    Very nice video. Well documented and thank you so much for no crazy camera shakes and music ovelay! Question: you tighted the thermostat housing for the aluminum kind at 89 ft-lbs! Just confirming things, per the manual, which is for the plastic housing OEM, its 10nm (7.3 ft-lbs) just confirming the differences because of product material. How/why 89 ft-lbs?

  • @kezug95

    My Bad! - you correctly said 89 "inch" lbs, which aligns more with 10nm or 7.3ish ft-lbs -- LOL!

    So once connected to adjust it correctly I need to run it 10-15 minutes to reach some temperature and adjust it? I have a s10 2.2 it was fan clutch so I buy this to do it electric fan. I think the temperature normally if like 195 when I see this if when I adjust?

  • @M3NACE
    @M3NACEАй бұрын

    Exactly. Needs to be up to temp and you want to let it cycle. If it’s adjusted too low the fan will stay on indefinitely when the car is up to temp, if it’s adjusted too high the car will begin to overheat before the fan turns on. You want a nice medium. When my car is up to temp, it will run the fan for a minute or 2, then stay off for a few minutes before turning back on.

    bushings and ball joints are different especially in that a bushing has virtually a 1 way movement and a ball joint has polymovement, axial movement, it helps to use correct terminology when ordering parts, good job finding it .. I think ther are 3 points on the rear suspension that need to be checked, upper control arm, lower control arm and trailing arm..

    On the e36 there is an auxiliary 2step fan switch on the right bottom of the radiator(for the fan on the front). I wired my fan with a relay and used the low temp trigger wire. The fan comes on at 95 degrees Celsius or something on the low trigger. Never had it run hot once

    Never put grease before putting in a bearing! use thin oil such as wd40 or so. grease will basically act as glue when time passes and it'll make it really hard to extract bearings and i had to get bearings out by destroying them because of that at my shop.

    little tip for the top bolts, take out the shifter and stuff and you can run a breaker bar through the hole where the shifter was for better leverage and less bending of the extensions

    Thanks for posting this. I just finished putting the 92 325is back together after replacing the head gasket. Not sure i bled the coolant system right the first time but followed this video and it should be right. Having a bit of an issue. After just a few minutes with the engine running, the temp gague was almost fully in the red. Even with the heater on full. I let it run a few minutes like that not knowing what to expect and hoping the thermostat would open. The upper hose was hot but the lower remained cold. I didn't want to take a chance, so i turned it off. Thermostat is new, water temp sensoris new. Any thoughts?

    *FYI* the diameter of the tip of the input shaft must not be greater than 14.8mm or else it will not slide into the bearing. The diameter of the tip of the clutch centering tool measures 14.75mm, so if you're not within that, you will end up with a 3/4"-1" gap to which you may not be able thread the bolts on as a means of pulling the trans in.

    Been going through your videos while taking apart and putting things back together on my 92 325is. In your head prep video you nebo installing the exhaust manifolds while the head is outside of the car. Did you make a video of installing the head with the exhaust manifolds? Any tricks or things to look out for? I've seen other videos andre they cut the heads off the old head bolts and use them as guides pins while setting the head into the block. My head has two short guide dowels. Are the long guide bolts necessary?

  • @M3NACE
    @M3NACE3 ай бұрын

    Dont need them to guide, the stock dowels work just fine for that. Pulling heads with the exhaust manifold on is my prefered way of doing it, it just can be extremely hard to do with the A/C compressor and bracket installed.

  • @DamonFeyOutdoors
    @DamonFeyOutdoors3 ай бұрын

    @M3NACE thanks for taking the time. Great to have someone out there that's so helpful. I tried removing the ac compressor, but after pulling all the bolts, there still seems to be something still holding it in place. It would spin and move quite a bit, but it seemed that something flexible was holding it to the block. I just booked it back in place before i damaged it

  • @M3NACE

    This video is legit. Keep in mind guys, sometimes you have to bleed it wayyyy more than you think. Took me 3 days of driving it around town, parking, cracking the bleeder screw, waiting for the expansion tank to cool, then topping off coolant. After about 10 cycles of that the bubbles finally stopped and finally coolant started passing through my heater core and giving me heat

  • @motorsportliving

    Both cams off or just 1 cam? If it’s both cams, then loosen the exhaust cam gear and set the cams and crank back at TDC, then re-tension the chain assembly on the side of the head, then re-tighten the exhaust gear then check timing again.
