We mustn't forget that there was a time when the Jedi were just the Jedi. Disciples, philosophers, "space monks" who merely followed the Force as a whole. They didn't separate light from dark and thus they hadn't yet experienced the first Schisms in their order. I feel like the whole thing we must think of is how the Force itself is not merely some power source that people tap into but akin to a conscious concept that is VERY aware and will often try to influence change to achieve this "balance." There's the fact that in real life, for life to exist, there must be death. And while destruction and death seems cruel, it's what allows life to sustain itself. To survive, the predator must hunt, kill, and devour their prey. And when the predator dies, their body provides nutrients to the ground which may grow plants that the prey may eat. Even a destructive force of nature like a forest fire is often a natural means to break open seeds so that new trees may grow or a volcanic eruption may destroy an entire landscape yet the soil of volcanoes is amongst the most fertile of all. Having played KOTOR 2 recently... I can already imagine you having a discussion with Kreia already about this topic and maybe coming close to a conclusion.
