  Huh, didn't expect to see an Otzdarva reference in the game that made him quit! Still - appreciate the reference even if I can't forgive the game. Friggin' loved Otzdarva while he graced the Dark Souls community.

  ​@@theshagohod Well, DS2 was the best era for souls content - for sure. Otz was pretty outspoken about his disdain for DS3, and his content in that game suffered too. His DS2 content was fun since you could tell he liked the game and that his community enjoyed it too. Not so much for DS3 - that was just "Well I have funny hacker friends we can laugh at in lieu of a fun game to play".

  @@user-jo4cn3vq3l I mean, Otz quit because DS3 wasn't a fun game to stream with fans like DS2 was. Most of the mechanics he enjoyed from previous games were removed in DS3. And then he made the mistake of doing that horrendously painful DS2 no-hit run, so he burned himself out on DS2 hard. Not to mention there's not enough money in streaming DS2, since he became full-time. Final nail in the coffin was that Dead by Daylight streaming did him super well - good money, sponsorship from the devs, and he clearly enjoys it more than DS3. Just sad - he's truly a gift to whatever community he invests in. The DbD folks are lucky. Otzdarva made two versions of the video TheShagohod is parodying here: this one has the same spirit as DS2's video, where Otz had fun in DS2 with a very goofy non-meta setup with a stupid premise. When Otz made the DS3 version of the same vid... the whole point is that it couldn't be done anymore. Having fun with goofy setups during DS3's initial release period was basically impossible because the ganking and toxic players were so, so bad. TheShagohod can make this video because now most of those jerks are playing Elden Ring now 😑

  It definitely has more stable netcode, since its levels are so much smaller. Elden Ring very, very seriously would benefit from DS2's latency resolution mechanics.

  ​@@theshagohod Well, it would benefit a lot from having DS2's mechanical foundation instead of DS3's, but sadly profits from the massive IGN crowd take priority over improved gameplay design. DS3 fans outnumbered DS1 fans 5 to 1, and ER fans outnumber DS3 fans about 7 to 1. Fromsoftware has figured out what sells - it's not what fans of the original games liked.

  you use twinks and overlevels interchangeably, but the classical definition of a twink is someone who plays the whole game at a low level or has their friend drop them end game stuff so they can noob stomp in the early areas. an overleveled phantom is a completely different but somewhat connected issue. When you invade, particularly at low levels when your build is far from complete, overlevels create incentive to twink. when every invasion has at least one lvl 400 phantom you’re basically throwing if you don’t have max flasks and some of the tools in your pocket that can only be acquired late game. I actually don’t have a huge problem with that when it’s done legitimately, because it does take skill to venture into high level areas without upgrades. The problem is that everyone that twinks has their friend drop them the items they want, so there is no skill involved whatsoever. They can throw rot pots and lightning all day and nobody can counter them - unless there’s another twink. It’s a vicious cycle/arms race and it’s the main reason I stopped playing until the DLC. every invasion is either a massive sweat fest that nobody really enjoys, or it’s over in seconds because the host is clueless and I’m optimized for the gank squads. tldr: game sucks, play something else

  Biggest issue is the 3v1 system because 4 max players, secondary most phantoms host sucks because they have zero knowledge of how gank and anti gank works.

  @theshagohod probably realise the p2p might bring the worse outcome of pvp players so make it 4 max as safe to avoid game bug and crash. But really execute badly with the unbalance of invasion. Don't get me wrong invasion are really sweat and coward sometimes but the advantage on host just unfair comparing every way.

  they do get equiped into inventory, only problem is they are something like 20 total healing items and with low vit youll be one shot by the time to die 5 times and also the starting weapon and armor is dogshit

  bro I HATE DROPKICK I finished a match not long ago I'm so angry that my hands are shaking like I was hit by the dropkick the dropkick animation ended I was running away out of nowhere the guy dropkicked me IN THE AIR LIKE THE GUY IT STARTED LEVITATING AT LEAST 10 METERS OR MORE FROM THE GROUND THIS DOESN'T EVEN MAKE ANY SENSE the human can dodge all the possible abilities of the night hunter but the night hunter can't do anything, I just needed to vent even though I know no one will read it That's it (sorry for the horrible English)

  I am allowed to open my menu, I'm just not allowed to USE it. As for bonfires, I allowed myself to use them as not using them would have 2 outcomes: Either the run becomes boring and way too long (I've done a no bonfire run before). Or The run becomes impossible. Both outcomes are uninteresting so I allowed myself to use them.

  The thing is, terrible players will get merc’d Decent players and bad players that have a brain will typically win but a smart hunter will sometimes win. Good players and cheaters with half a functional brain stem will win every time no matter what.
