I wouldn't say the Switch created a handheld revolution any more than the Game Boy (and a little more recently, NDS and PSP) did. Switch itself is a customized Nvidia Shield, and before Switch there was a flood of high-spec Android and PC gaming handhelds that were usually poor quality and very expensive. For the the latter, Steam Deck was the revolution, and other companies are now releasing affordable handhelds that can handle more than emulating consoles up to 5th gen

The dual screen foldable capability of the 3ds systems not to mention COLORFUL system options for ur color preference made it THE best hand held console. I do NOT like the switch it is NOT nearly as hand held friendly. Hands & wrists easily become awkward and/or sore. The only thing I like is connecting the switch oled to my tv to see games on a much bigger screen and the small thin controllers being taken off the system to hold in ur hands is much more hand held friendly cuz ur holding a small fraction of the system in ur hands; the controllers only when its hooked up to the tv. 3ds is supreme imho cuz the dual screen made game layouts much better and some games utilized the touch screen to make a game much more interactive and fun (ex: pokemon ranger, cooking mama, even normal classic pokemon games u can tap the touch screen to select which move u wanted to use). The 3ds was also easy to hold and carry around and certainly much easier for extended long sessions of hand held play. Its battery lasts a LONG while of the day. I just want them to re-manufacture 3ds systems again & put all 3ds/ds games back on a digital shop for purchase while adding in gba games as well. The only thing id change is adding a tiny hardware piece in the 3ds system for bluetooth capabilities to connect ur phone and in the future create a new pokemon app that could make ur phone a modern pokewalker but for all those 3ds/ds pokemon games instead of only exclusive to SS/HG. Id buy it directly from nintendo in a heartbeat.

PC is just better for Japanese games and JRPG's, which is why handheld PC's, like the Deck, Ally, Go, etc, are so much more exciting. The only reason to get a Switch 2 is just for Nintendo's 1st party exclusives, which will likely have longer development times than Switch 1, thus sit around collecting dust most of the time. Nintendo's follow up consoles typically sell a lot worse than their predessor (Sales order: NES>SNES>N64>GC, Wii>Wii U, DS>3DS, etc), so the Switch 2 may likely also sell a lot worse than the Switch. So yeah, even though handheld PC's might not sell as big as Switch, collectively over the next couple of years, we could be looking at a handheld PC market that rivals the sales of Nintendo's current handheld. And you also have to remember that Nintendo gamers don't buy 3rd party stuff in the same numbers as 1st party, which is even more reason for 3rd party developers to stop supporting Nintendo entirely. Most of Nintendo's software sales come from casuals and parents buying their games for their kids; the games aimed at the AA-AAA enthusiast market don't sell anywhere near as well, and the people who buy those games now have the option of handheld PC's to play those type of games, portably and with better graphics, mod support, free online, etc.

I haven’t seen anyone comment about it on here and I didn’t know it either when I first got mine but don’t use the left pad to scroll up and down like that. Rotate it in a circle clockwise or counter clockwise around it. That’s actually how it’s supposed to be used. TRUST me it works way easier.

'Just playing Steam games' is a weird negative remark to provide though. Steam has the largest games store out there, on any platform. Also, the OLED model is definitely worth the additional cost. The screen is gorgeous and has fantastic HDR/90hz, but most importantly the battery has double the duration of the LCD and the system is lighter to hold. I've been playing Kingdom Hearts on it today and at 90fps I get over 7 hours in battery, heh. (Not a new game per se, just saying.. the battery issue is solved with the OLED and I no longer have to worry about it.)

Lol, I see a future video in your future with the title “I was wrong about the Steam Deck OLED…” The upgrades over the LCD are massive, and easily worth $100. Many of them aren’t even listed, such as being able to wake the Deck from sleep with a BT controller, you know, like any other modern console. And the OLED screen on the Deck is miles better than the Switch OLED. I have both and the Deck is bigger, brighter, faster and has HDR.

I just Homebrewed my console, had to buy a new MicroSD and adapter/reader for my PC, I ended up going with a 128 GB card because it was the largest size recommended by the guide I used (Apparently there can be issues with cards larger than that), and it's still barely enough, I've only got like 3-4 GB left empty on it after I installed everything, that being said, absolutely worth every dollar spent on the stuff I needed to do it, I highly recommend it

The thing that makes the OLED deck lasts beyond its hardware is the capability to stream HDR on the OLED from other devices (PC, PS5 and potentially more in the future). When the hardware is no longer capable to drive the games, the ability to stream HDR to the deck at 1000nits extends the longevity of the deck greater than the LCD

My Deck fried after 1 year of use. I absolutely loved it. When I took to get fixed they said it was water damage. Must have been that ghost water that doesn't exist. (I am 100% certain that it could not have possibly been water damage.) It still works as a web browser. I absolutely loved it but it is VERY FRAGILE. Beware!!!

