    @@tubbatravels Thanks for that. Just in case anyone else follows this thread, I've spoken to Veronika at Inchnadampf hostel and they are no longer accepting parcels for anyone just passing through (as opposed to booked in) because last year they had so many uncollected parcels "with rotting food"! I've also added Kintail Crafts, since I need to break the load even further. And just an additional note, that I've watched videos from all sorts of people following this trail and yours are the most helpful and I shall be following closely in your footsteps.

    @@briandunning2974 thank you Brian. We did camp at inchnadampf so we didn't have that problem. We are hiking the Pennine way this summer and have two food parcels to send to the camp site at malham and also a youth hostel, both places we are staying at. I understand them not accepting food if the person is not staying there. The kinlochewe post office we sent via a method called post restante. Most post offices will hold that for you for two weeks. It sounds like you are preparing well. I wish you the best of luck.

    What a great day you had for that hike! So much easier when it's dry! You were lucky where you camped that the cattle weren't there. When I passed by there in 2019 they had destroyed a guys tent with him in it! I aways thought Sligachan was pronounced Sli...gaaaa...chan rather than sli-gi-chin with the ch sounding as in loch, but the Irish gaelic seems to sound like you pronounced it..not too shabby for an Englishman..:-) Since you said you don't like heights I wondered how you would get on on the section to Elgol...it's a drop off for sure

  • @tubbatravels
    @tubbatravelsАй бұрын

    Hi Iain. Cows? I wonder how they get them there but there were sheep come to think of it. They must come from behind as you're looking out to the water. The sheep were no bother but we'd have been stuffed if there were cows there. Lucky! That poor fella who got his tent mashed. I am getting a bit better with some heights but the bad step was not on the cards. I'm not that brave yet and Lisa was in agreement. I'm allowed I think to try a Scottish accent, you as I've mentioned before I'm the first sasanac in the family and was brought up with a mum with a Scottish accent but my auntie used to say I had a terrible Scottish accent god rest her soul, she said it how it was. I cheered for the tartan army in the euros this month and I bit my thumb nail all the way down in 1978 Argentina. Ally McCloud made us all believe that Scotland would win that world cup. I Iain. I don't think the hotel is very hiker friendly. They had a sign saying toilets are for guests only, no hiking boots. The road walking was a bit roady but the two lochs were interesting walking. Is Skye where John of howgate had to carry his dog? I have watched some of his videos, very good channel. He seems to have gone AWOL recently. We had to spend the next day going back to the car in flodigarry to swap the tent as it leaked in the torrential downpour on the night but I didn't film that day as it was a nothing day really and rained all day. Lucky there was a spare tent in the car Don't usually bring one but I had doubts about the tent. It's good that you can bounce around this small island even if the busses aren't that frequent. I do love a waterfall. Walking 15 miles a day is about right to feel like a good walk but not so far as to destroy us. This day was a short one as I remember but the terrain will affect things. Thank you for commenting.

    Hi Lisa, Hi Niall, it looks like your luck ran out with the weather, but man it's still stunningly beautiful. Not sure about the Hunchback of Notre Dame look Niall, but hey, who said long distance hiking was an extension to London Fashion Week. The bell's Lisa, the bell's!!! 🤣🤣 All the best guys, have a cracking weekend. Dave

    Ha ha ha, I'm the incredible hulk not hunchback, but yeah, not my best look. First time properly testing the poncho but in an 8 hour deluge it did keep me perfectly dry. Have a good weekend Dave.

    Thank you. Portree is lovely and the colourful buildings are a well known photo opportunity. We really did love Skye.

    No, I didn't go down to the beach but the signboards there to read were cool. I like you slept in the tent on that trip but I stayed at Flodigarry where you pitched and walked sections without a full pack getting the bus back and forth each day until Sligachan. Looking forward to finding out if you took the Big Step route!. I wanted to but my partner didn't , so I missed seeing that.

    Hi Iain. Well the bad step? I don't want to ruin it for you but a clue would be I'm ridiculously scared of heights. It was a bit disappointing not to see the dinosaur prints but I doubt I would have found them. I've been foot prints hunting in two other places in Skye and had to re visit both sites and only found them when I knew what I was looking for and exactly where. It's a mystery to me how the experts can definitely say, yes that's a dinosaur print. I guess the Skye trail is doable by returning by bus each day and hitching worked for us at the end of stage two. Taxis are too expensive.
