This is a 15ft kayak, so if you enter the center hatch, the rod tip would hit the interior stern from the mid point back if longer than 7.5 ft. since the center hatch is set forward, an 8'6" rod should fit. You can also use the front hatch if you want to stow a rod of 13'.
