    I think the series went through a bit of a funk during the dream arc (which I still enjoyed and have a fondness for since I discovered the show in my late teen years and that arc was the one in syndication) but I think 12-14 revitalized the show. Also Into the Cold is one of my favorite television series finales period. I loved every second of it. Also Archer, Barry and Katya at the end had me cackling.

    The only problem i have with the show is that after Archer Danger Island they no longer produced DVD's so I can not re watch them Streaming is too expensive. Not so much of a problem they did tend to drop off a bit.

    As a kid my favorite season arc was Neogenic nightmare, I’d love that season so much you Spider-Man cross that’s with the X-men, blade, sinister (but renamed insidious for some reason) six. That arc was the best in the series

    I still haven't started X-Men '97, I'm on my usual "waiting until it's finished so I can binge it" shit, but I believe it's finished now so I should be starting it soon! Yeah I agree, between stuff like The Boys and Invincible we have enough of the super violent superhero media, I'm glad '97 didn't go that route. Man, I don't remember any of this ending stuff from the 90s Spiderman. Dormammu was in it?? Damn. That's a good point, the SpiderVerse films have been covering all that well so it'd be hard to make this revival distinct without seeming like it's riding SpiderVerse's coattails, but it's definitely possible if done right! Anyway, great video as always dude! 👌Your version of Spiderman '98 would be excellent for sure, and if they make it happen I'd hope they'd at least follow something similar and not just go for cheap nostalgia bait and such. Here's hoping!

    Cringe video I clicked off as soon as you made this about woke vs anti woke get that brain rot out of here bro, you literally look like the epitome of someone who would make something like this, no matter which side of the “woke” argument you’re on. • @Dpw20001
    @Dpw2000111 күн бұрын

    I definitely think people throw the word "woke" out there too loosely thesedays but i also think modern movies in general aren't written with anywhere near as much passion as 70s films like alien was written with so certain things like female leads or a poc leading can trigger people into thinking its more of a political statement rather than just putting the talents of the actor/actresses first over their race,gender or sexuality!

  • @thegregnorton
    @thegregnorton11 күн бұрын

    I do agree to the point of film quality compared to earlier cinema, but that is a different point to the one I'm making. I'm talking about those who call media woke to profit off of, for lack of a better term, fesr mongering. The types who were calling x-men 97 woke before it came out, then got real quiet when it was a good show they couldn't turn nerds against. But again, I do agree with your point

  • @daiusmacrius
    @daiusmacrius12 күн бұрын

    Yup! I hadn't seen Alien before then, I'd only ever seen clips and such over the years from various films in the franchise so I wasn't sure what to expect, and I expected a lot of the iconic moments I'd seen to be from this film, not realizing that they might be from sequels, so I was surprised at that. Speaking of, my wife and I actually watched Aliens with her parents recently, so I now have that extra context as well. I think I expected her to be more of an action hero in Alien and didn't realize that came out more in Aliens, and similarly I didn't realize the original was more horror and the sequel was more action. Anyway, excellent video as always dude! 👌I'm glad we saw this in theaters, I'd never really experienced the franchise before so starting it off the way most people would have 45 years ago was pretty cool!

    I just watched this movie for the first time a couple days ago. It was the Final Cut, since I didn’t think about which version to watch. I loved the movie, but agree it didn’t need to be 3 hours. That being said, I kinda liked the French Plantation scene. It gave me a nice break from the horrors of the movie. That being said I can’t wait to rewatch using the theatrical cut. I wonder how much I’ll miss the added scenes.

    Lots of people seem upset archer and lana didn't end up together. Really? Archer has grown as a character in various ways but at no point did i think it was telegraphed that he would really go that way, and it isn't even really their story, it never has been. Malory was right when she said it was her and Archer's story, and him finding his own path in her absence seems like a satisfying resolution to me.

