    I was a sawer on a wildfire crew and worked 21 days in a row 18 hrs a day to get 2 days paid off. 4 lbs difference is enormous. We cut mostly brush on steep slopes maby bucking firewood all day would not matter as much. I had to trade saw for radio when I was 36 years old. If I could have shaved off 4 lbs off saw I would have ran saw till I was 40.

    I’ve had a 7310 for a couple of years decided to try the 400c recently owning both saws I notice the weight and higher rpm range of the 400c with that being said the 400 feels better in hand to me but you can’t go wrong either way both great saws.

    Four pounds does make a difference at the end of the day. I normally run the 462 all day. But if it has been a hot one I may grab a smaller and lighter saw at the end of the day.

    2 Questions young man ! 1st. What do u think of the sthil 400 magnesium piston, how durable is it ??? 2nd. Can the 400 supply enough oil to a 25' bar ??? I do thank you in advance for an answer Gunter

  • @whatsthebuzz1
    @whatsthebuzz112 күн бұрын

    I can’t really answer the durability question, I would need a couple more years of cutting first. I can answer the oil question, my opinion is the oiler is weak. Does not through a lot of extra oil when your cutting.

    My local shop (here in NC) has a 395 that I have my eye on. It’s got a 36” lightweight bar on it. I have a 585 that I enjoy running. I mainly use it to mill and help neighbors with big stumps. I can probably walk out with that saw for under $1100 like it’s set up. Probably going to get it in a few weeks. It’s nice to have an honest opinion of it. I know a lot of Stihl guys dog out Huskies, but I love my orange saws. I am not a logger or arborist, I just love the art of cutting trees. I just enjoy the process of it. If grabbing ahold of an 80-90cc saw doesn’t make you feel more like a man, then you don’t need to be in my orbit. Thanks again for helping solidify me decision.

    I recently bought a 562 , and I haven’t been disappointed. I got a decent deal from my local shop. Doing a muffler mod soon. And with a wraparound handle bar on it, I run mine with a 28” bar and I enjoy it. I haven’t ever run an echo, so I’m a little biased. Much love from NC.

    If you put a 8 tooth sprocket on the 680, you will gain more chain speed and the saw will compensate that. The 680 has just 16m/s chain speed. Saws like the 500i, 400, etc. have 20m/s up to 24m/s.

    Great video, apparently the bees wax used this way improves their durability by rejuvenating the leather. It absorbs into, and moisturizes the material so that you end up with more supple yet sturdy leather that won't crack.

    Why make a older saw work that much harder by putting a bar on it that is way to big Stihl say maximum bar length of 20" and you can see it's struggling with the size bar your running on it, I'd argue that if you're going to be cutting the quantity of wood you talk about get a saw from the professional range like the older Stihl 044 or 046 that will run that size bar all-day with power on tap

    Looks like the muffler mod 620 have the better chain on it. I had a Echo 590 befor the 620. The 590 had a muffler mod too and benefits a lot from it. Like the smaller echos that have a catalyst in the muffler. You need to remove the catalyst and then the saw wakes really up.

  • @Husqvarna575XP

    Most saws start better without pressing the decompression valve. I bet the 620 and 395 would fire right up after 2-3 pulls if you didnt press it. I mean thats my experience on the Echos. The Autotune saws also starts pretty good when its negative, but they start terrible when its hot and you have used them.

