    First of all, huge congrats on all the interactions and everything recently. From a new player perspective I think lifeskilling is so looked down upon only because it’s the minority of players. Similar to red players, it doesn’t get enough love but should totally be a viable option that is atleast someone competitive market wise.

    Thank you so much! It really means the world to me to see so much positivity around my content. I do agree that lifeskills are in a similar boat to red players in the way that they have been largely forgotten by PA. Red players are at least a vocal minority though, since they are usually old players that picked the game up because of it's open world PvP promise, but have slowly lost that version of the game over time. To be fair, lifeskills are suffering more from just overall stagnation than outright being removed and heavily disincetivized like red players are, but they also produce less frustration than red players do since the fun of a lifeskiller doesn't come at the cost of the fun of other players.

    What do you mean gathering perpetually

  • @Luneyebdo
    @Luneyebdo5 күн бұрын

    Short explanation: To gather forever without having to wait for energy to recharge. Long explanation: People assumed that with the lifeskill merge, you would now be able to just swap between characters and gather on a different character while the original one recharges energy. According to them, you could cycle through all of your character's energy, and by the time you would be done gathering on the last character, the character you started on would have recovered their energy to the point where you could restart the process. I hope that helps. I could probably explain it a bit better, but that is the gist of it.

Can happen when you're streaming for long hours and are reacting to something you did no research on. What I personally find much more sad is that some people will then take his words (or any other streamer's for that matter) as gospel and just parrot it without any second thought. It's kind of why I put the numbers and the research I did into my videos, so that you have the same information as I do and can make your own conclusion.

    Was trying to explain this to a guildie a while back. I value energy as both a grinder and a hunter,so I don't always buy a vpack. Being on console,I can't stop very often and say "well that won't catch fire in 14 hours". I can say,even taking 3 rifles and mass farming,I've never ran out of energy actively hunting. Art 1+ on 3 chars turned into art 6 after the update,haven't been hunting since. I use my energy for node levels 95% of the time. 1% being my Shai,who I had parked at my gardens near a residence to cook beer/sailor stuffs with to save me the travel time.

    Thank you for the comment! Yeah I think hunting was the only lifeskill that really benefited from the merge. My hunter was a corsair because I wanted her to be the main lifeskiller and started hunting on her way before I learned that class passives work on hunting. Now I can switch freely to a mystic and her be the hunter instead. I also made this video because of guildies kind of. A lot of people thought that perpetual gathering would be possible with the merge, to the point where I guess through some type of game of telephone people started saying that it is.

    Should some life skills be buffed? Yes. Does your video show a complete lack of understanding of how life-skills in BDO and most similar games works? Also yes. Life skills can never be tracked in a per hour basis because at it's core it's a compounding system. Using hunting as an example. You go hunt for 3 hours, This is now part of your "per hour" for the remaining process. You go gather some other materials for 2 hours, This is added to the 3 hours from hunting to determine your per hour. Now you process your gathered materials into needed materials for further down the line (This is AFK so it doesn't go to your per hour). Next you go do Alchemy/Cook/Use worker on those materials (This is also considered AFK so it doesn't effect your per hour). Next you will either Box or sell the items (If you sell its that amount divided by 5 to get your per hour). Now you sell boxes (Again now it's amount divided by 5 to get the per hour). Did you make as much as you should have? Honestly I don't know the math. Basically grinding Yzrahid shows on Garmoth as 1.4 bil an hour with agris. So end game hunting should probably make around 1.1 bil per active hour to be fair. However I think it already does if I'm not mistaken. I've heard numerous people say LOML sniper hunting makes over a bil an hour. If this is true then end game hunting already makes about as much per hour as end game spots for less silver, less risk, and less difficulty.

