Check the description for the additives and fragrance information. The oils/butter recipe itself is my own. There are plenty of others widely available that you could use and find elsewhere, and you would achieve very similar results.

Hi there - hard butters, like cocoa and shea, are on the list of butters and oils drop down. You can formulate your ingredients then decide the % you'd like to allocated to each.

Brambleberry/SoapQueen have a handy list of oils and recommendations on % to go with. I know how much oz is my mold and the percentage of of oils and butter but I need to how can I get the oil weight do I first do batch size and get the oz for oils from there that's where I'm confused
This is a good question. Where did you buy your mold? If the amount of oil capacity is not listed in the product description, then I would suggest tinkering with the calculator until you get a total in the "soap weight before CP cure or HP cook" line that equates to the mold's total volume. This would be your water + lye + oils + fragrance values summed together. Nurture Soap, as one example, will tell you how much your OIL the mold holds. Did you add any preservative to your coffee soap so it won't get rancid or develop orange spots need to know hope you see this and answer
No. I've never used preservatives in any of my soaps.
Pls if you want to add lemon puree, or Tomato or AloVera how do u add that the calculations?
Those items would be considered a liquid, and have no impact on the SAP value (i.e., the amount of lye you need to dissolve to get saponification). So, if your recipe calls for - example - 20 ounces of water, you could use 20 ounces of Aloe Vera. I find that it is easier to dissolve the lye in an equal amount of water (e.g., 10 ounces of lye in 10 ounces of water), and then add in my additives, like 10 ounces tomato to make up for the remaining liquid. This is a personal preference though.

Probably not, but you want to ask more soap makers because I have not personally infused olive oil with anything floral.

Your first starting point is to know how big the mold you will be using is, and then work backward from there.

When you freeze your coconut milk, do you freeze just the cream part or do you use the water that’s in the can as well?
I freeze all of it. I usually shake the can pretty well so its mixed completely, then put it in cube trays and freeze it.

Yes, that's cocoa butter. They come in pretty small pellets when I order from Brambleberry. Can get them in natural form, or larger wafers from other suppliers as well.

So 16oz would be for what size mold ? If you want to make 2.5 be mold how.much oil ? In oz ? For example
You’ll want to check with your supplier. They should identify in the description how much total volume a mold can hold. Then you have to work backward in the calculator from there. For example, if a mold can hold 50oz of volume, you’ll want to make sure your oil + water = 50 oz.
Width x Depth x Height x .42 = your oil amount for that mold
Hello Tiffany, great video!! But what changes in the calculation if I replace the water with another liquid like tomato or aloe vera juice?
Thank you! No changes. The metrics that matter are the amounts of oils, which will tell you how much lye to use. The medium you use to dissolve the lye won't change those overall numbers. If you used, for example, 12 oz of water, you would also use 12 oz of aloe vera juice. The only thing to note is that thicker mediums like coconut milk or fruit purees make it hard to tell if the lye is fully dissolved so in those instances I would do a 50:50 water to lye mixture, and then add in the milk or puree to make up for the rest of the liquid. I usually stir it for 1-2 minutes and make sure there are no lye "rocks" or anything still at the bottom. You might see some lye lint on occasion which tends to float on the surface of your solution. If you use a strainer you should be all set.

How much water and oil per 1 kg of lye
It depends on the type of oil(s) you use. You’ll have to run the quantities for your ingredients through the calculators to get the accurate numbers.
Did you add lye to the oils?
At 3:24 specifically, was that more lye?
No. That was a small almost empty container of sunflower or almond oil followed up by a more full container of the same oil. The lye was measured and mixed at the very beginning of the video.

Thanks so much, Jessica! Two things really help: water discount, and gel phase. My water to lye ratio is usually about 1.5;1, and with the exception of my soaps that use coconut milk, I force gel for all of my batches. Hope that helps!
@@TiffanyRifferSoap yes that does! I recently started discounting to 35 from 38 ( I'm a newbie lol) I also like forcing gel because it doesn't leave you with surprises, so I pop it in the oven afterwards.Thanks again for your help and happy soaping!

Thanks! I found a cheapo soap measure on Amazon (quality is exactly what I paid for, as in not great). The write cutter and wooden plainer (which is what I had to raise the soap with to cut all the way through) I got on Rakuten and shipped from Japan. I’ve since upgraded to a multi bar cutter which was pricey but well worth it!!
Question which you may have answered but my volume is down because my kids are sleeping lol is the lye to coffee ratio the same as it would be if it were water?
Yes! Brewed coffee is my liquid for this soap.

hello, i like your video thank you for sharing. but, everytime i do my calculation my cleansing and bubbly is 0 can you please tell me what i did wrong. i try with these ingredients, olive oil, mango butter, cocoa butter and shea butter?
Hi there - what % are you using for each? You might want to add in coconut oil for cleansing and bubbles (try including about 20%, with a super fat 5-7%)

I’m curious about your loaf cutting set up. Is this available on Amazon?
Hi Alexis, some parts of my set up I did originally purchase from Amazon. The plastic loaf cutter is here: amzn.to/2LIFg1G. The wooden bevel and the wire cutter I purchased on Rakuten (shipped from Japan). Similar items are also on Amazon, but since I've not personally used these I can't attest to their quality: bevel - amzn.to/35SlWWD and wire cutter - amzn.to/3qxMlAQ I highly recommend reading the reviews for all of these products before purchasing. They each have their pros and cons. I've since moved on to a multi bar cutter, but still use this original set up for my coconut milk based soaps. (PS these are Amazon affiliate links. You’re so right about the price of multi bar cutters!! Mine was not cheap but I really wanted uniformity and view it as a long term investment for my business. When you do get to the point of getting one, I purchased from Plowboyz Woodshop on Etsy at the recommendation of other soap makers on Facebook.

Hello!! Google translate tells me you're asking whether it contains beeswax? If that's right, then the answer is no. I don't typically use beeswax in my recipes, but you could use it in your own and still achieve similar results. This soap turned the nice dark color from the coffee seed oil and the espresso fragrance oil.

My coconut lye mix got thick do u know why that happened
That happens to me sometimes. too. It's the lye reacting to the fact in the coconut milk. You can use a whisk to stir and loosen it up. You can also use a mini mixer if you have one. (I do both of those things and it works well.)
Did you put the soap in the refrigerator for a few hours since it contains coconut milk? I have a fear of using milk because I’m scare off volcanos or cracks
Yes! For this recipe because I used coconut milk I put it in my freezer. One time I forgot (like a dummy) and put it in the oven for CPOP and had lye pockets. I was so sad, I had to trash the whole thing. I have read that other soap makers have CPOPd with milk and no problem but I prefer not to mess around with anymore.
