so long I forgot about the KALININ, at the time I did the video they never released it..did they finally do it? lol. They had so many more that were supposed to come out. I've only seen more recent sets from them.
