A common beginner mistake is paddling with the nose of the board sticking up super high. It’s impossible to get any speed or movement this way. To successfully paddle you need correct body positioning on the board. You want to lay down in a position so the nose is just above the water. If the nose is too high or too low it severely limits your ability to move.

one of the things missing from lessons and videos is when to pop up on the board and how to time it. I've been a skater and snowboarder my whole life so this is all basic stuff

I have a 5’7 seaside and it goes great in less steep waves. Thrives in SoCal & did great in off season Bali. Downside - did not do well in thumpy hollow playa hermosa CR

Thank you for this video .... I have been surfing most of my life .except the last 3 to 4 years . I have been fighting a rear abnormal protein Disease. Amaladosa Al . I have been on chemo. Every week for 3 years . And I lost my back mussels for paddling.. I went out surfing for the first time last week in 3 years .at HB and upper Tressles. It was a junkie small day but that is OK I just needed to get back in the water . But I was so frustrated. I know what I want to do but my body would not let me . I felt like a Beginner. My paddling was pore and I didn't catch one wave . This video will be a big help to get back in shape. Please keep making your videos . Have a great surf session. Keep surfing !!!!!!

Thanks for the quick motivating and clear tutorial. I think I'll get with some locals to find the best spots and some 1 on 1 help.

Nice videos Please make a video about weight vs volume and how loosing weight allows you to surf smaller boards in small waves I was 82kg struggling surfing with a 35L board and I'm dieting now to reach 72kg and hope it works better Many thanks

Kale,I was thinking about getting an OG flyer but in the round tail.5,10 @29.4 litres. I have a few 5,8 CI's(other models) and was thinking a longer rail line may help in the bigger waves with open face carves.

You need to drive up and forwards with your hip and shoulders, which gives you thrust....Not so much compression extension legs and arms, rail to rail you need thrust...White lightning Mick, powerful hip and shoulder thrust, going toe to heel, notice their arms and hands are more static..."Parko shredding DBah" is a great education vid, arms low and cocked, thrusting with hip and shoulders rail to rail....Hip going up and shoulders gives the strong forward extension up and forward, quiet arms...What people see their minds get wrong, it ain't up and down toe to heel..
