ScyllaStew

ScyllaStew

Ever wonder what would happen if you trained a raccoon to wear eyeliner and write? Notable accomplishments include:

-Eating an entire large pizza in a single sitting
-Setting fire to a small field
-Convincing her cat to sit at a table like he's people
-Once ate gold fish crackers out of a puddle and kicked a boy in the shin because she liked him

Currently I write the webcomic Orc and Gnome's Mild Adventures #OGMA I also design merchandise, write stories and am currently going through the Drawabox courses. Which is probably why you are here.

This video is very interesting and helpful. It contains a lot of practical, constructive and clear suggestions on how to proceed, to what to pay attention and what to avoid. Compared with some other drawbox videolessons there is no rush here, no speed up recordings, there is no just philosophical deviations. It's just calm and quiet conversation about multiple concrete ways and methods to make a progress and to get better in this challenging task of drawing a box. And that was exactly what was badly needed Thank you for that video.

I'm more accurate with a fountain pen grip like @ScyllaStew, rather than a pencil pen like Comfy shows.... Is a fountain pen grip like this okay, long term? I want to get the right habit now... I like a pencil grip too, I'm just way less accurate :D so maybe I just need to practice more? Thanks all and hope you can help me!!

The parallel marking of the tics isnj't in the "next 50" page of the guide and I think that really helps make things make sense.

So as long as I’m understanding this correctly the mental challenge comes after we have already drawn these boxes as a form of clarifying where these boxes intersect. Okay doesn’t seem that bad

Very cool video. I am wondering what is going on with the audio, though. Is there a gate being applied to the audio by chance? That's kindof what it sounds like, like the audio is being ducked as the dB dips bellow a certain amount.

Thanks for all these reviews. I just started draw a box and bought 3 fine liners. Staedtler pigment liner 0.5mm, Micron 0.45mm and uni pin 0.5mm. I noticed that the pigment liner has the least smudge, then the micron, then the uni pin. However, the uni pin has the darkest, most consistent black tone, followed by the micron and then the staedtler. The pigment liner looks a bit grey in comparison to the uni pin. I also noticed that holding the tip of the staedtler on paper results in the ink slowly bleeding into the paper, which doesn't happen with the micron and uni pin. I'm guessing the pens have varying amounts of alcohol/drying agent in the ink. So the staedtler produces a more watered down but faster drying ink whereas the uni pin has a more pigmented but slower drying ink. So, pros and cons. Not sure what I prefer yet. Maybe there's a perfectly pigmented, smudge free fine liner out there somewhere. I think I'll start with the uni pin and if smudging's an issue I'll try another.
