    Zoom...... "Stay in your lane." You have "The game" backwards. Most musicians want the LapDaw and mini-corder separate ! We just wany to download our tracks to a portable device so we can Jam or Gig on the fly. Don't challenge the big Daw, you'll lose. A simple R8 is all we need. (Mobility)

    Removing Midi made the SD useless. I want the old one that could burn CD’s AND had MIDI functionality. They basically downgraded the”New” model til it was completely unattractive to buy. The “Model” series look amazing, but you certainly get more for your money with the older dp series. I wish they could have made a wood panelled model series that did everything the old ones did. I’d reckon at least a large percentage of the type of folks who use music equipment to this extent are the same kinds of folks who still want and/or appreciate physical copies of their music. Even local garage bands still want to be able to hand out or sell CDs. Plenty here in Boston are still resorting to handing out tapes for cryin out loud!

    I love my Eurodesk 9000 and I never have a problem, its is very versatil. I bought it in 2005 and I still use it in many proyects with hybrid mix and outboar gear like api and neve style preamps, compressor etc. The routing allows me many ways of hybrid mixing

    i don't understand why the R12 and R20 were changed to only allow looping in playback by copying and pasting further measures, thereby repeating your recorded measures in the 1st region. i don't want to create a timeline for a whole song until i mix down. why did Zoom get rid of the R8 ability to loop measures continuously in playback?

    Yeah, and you can't use any of your music software from EQ to voice software like Revoice Pro and hundreds of more audio plugin and sound libraries, synths etc etc... Much better if you stay flexible, and not be shut out from all the amazing audio plugins available.

    I finally got one about 2 months ago. I have the SD with the floppy drive. This was my favourite sysnth. Well, it still is. It needs a battery and the ROM cartridge doesn't work. These were almost always in my repair shop. They seemed to have power supply and memory issues. MY SQR suffers this trait, hence, it sits on a shelf somewhere, since you can't call them for technical assistance anymore. Bummer.

    Haaaa, well said! The most frustrating thing to me was that it did not have a control in quarter inch Jack that allows you to use a foot switch to press record. The R8 does. I had to mod the r24 this week and install a quarter inch Jack and a wire to the record button circuit leads. The other frustrating thing about the r24 is that you can't assign the input you're using to another track. You literally have to unplug it and plug it into the other track. This is not true on the r8. Because of these two issues the R8 is superior minus the available tracks

  • @PowercoatMusic
    @PowercoatMusic16 күн бұрын

    Thanks for your quick reply. You said you didn't have issues using an external preamp while recording (with the DP ?). I assume this means that you have actually used external preamps with the multitrack recorder. If this is so, could you give an idea of how you go about the process ? I mean, like plugging in, and adjusting levels and so forth. Again, thanks

    If I connect my keyboards on the midi patch bay the sounds of the keyboards will be the exact natural like on jacks?

  • @PowercoatMusic
    @PowercoatMusic16 күн бұрын

    Patch bays are basically audio routers. They can't change the audio sounds passing through them unless a connection or cable is bad and then you might get either no sound or possibly some additional noise of some sort. Thanks for watching.

    This is an excellent video. I was aware of most of these functions, but this really solidified it for me. One thing I am looking for is, can single tracks be named while using the recorder. I know I can name tracks once I take them to Audio depot and then to the computer. Is there a way to name single tracks.

    Not excactly true about the income of the chinees workers, as the middleclass really grows. There are now more than 300 million….millionaires in China. These people are doing so well, because the system totally swapped to capitalistic overnight in 1990. When I was a kid a chinees worker saved up for a bicycle, now most saves up for a Tesla.

  • @perlaursen1885

    Problem is that workers in the USA and Germany are so spoiled, that they have completely lost the ability to compete anymore. They have gradually become more and more lazy, and they dont feel loyal to the company they are working for. Its called disruption. Happend in Liverpool after WWII production stopped, and in Copenhagen in the 80’ ties, when the industry completely left the city, and went to the mainland and abroad. How do Copenhagen Island provide for the population? It have made thousands of state jobs without any productive content, or the “workers” obligation to be on the job, for the hours they are paid for. Where does the money come from? It comes in by heavy taxes, paid by the hardworking labourforce on the Mainland, that makes some of the most famous industrial goods in the world, and the agriculture production can feed 6 times the population of the whole country. Someone always pays the bills, and there is no such thing as a free lunch.

    The BEST way to utilize a dp32 is to employ it as a tape machine/recorder. Feeding the inputs of the dp32 with 8 tape outs from your console. The real disadvantage of tge dp32 is the connectivity. Really not alot of connectors. But it works great as a tape machine for your console.

    Been through it all for the last 56 years as a musician, recording engineer, and audiophile. Analog tape (reel and cassette multitrack), digital tape, hard disc recorders, computer recording, MIDI recording, SD recorders. Used them all. hated them all until 15 years ago and my ZoomR24 SD recorder. Rock solid digital recording without a single error in 15 years, NEVER had any gear like this, perfected recording. Every time I press record the Zoom recorded perfectly. This led me to Vangelis style of recording, to record the complete song from start to finish in one take to a multi-track recorder, then mix down, master then done. Today with the 8 inputs of the R24 use a 32 channel mixer subbed to the 8 (4 stereo) inputs of the Zoom. The mixer allows the use of aux loops for current technology effects. For the one take every engineering aspect is taken care of and after days or weeks of practice I hit record and record the entire song effects, EQ, levels, all perfected during the practice sessions. I have been ecstatic over this one take recording, every emotion I have is deeply expressed in the moment as the entire song is recorded. I have not, and will never get that emotion out of over-dubbing and building a song track by track. This one-take has inspired over 70 albums over the last 15 years, incredible!

    How does this mixer sound on its own. I mean the preams and eq. If i plug a mic directly into it and record into my daw. Or i take the alternate plug my mic int o focurite 2i2 and record straight into the daw. Which will sound better. One more thing if i pass audio singna from my daw into this unit and then back into my day fir summing. Will it make a signifant diffence in the quality of the audio. I ask because someone wants my yo buy Mx8000 but i dont know if i should get it or not

  • @PowercoatMusic
    @PowercoatMusicАй бұрын

    What your asking can be very subjective. It depends on a number of factors as to if something will sound better or not. You have to know and understand for yourself what you think "Sounds Good". What sounds good to you may not to someone else for many different reasons. Can this mixer deliver professional results? If the unit has been well-maintained and used competently, I would say yes. Folks have done a lot more with less. Please keep in mind that in too many cases it's not the gear, but how you use it. I hope that helps, and thanks for watching.