    Hi! Thanks for this newsy & So Accurate assessment! 57-y/o guy here, & I'm not sure if you're "getting" ALL of Archer...? It's loaded w/references to '70s movies & TV shows! Seasons 1-9 are the best (to me), b/c they capture these so well! I'm told Adam Reed was like that, however. Isis references "The Shazam-Isis Hour" ('73-4), & actor Michael Ray played Billy Batson (who becomes Cap'n Marvel). Babu was the name of a goofy genie in "Jeannie," a '73-4 cartoon (its opening credits are on YT, maybe some eps). The ocelot is a puzzle; I'm thinking it came from an earlier TV show called "Honey," based on a series of bks about a gal spy, who had one. S7 opens/ends w/Archer floating dead in a pool, a nod to the well-known film "Sunset Blvd." There's lots o' mention of "The Boys from Brazil," of course, & refs to "Planet of the Apes" ('68). When Pam whispers of Cheryl, "She doesn't remember any of it," it seemed like a line from "The Exorcist." S10, Archer: 1999, is a lift from a TV show titled "Space: 1999." There're also nods to "Charlie's Angels" in 1 season's ad breaks. S8 is a total nod to '40s detective stories (Phil Marlow & others, like The Big Sleep); it's a classic on its own! The show was just riddled w/refs to literature & otr shows.And it's funny! I laffed so hard at his baby's tattoo I blacked out! Woo-hoo! :-)

    The Theatrical version is really the best version...its the reason why great directors hire great editors, because it's just a much more compact, yet effective and enjoyable, masterpiece of a film. Yet more proof of how the 70s are still the best decade of film ever (and I need not list all of the films backing me up lol). To me, the Redux version adds nothing...it's fun to watch, but a distraction to the original. BTW, I REALLY enjoy the Workprint that's back out on YT, only because you can see the director's thinking process at different points/scenes in the film...a lot of it understandably needed to be cut, but it's fun to watch nonetheless. Where I think Coppola did BETTER was with The Godfather, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone...that is a MUCH better version than Godfather 3, namely with just a few cuts, but also by putting the 1st meeting about the Immobiliare deal at the VERY beginning of the film, before the big part, etc. It sets the proper tone for the rest of the film.

    This is actually a really good rewrite. But did you know that there was already like a story idea for X3 from one of the writers of X2? Originally we were supposed to get Emma Frost (written as an old fling of Xavier and was going to be played by Sigourney Weaver) and the Hellfire Club. Cyclops would've been a full fledged leader, building the danger room and training new members of the X-Men (which would've included Gambit). We would've gotten and epic battle between the X-Men, the Brotherhood, and the Hellfire Club fighting over control of the Phoenix.

    I ended up finding them through their shorts and then as I watched more of them, got recommended the fan compilations of favourite moments or "x out of context" which got me into watching the full shows on their site. I didn't even realise for a while that it was College Humour, at this point they have successfully branched off from the original channel into their own brand that a lot of casual watchers end up with the same revelation that I did. There's many reasons for their success but I think a notable one is that the people working there do seem happy there and it seems like a positive and accepting working environment. Of course it's a job but I don't get the same kind of vibes from something like what Smosh was doing up until Ian and Anthony became involved with the brand together again. The content preceding that felt like Dropout but with a gun pointed at their heads off-screen.

    Something I saw mentioned often was the cast size compared to Dropout. Watcher has a few famous faces that bring in viewers and they are needed for any content that they want to start! Dropout has famous faces but they also have introduced enough of a cast that you can enjoy videos without Brennan or Sam for example without them feeling missing!

    Ahh yes, been waiting for this one! Since we discussed it a bunch less than a week ago in person, I don't have much more to add here. I even read up on CH's history myself when I first got Dropout, mostly cause I was curious what happened since when I used to watch in the early 2010s that got them to this point. They definitely did it right, I remember starting to feel myself outgrowing their style of comedy back then, and I'm amazed at how well they've evolved. Conversely, Watcher clearly have a lot to learn. I was pretty floored at that video you showed talking about how they didn't even mention it in their Patreon livestream the day before, they even alienated their already paying fanbase, that's wild. I get that maybe they wanted to announce it everyone all at once, but still. Oh well, I'll keep enjoying Dropout cause they're doing it right, and Watcher, well, I guess we'll see, but I certainly ain't paying for that sub. Excellent video as always dude! 👌
