    This is great. I am Canadian with Dutch ancestry(Van der woude) so that makes it even better! Canals are excellent motivation. The problem with open lakes is the scenery doesn't change like it does for KZread runs like Bike the World. Variation is good for engagement. If you ain't Dutch you ain't much!

    The Hood Canal of Washington, USA. Some scullers wear a little mirror on their head or put one out on the rigger, but most of us just look over our shoulder every couple strokes. In larger boats with a coxswain, they are facing forward and steering for us.

    Nice to see a video of a 'real' row rather than one from the back of a powered boat (obvs you can tell by the oar disturbance in the water). All are OK, but this is special.

    I love this video! I am recovering from a back injury, and this footage reminds me to go gently. It's safer for now than your 'misty viking' video. :D I lived in NL for two years, and this scenery brings back so much of the atmosphere.. it's even autumn, my favorite season. Thank you!

    Ouch, here's wishing you a speedy recovery, and good job pacing yourself. That's hard to do sometimes, but will be worth it in the long run. Glad to hear you're back on the erg!

    By happenstance I came across this rowing scenery video when looking for some new ones for my Erg workout. I was pleasantly surprised by the waterway location. As a founding member of the Olympia Area Rowing association (OAR) I have rowed this waterway many times over the years in my Pocock single, in a Maas Aero, and in a quad. The HCC made this video at a perfect time at high tide and when the water was quiet; flat black glass. Depending on the time of the year, the beauty of the scenery changes. Fall and spring are the best for shoreline colors and jumping salmon. Harbor seals pop up to take a look at who is making noise on the water. I moved out of state and am now regulated to indoor rowing on a Concept 2 erg. Thank you for this video.

    I enjoy several of your videos, but this is my favorite! Between the misty scenery and the choppy water (and with Wardruna on my headphones), I can imagine that I'm not a housewife erging in my New England basement, but a shield maiden rowing toward a battle beside Ragnar and Lagertha! :D Thank you for the great videos; they have really helped me get - and stay - in shape, even during a long Vermont winter. You do good work. <3

    Woah, battle rowing. Different kind of immersion idea! Hail Floki for building us such a sturdy craft to cross these waters, although I don't think he could be our coxswain without everyone cracking up. Needs to be somebody super scary instead, the kind that yells, "PULL THIS NEXT POWER TEN FOR NJÖRD, OR THE JÖRMUNGANDR WILL RISE UP AND DRAG US ALL INTO THE DEPTHS! POWERRRRR TENNNN!"

    You understand the concept of rowing? This video is maybe not made for you ...

  • @a.ramonl9930
    @a.ramonl99302 жыл бұрын

    @@noway915 Yes I do, completely understand rowing, I have done it for years. However in a house on a rower the concept (in my opinion) does not apply. I am rowing for exercise in a closed room and it would be far more engaging if you could watch a forward looking change in scenery. I watch other things to remain engaged, wouldn't want to watch a movie constantly looking at people's backs but that would be 'correct' from a rower's standpoint.

  • @tonysammut3799
    @tonysammut37992 жыл бұрын

    @@a.ramonl9930 In fact the scenery changes as much going forward as going back, since you're going the same speed either way :-) I think I know what you mean though. I like the videos done by Hydrow, which are done using a seperate boat following the rower (with the rower encouraging the exercise), but these are professional. I think the ones done looking backwards are more authentic.