  • @Luneyebdo
    @Luneyebdo9 күн бұрын

    Life skills can very much be tracked on a per hour basis, at least the vast majority of them can be and should be. The only two I would consider to not be trackable on an hourly basis are farming and trading. I still included them in both parts just to have them, but they are there just to give people an idea. What you are saying about lifeskills has a lot of holes in its logic, here are some of them: First of all, just because you are AFK doesn't mean that time stops. AFK activities absolutely can be tracked on a per hour basis. if what you said is true, then it wouldn't matter if I spend the hour processing flour or making deep sea elixirs. Obviously your silver will increase by a certain amount in a certain amount of time. That means that by dividing the silver by the time invested, you will get a "per hour" number. AFK activities absolutely go to your per hour, because if you didn't do any, your per hour silver would be zero. Second, lifeskills being a compounding system isn't really entirely true. Some lifeskills feed into others, but some have no relation at all. If you didn't judge gathering on a per hour basis for example, you would have absolutely no way to distinguish between mining and butchering. You wouldn't know which activity is the best or the worst. This is why you have to strip the lifeskills of their hangers-on and only look at them in isolation. Third of all, if it really was like you're saying, then none of the lifeskill tracking sites would include a per hour metric. Hell, bdolytics even has a box you can tick to tell the site if you have obtained the items yourself or if you're buying them and it will change the money per hour accordingly. Once again, if lifeskills couldn't or shouldn't be tracked on a per hour basis, nobody would do that. And hey, trading and farming doesn't do that. Fourth, what happens if you don't engage in the other lifeskill? If I hunt for an hour and then sell the meat instead of cooking it, does that mean I didn't make the billion that's in my pockets right now? Hell, what happens to the black gems, sharps, and other rare items I have been getting while butchering? Does that money also vanish? Fifth, I don't think anyone actually lifeskills the way you are describing. As far as I am aware, most people don't immediately go and cook/process everything they had gathered. They will stockpile it until later and then have a longer cooking/alchemy/processing session. If I play for two hours a day and during those two hours I only did hunting, does that mean that I can't count that money on a per hour basis because I plan on doing a two hour cooking session tomorrow that will use up materials from the last week? Sixth, what happens if I buy the materials from the Central Market? I didn't hunt for that meat or blood, so there is nothing to track there at all. Lastly, the same thing could be said about grinding. Every grindspot includes items that serve some other compounding system. Do you count the Serendia Elvia cookies as a part of your money/hr or do you count making the cups as a separate activity? Does it even count, since you create the cups by processing, which is an AFK activity? Same goes for infinite potion pieces, do they have value or not? Do Caphras have value or do you count it towards making your SO armor pieces? Do Black Stones have value since you use it in many different systems? If I do Dehkia Ash for five hours, get five bases and then get lucky enough for TET, does that make Dehkia Ash a 12b/hour spot? If I don't get lucky and those debos vanish, does that make the spot a 600m/hr spot then? Hell, you mentioned Yzrahid, if I drop a flame, does that mean I made 10b/hr there? Or does that item not count because I need it to make shoes. If we are going to accept that lifeskills are a compounding activity and should therefore not be counted on a per hour basis, then the only thing you can track from grinding is trash loot. I do know the math, I did it in the second part. And yes, you are correct, hunting does make that much per hour, give or take. This video is not me claiming that lifeskills should make more than grinding, not in the slightest. It's main purpose is to start a discussion, which it did, and I thank you for being a part of it.

    imo grinding for pots is a noob trap. they dont do very much when you can just buy pots every hour from an npc or tent for negligible silver. that is if you even need pots to begin with, some spots you can one shot the mobs and do very little damage to you, at worse with the new addons you can put hp and resource on hit on skills, or use spirit perfumes if you really need the mana. infinite pots are 100% a luxury item and not needed whatsoever.

  • @Luneyebdo
    @Luneyebdo12 күн бұрын

    Thank you for the comment! I do agree that the infinite potions are given a bigger weight than they really have. They are not a necessity as some people will have you believe, but they are a really nice thing to have. The main advantage is that it saves inventory weight. Of course you can work around them, but like I kinda implied in the video, it is better if you just grind them out and use the money you earn while grinding for the potion to get a gear upgrade, killing two birds with one stone.

  • @gurraglad
    @gurraglad9 күн бұрын

    I found the potions to be game changers. Made life in the game so much more convenient. I hated having to buy and think about potions all the time. I feel like some classes also become nicer to play when you don't have to care at all about energy/mana. Sure maybe I could probably use addons instead but this way I simply don't have to care, just enjoy the game. Also now with Family inventory having infinite mana potion on all my characters is so nice.