I think the success of the switch is cause of COVID and Animal Crossing. New horizons was my favorite game on the switch and many others fell into playing animal crossing for hours during Covid. TBH I don’t think the switch would’ve sold as much if not for animal and even smash ultimate. Those two games, maybe add Mario kart 8 deluxe, are the main reasons people bought the switch.

Weird way to look at the price difference. The 512GB LCD model saw a price drop of $200 from $649 USD to $449. You're jumping in on a product that anyone else who bought it before you paid $200 more than you did, so saying that an extra $100 isn't worth it for a better screen, higher refresh rate, massively increased battery life, etc., when others paid $200 more for what you got just feels odd.

Just proving my point, I was arguing with Nintendo players few months ago about 7 years long game lifespan (1 console that can run a game) is too short for games and Nintendo should do more for compatibility or atleast longer support. Whilte they arguing ,,7 years is lot of time, nothing can last forefewer", few months after that come survey about how old games on different platforms are played the most, and Switch is literally only platform with medium old games less that 7 years, on PC it is 12 years old games. WiiU was in production untill 2014 and 3DS was some made even in 2020, that consoles are not really old.

ok lets clear up a misconception 16:13 the Ally that's "starting at $400" is terrible and won't play hardly any games besides old games or low end emulation (like N64 and older) and if it is a new game, it has to be games like don't starve, the binding of Isaac, and Stardew valley. you can forget about 3d games. the $400 Ally is so much of a performance drop its actually about the performance of a Nintendo Wii U. but with windows taking up recourses making it weaker

If you want to buy a new deck, buy the OLED. It's not that much more expensive and offers more for the money. The longer battery life and the quieter fans are a blessing. It's a different story if you want to buy used. Then the LCD is a good deal because you can get it very cheaply. I would just consider how you feel financially. You'll have fun either way.

To get a better streaming experience from your 2ds to your PC there's a way you can trick your 2ds into thinking your PC is a wireless access point which means your 2ds will stream directly to your pc without having to first go through your wireless modem. Just look up how to create a virtual wireless adapter it works almost flawlessly.

The LCD is still fantastic and I certainly support anyone's decision to go with that model over the OLED in order to save money, but that's not what you did lol. Bro, for what you paid, you could have bought a used OLED 512GB. They're all over FB Marketplace for $500. I understand if you wanted a brand new unit, but most Deck users take care of their stuff. I've bought many second hand ones and I've never had an issue. I mean any Steam Deck is amazing and I'm glad you "saw the light" with them but I feel like you went the wrong route here.

u showed a play station streaming device. Cant remember what is it called. Portal it's called portal (i am no Playstation gamer as you can see lol) But that is not a handheld PC by any stretch of the imagination. I have 2 steam decks and a Rog ally and a Quest 3 and a gaming Pc. The steam decks are gathering dust and I really should sell them. No point when i can play starfield or elden ring at 1080p high or max settings even at really playable FPS especially starfield with frame generatioon. But elden ring is up near 50 to 60 fps on Rog Ally. So I am not gonna go back to 800p low at 29 fps drops 35 fps max on steamdeck when i can have the former.

I am being nit picky lol. good video mate. i just prefer my ROG these days. would like to upgrade to rog ally x but tbh don't really need more battery have anker prime and a siwiqu battery. I don't mind a usb c cable running to the rog ally to my backpack or pocket etc. Rog ally battery life has never masttered to me. I never use it just the addon batteries or the socket tbh. I got 2 hours playing kingdom come deliverence in the park and still had 34% of my anker prime battery amd 100% of my rog ally battery lol. Plus the SIWIQU one in my case.

I ordered an oled yesterday!! Really excited to replace gaming on my old laptop with it. At first i was worried about "what if they announce a steam deck 2?" And realise they wont be around until 2025-2026(When they become readily available) and maybe 2027-2028 when they get a revised model like the current Oled. So i think staying with my upcoming one for 4-5 years until a much more upgraded model like the current oled is to the first steamdeck is perfect with me
