My sister and I would watch the old Tarzan movies and we were memorized by the tribal dancing of these people. Little would I know that one day I would travel to Africa and see these tribal dancers with my own eyes!!

This is beautiful. So much was lost from the African continent. It's down to the modern generation to restore what was lost. The four giants are totally awesome.

I saw this movie one night by pure accident while flipping through the channels back in my first apartment. It came out on TCM, and I will never forget seeing this dance sequence and fascinated I was with it! Great movie, great dancing!!!

"i whip my hair back n forth i whip my hair back n forth." love seeing traditional african dance and how it correlates with todays dancing. when i taught at an all black school, i realized just how important dance is to black culture. my kids couldnt help but dance. they were just *always dancing.*

It was very thoughtful of the Film maker to include such a beautiful dance . The African continent had and has a rich cultural heritage. But for this great item, I wouldn't have known this fact half a century ago.

I finally realized watching this, that I literally go into a trance whenever I watch African dance... I don't know how but I felt at peace and wound up at the same time with him... with them all, and I was mesmerized.

Even Blacks in Africa have this infatuation with blond wigs but this time it's the men. Is this where it all started? But I love the dance moves and I believe the dancers after having seen themselves on video no longer have to wonder why their audiences have looked so captivated all these years.

The blonde wigs are culturally trying to mimic a lions mane. It’s the cultural dance in Rwanda. Where the Tutsi were a ruling class during the monarchy error.

As others have pointed out its to mimick the mane of a lion, these ones are overly long i think for the dance, while originally they were shorter and kind of stayed up instead of falling to the back making the warrior seem taller and more intimidating.