  • @Husqvarna575XP
    @Husqvarna575XPАй бұрын

    The 680 is a slow cutting saw for this type of ccm. I would recommend a 8 pin rim. Specially in soft wood its boost the cutting speed up if you dont run a very long bar. If you going to use 18-22" 8 pin rim is better. A few years ago I switched from Husqvarna to Echo and some Stihl saws because Echo didnt have a bigger saw in Europe than the 680 at this time. Later I switched my Stihl 461 to the Echo 7310. The Echo 7310 have better AV System, better Airfilter, better handling, less weight... The 461 otherwise have more ground torque. Overall I hoping Echo is continue their way with the new style, airfilters, design and cylinder ports the 7310 and 4310 have. Would be nice if they bring a replacement for the 501SXH based on the 4310 as a pro saw. Also something in the 90ccm range would be nice but I think they need to sell far to much saws so its not profitable for them to make bigger saws then the 7310. Thats why the still make the 1201 for country s that dont have emission regulations. The 1201 was designed in the 70ths as 1200 and got a light make over in the 2000. Mainly used and sold in countries like Brazil where they need a damn reliable saw and dont care about they weight so much. Also the 620 need an upgrade too. If you pull hard when the bar got stuck, the airintake can get a crack. Other than the crack in the intake, I never had an issue with the Echo's. Even after 2-3 years in service the didnt show much wear at all. The Autotune and M Tronic saws need to replace after 2-3 years as a full-time logger because they start getting worn out and the electronic trys to compensate it. At the beginning you wont notice because the electronic can compensate for it. When the saw starts to make wired things, its already to late. You will have some serious wear in the cylinder and piston, wear in the AV springs and mostly with Husqvarna saws, worn out bolt-threads. I never have a loose bolt on Echo or Stihl saws. Dont know why Husqvarna cant get it right. Thank you for making this Video. Its nice to see the difference. Top notch would be if you have had used the same bar and chain on every saw, but yeah that would be a lot of work.

    A airbox mode, muffler job, 15 tanks of gas, and tune really make these 2 wake up. A port and they are ass kickers, especially the 620. A 680 with all the mods plus a port and bored to 75cc would be so epic!

    Nice. What I do is combine 1 ounce of beeswax to 4 ounces of neats foot oil, heat it up in a pot, stir it, liquify it (don’t boil it), and pour it into a glass jar. In 15 minutes it makes an excellent paste which can be applied by hand to the leather. Works pretty darn good but it will soften the leather up some and change the color of the leather dramatically.

    Good video man! Nice improvement with the mods. Bottom line, Echo builds good saws, but they are more in a class of their own. They are very economical, strong & reliable, but they are never fast. Perfect option for the weekender heating his house, but not the best choice for someone trying to save some time while making a living. I recently had the opportunity to run my ported cs590 against a cs620p. Both wearing 28" bars, i was pleased to see the 590 beat up the 620 with 15% - 20% faster cut times. A little shocked as well because the 590 still has the stock coil & carb, it's just ported with a muffler mod. Just for kicks, i grabbed my ported 562xp and made the same cut and found it to be 45% faster.🤷🏻 All in fun. After that i did not see the need to grab either of my modded ms400's but maybe I'll do that the next time? Keep up the great vids & saw safe man!

    I got one as well. Super reliable. I've done some mild port work on the cylinder, piston. Ported out the carbureter to breathe more air. Adjusted the fuel a bit richer. Drilled out some hidden holes on the side of the cover. Did mufler work. Did spark advance. It really woke up. They are awesome

    Not a fan of Auto Tune on the 592 XP, I prefer adjustable, but to each their own. The X Series Echo are excellent Pro Saws. I have been Logging for mamy years, and it took my mechanic 2 years of ranting to get me to pop on the 620 and the 7310. Outstanding Saws, never thought I would like anything but Husqvarna.

    I think if you had not used the de-comp on the 620 it would have started quicker, I could hear that valve seal up the right before it started. My 365 X-torq starts in 3-5 pulls down to about -15c, beyond that I give it a couple pulls with the choke on and the ignition off for a primer. Not sure how much benefit there is on a saw, just a habit I picked up from starting sleds when its really cold.

    I dont notice that weight difference in a firewood saw, thus every time I've went to buy a 60cc saw I've walked out with a 70cc. Limbing with either is a bit of a chore, I sometimes use my 345 for that but a real sharp axe with a good operator can limb/ top green timber just as fast. Within the scope of firewood, I dont notice a few lbs felling and bucking. I like a saw with some low end grunt though, important to realize that we arent pro fallers, and what we need out of our saws can be a bit different.

    When they are stock, a 395 has nothing on a 592.. the 592 eats its lunch. But ported by a competent saw-porter? Well now the 395 shows who's boss! 11hp is easily attainable in a work-saw 395 whereas a 592 tops out at 10hp ported.
