ZOOM R20 vs Tascam MODEL 12

Two powerful hardware multi-track recorders packed with features, with vastly different prices and workflows, are both top sellers. Which one is the best? You be the judge. I do an in-depth analysis of their features and specifications, and compare that data to find out what makes them so different and special. Watch this presentation now to get all the results you want, need, and deserve. #ZOOM20 #TascamMODEL12 #DigitalMultitrackRecorders
** CORRECTION: In this presentation, it was said that the R20 runs on batteries. That is incorrect. The R12 runs on batteries, not the R20. **

I chose to analyze the Tascam MODEL 12 and the ZOOM R20 because their workflows and specifications are very different, but both are very popular. Anyone interested in purchasing these types of units should be aware of what they can do, so they can avoid buying the unit that may not be the best for them. With this, I decided to take a closer look at exactly what makes them different. I hope this information serves useful.

Hmm so HUI/MCU emulation...So motorized faders. Does the model 12 have a button that will jump the faders from tracks 1/10 to 11/20 for example? Obviously you can't make physical I/O appear or disappear, and change eq knobs etc, but usually you can snap the faders to other tracks beyond that with MCU. Could be a plus if only want to control fades and pans for the moment.

@@PowercoatMusic i thought only the r12 was battery powered. Do you mean using an external 12volt battery? That would be really helpful to know, please explain!

I was in error, as I was referring to the R12 and not the R20 on that point alone. I added this correction to the presentation description. Thanks so much for pointing that out. It's appreciated. 👍🏿

It might also be worth noting that the r20 usb interface cannot access the recording tracks neither to record the digital input or to output the signals from the recorded tracks. The r20 usb interface ONLY connects with the analogue inputs and outputs. Although I'm not exactly sure what happens to the 4 usb inputs as i can't get them to work from my mpc. I suppose they are summed to the stereo main output or return as 4 direct mono outs ... but there aren't any analogue outputs beside the main stereo bus...

Not according to Tascam. MODEL 16 and MODEL 24 are analog, not MODEL 12. I spoke with Tascam to confirm, because that topic has been an area of dispute. If you have any further questions, please contact Tascam support. Thanks for watching.