    Maybe there should be other perks to lifeskills instead of silver? Eg. crafting and using your own elixirs yields double the duration and 10% improved effectiveness. Horse trainers can force-learn/train a horse to learn that damn s:sideways skill at the cost of afk-training 24hrs, instead of swiping for it. Cooking can unlock a perma-cooking station that grants -6 sec cooking time reduction. And for the love of game-dev-logic, where is the missing extra manos tool equivalent for Alchemy and Cooking? Also they can buff lifeskilling just with one-click: UNDO all the debuffs it had over 5 years, including bartering... day 1 bartering was fun, no it's just a quest to unlock the 60$ pearl shop skin and then anchor it was the nearest wharf -_- At the end of the day. everybody spends time BDO, but to catch up on 5 years of grinding, lifeskill needs a buff, else other MMORPG that are focusing on lifeskills will poach the whales... yes, the biggest whales in BDO do lifeskills, else they would be poor compared to the tuvala timmy :P

  • @Luneyebdo

    Thank you for the comment! I think giving them benefits like that would only serve to cement lifeskills as a side-activity. There would be no reason to make elixirs if you're not going to use them, for example. Yes, we should get manos cooking/alchemy tool. There are very few, if any, MMOs that have as deep lifeskills as BDO has, will see if that ever changes.

But I think the main problem is that if you are a pver you have help in progresion like 2 pen acc guaranteed pen boss and more, so maybe have more progression like maybe a way to garantee 1 pen clothes and 1 pen tool, to make the make money a litel bit better for the new lifeskillers. for lifeskillers we get 2 floramos accessories which are equivalent to tri mans accessories. i dont agree with your idea of increasing lower mastery profit because the only way you could do that without indirectly buffing the profits of the endgame lifeskillers would be increasing the base amount you get from lifeskilling while keeping the mastery 2000 benefits the same ie. hunting bonus starting at extra drop rate equivalent of mastery 500 while mastery 2000 would stay the same drop rate. also the point of the family life skill update is to make it easier to level up anyways do by rewarding you for being low mastery it would go counter to their approach. i’m all for more free manos accessories because in my honest opinion the materials required to make them (magical shards) is crazy and kind of forces you to choose life skill or pve

  • @Luneyebdo
    @Luneyebdo16 күн бұрын

    There actually already exist some forms of "low mastery buffs" that don't effect endgame. Season gathering for example. Also, I proposed this idea in a different comment, but I think we are long overdue for some sort of "endgame lifeskill" spots. Imagine some sort of Narcion/Navarn Steppe-like zone that you can only enter at like 1800 mastery, that would drop new items you could make recipes from if you had that mastery. Not only would you give endgame lifeskillers something new to do and new ones something to aspire towards, but you would also fix the biggest problem of lifeskills, which is that no matter what mastery you are, you're still doing basically the same thing, just a bit better than you were before.

    I do a sweaty hour of herbs @ Behr everyday. Been tracking market value of items at the time I listed them (pencil and paper for roughly the last two months) and I am averaging (pre tax) 1.15 B @ 2k (T5 Hog). Agris would add about 70m if you need to burn some (this is a rough estimate as I do not use agris very often and it seems to mainly increase the wild grass drop numbers and the trash herbs). This number does not include fairy wings or the other drops you exchange for hards (or contribution) or make into caphras. This number also does not include the junk herbs or the yellow dust that are collecting in my container at Behr (I sell wild grass, everlasting herbs, sharps, fruits, gems) I keep the caphras but they are included in sell number. Herbs vary WILDLY day to day with my worst day being 680k and my best being 1.89 B. Good mini game procs are a large part of this variance, getting max caphras, gems, sharps or everlasting from the mini game vs not getting them is huge. My dirt patch tracking isn't as good but I would say I average 4 patches per day, this high average is due to the mini game. I get a 20 dirt patch proc about every two weeks. I always keep more than 20 keys in my inventory because looting 20 dirts - chests in the time allocated is very difficult and there is no chance of getting them all if I have to summon a maid. Market price variation plays a modest role in these numbers but I really can't even begin to estimate how much. People sleep on Behr herbs and I would prefer we keep it that way. :P

Got to the point where I want to give myself outlandish goals to maybe hit them one day. It's also really nice to share your secrets, even if behr herbs have been known about for years now, it's still rare to see gatherers, or lifeskillers in general, to talk about their activities, since that will only make them less money than if they kept it to themselves. Good luck in your gathering!

