I understood from the show that Lihua probably ignored both the flower with the note and her rival's warnings for the same reason. She wanted to keep the attention and affection of the emperor. After she gets well, she makes Maomao understand she doesn't feel like she can compete with the emperor's favorite. If the flower with the piece of cloth had been left by someone else hoping to gain her love, which is honestly how I'd interpret a flower left in my path, her accepting it might be construed as her affections turning from the emperor to another. This in turn might get back to the emperor and lead him to reject her. So, flicking it away might have seemed the safest course of action. Then, her rival tells her to stop using a famously affective beauty product (if you see lighter skin as more beautiful, which I don't, but it seems like many in the show do.) She probably (wrongly) thought her rival was attempting to get her to abandon a weapon in their warfare to attract the emperor to themselves and away from the other. To me, her continued ignorance is tragic, but understandable.

This video made me appreciate the Serie because well I disliked her when I watched the show. But this made me realize that Serie too cares about human lives but doesn't quite understand that yet.
Can u please make some type-moon content it’s the strongest franchise in anime with their base abilities giving them immeasurable speed. & my power scaling playlist has all the proof we need, my essay playlist also proves it has the best written characters in anime especially in the girl aspect.(something shonen struggles with) Like generic anime channel’s shirou vid, it’s billion$ budget & ufotable even come together to give us peak animation of any year they drop or period. It’s also the lotr of anime with lore on lore & galore.
I think you're treating Lihua unfairly here. For one, the altercation we see where she is being admittedly unfair to Gyokuyou is before Maomao warns either of them. Her son is dying, she's extremely affected by the poisoning, and isn't mentally all that functional at this point. She's also never given the note from Maomao in the anime version. Gyokuyo is nowhere near as affected - she likely used the powder a lot less - so she's still rather healthy and mentally all there. I don't see how you can read this scene as Lihua being willfully cruel. It shown that she's normally not like this at all. It's the sickness talking, not her.

I think you captured the theme quite accurately: love heals. I agree with you that Miyo needs to find other things to live for other than Kudo. I think that's the biggest mistake romance media often makes, is that it subliminally sends this message, to girls and women in particular, that your soulmate will be your everything and you won't need anything or anyone but him. I'm 31 and still single but I can confidently say from my own experiences and watching and talking to others that that just isn't how reality works. No human being is selfless and perfect all the time. You will fight with your spouse and they will disappoint you sometimes. As it is with all relationships, be it friends, families, colleagues, or aquitances. When you base all your happiness on one person, then your world will shatter when that person lets you down. And they will. It's inevitable. A healthy life means balancing all the relationships in your life and having something of your own that gives you a purpose (typically work but not necessarily). As much as I absolutely adored this anime, the thought i kept having is that it isn't real at all. I've heard stories of girls getting married to get away from their families, or girls thinking marriage will improve their life. Most often, those situations end poorly. This show is most definitely a female fantasy, but I won't fault it for being one. It deserves all the praise you gave it for the reasons you did. The show already with the 2nd half shows Miyo growing in confidence and starting to find purpose with her powers and I really hope the show continues that trajectory with the 2nd season!

Is there a certain number of episodes that you have to watch to get invested? My wife and I struggled through two episodes and gave up.
I’d say the first four but if you didn’t like the first two it might not be the show for you

By far my favourite kind of video. From how you delivered, to the tone of your voice, it really showed how much you enjoyed Frieren for its themes and other aspects. The Stark section hit me the most as its very relatable. Relatable to the fact that we can think that all this time we may have brought only dissappointment to the ones we love/care for. However, through another perspective from a third party or simply remembering those moments. It can mean a whole different thing. Love, as a whole, is truly most awkward feeling and emotion, but the strongest once communication has reached.
This is one of those shows that's even better on second watch, knowing the story already.

I love the use of the Tears of the Kingdom soundtrack. It jibes so well with Frieren. So much stylistic and aesthetician overlap between the two.
There' s one thing I love about how this series treats time and love. It's two short scenes between Frieren and Serie. Flamme knew Serie would tear up Flamme's final will on reflex, but also knew Serie's love for magic and more importantly her student. So, even if it took hundreds of years, Serie would take on human students. If not for her love of magic, but her love of her students.
I probably would have watched this series sooner if it was called Vodan: Beyond Journey's End I.C.Y.M.I. Locklan: "Frieren is an elf." Captions: *VODAN is an elf*
