Skye trail stage 1 Phone box to Flodigarry (1 of 7)

We bought the cicerone book.
We hiked and camped the route following the stages in the Cicerone book but sometimes stopping a bit short or a bit after a stage end so as we could wild camp.
In these videos I try to show the route and places to wild camp as well as a few giggles we had along the way.
This is episode 1 of 7

Hi Iain. Are you back hame fae Scotland? I'm down on the south coast or I would have come and hiked a bit with you. I remember your videos about the Skye trail. You had terrible weather and couldnt even see the quiraing let alone risk going up there. I'd say it would be easy to walk off the edge in bad mist. We had great weather for the trotternish ridge, next episode, but the weather did turn. It's Scotland after all.

@@tubbatravels Almost home! Upstate NY at the moment back home tonight in Seattle. Yeah we had a couple of days of real bad rain and visibility and didn't manage the whole ridge for that reason. I camped exactly where you camped at Flodgarry and used that as a base for the next 2 days taking the bus back at the end of each day and then getting it back the next day to where we left off. That worked out a treat!

Hello both. I love a red phone box. Looked a great walk. I'm with you on the farmer putting the fence so near to edge, no need. That little bothy looked awesome, amazing views from the window. As you mentioned quite a few good places to wild camp. The first one had a nice wall for shelter. The hostel looked great. Lisa is a darling getting your tea ready there. Beautiful little spot you had for your tent and all yours. Nice👌 Looked a nice pint in the pub. I like a proper beer. Many pubs don't have much choice with ales and beer. Wetherspoons always has many though. Looking forward to the next parts. Great job👏👏👍

Thanks Jamie. I'll always head to the weatherspoons. The pub was £6.50 a pint and it was my round!!!!!! Scotland is great for camping and just a little breeze means no midges. I properly cacked myself on the cliff edges, legs go to jelly. The bothy would be great to sleep in. It would give you. Good headstart in the morning. It took us two days to walk stage 2. But we had a great camp up high on the ridge but that is episode 2. All the best Jamie.

@@macinthewild8116 man, I have a KZread pal called Iain frew. Same thing happened to him this year in the Cwt, he got the food poisoning and had to bail. I got ill on coast to coast but luckily had some spare days built in so I was able to sit in the tent for a day and a half drinking water til I was better. (Sort of) Think that was sun stroke. You'll get there, I think starting again from scratch is what I would do.

Nice one Tubba and Map Girl! A lovely and exciting start to the trail. Pesky farmers with their barb wire fences it looked a bit dicy well down with that. Hi Snowy, Maybe the farmer will move his fence when some one's took a tumble, but the barbed wire? I'm quite new to the island. It does get very busy at the tourist spots but in between them people are scarce so there is solitude to be had. I would definitely go back and try some other hikes, I'd even do this one again, the quiraing was cool (next vid). Thanks for commenting Snowy.