    Nice Video Series! I agree that Lifeskills not necessariely needs to do more money, i am more a fan of renewing the Content a bit. Like we had it in Terms of Minigames for Gathering, but i also think that some Lifeskills needs to get a little decoupled from the Marketplace , which are primarily Alchemy and Cooking. (just buff Imperial Delivery) For Trading i dont have high hopes anymore, i really just think *make a Impersonation of Bartering on Land* and thats basically it, but if you count in Crate Trading thats a whole other Story, since this is so hard to balance in the right spot, because you need to adjust Market price/availability Workers Nodes/Skills CP Cost effectivness.... the List goes on. Gear Progression is another Point that most endgame Lifeskillers struggle with, because its basically after Tet manos Acc/Pen Tools+Clothes...get a PO for Geranoa/Manos at Pen and...Good luck i guess? Again nice Series, keep up the good Work! BTW dont listen to Blue he is a bad Lifeskiller, cant even make Pen Manos Hunter Clothes KEKW

  • @Luneyebdo
    @Luneyebdo17 күн бұрын

    Thank you so much for the comment! I would even go as far as to say that we need new content for lifeskills. We have been gathering Balenos foxes and Valencia lions for how long now? All we really got was a new sniper hunting spot and the minigames, which are cool, but they're mostly a QoL update, since they just make gathering faster. The other lifeskill items added are generally not worth anymore. I am not the biggest fan making trading into just land barter. I think the lifeskill would lose its originality. I think leaning further into crates could be a fine idea. Alternatively, you could make it connected with the other lifeskills again, kinda like it used to be with the special trade goods found in gathering and coins from grinding, but that would require a lot of work. Yeah, gear progression is really bad. You're either waiting for months to win your pen geranoa lottery, or you're overpaying to get tet manos. This is again a sign of general stagnation, since there have been no updates to lifeskill gear for like 4 years now. Either give lifeskill gear another tier, kinda like SO that grinders have, or unlock more slots, for example lifeskill-specific weapons could be interesting. With those weapons, you could also make some kind of a PvE/lifeskill zone, akin to what Navarn Steppe or Narcion are, you could balance the content around these new lifeskill weapons and add challenge to lifeskills. Would be a lot of work to implement, but I think it would be absolutely awesome to see. I will talk about these ideas and some more in the third part of this series, since lifeskills might be decent money, but they are the definition of stagnation. I can't make Pen clothes either :(

    @Luneyebdo17 күн бұрын

    Absolutely no problem at all, I love talking with people here! I don't know that much about Teddy, other than that he got me to click my manos clothes xd I think we really should start considering increasing the mastery cap. Kinda rich coming from me since I don't have 2k mastery in basically any lifeskill, but I think it would be fair to the people who invested their time and money into lifeskills and make the gathering gear economy much better as well. I think you could have lifeskill tools that don't just increase mastery or exp either. They could do something like artifacts, so imagine multiple tools, where some have their regular stat increases, but then you get like a hunting tool that will increase the number of boss type mobs, a farming tool that would give you a chance to gather and breed crops at the same time, a fishing tool that would increase the rate of rare fish at the cost of slower fishing speed and vice versa, a cooking tool that would increase your cooking speed, but because you're less careful, you have a chance to fail your recipe. If you had good enough processing and alchemy, maybe you could get a tool that would let you transmute iron into gold or some other rare materials, etc. These are all just from the top of my head, I am sure that you would be able to find so many better ideas than me.

    Thank you for the comment! I left it out because to me, APM is a terrible metric to use for determining effort, much less so money/hr. As I said in the video, Ninja and Kuno require more APM than awakening Witch and Guardian, should they make more silver too?

  • @Pughhead
    @Pughhead18 күн бұрын

  • @Luneyebdo
    @Luneyebdo18 күн бұрын

    I will not consider APM because it's a flawed metric that Pearl Abyss themselves provably do not use when they balance the game. I have also said in the video that how active an activity is a metric in determining effort. Active meaning whether or not you have to sit at the computer and press buttons or if you can go away, make a coffee, or even sleep, while the activity does itself. I also genuinely despise the comparison of grinding to AFK lifeskills, because it completely derails the discussion. I don't think I have ever seen any lifeskiller, or a BDO player for that matter, say that AFK, or even semi-AFK lifeskills should make the same money as grinding. Nobody is arguing for cooking or fishing to make 2b/hr. Stop acting like they do. The discussion has always been about grinding vs. gathering and/or hunting. All three require you to be active, and there are way better ways to determine effort, or money/hr for that matter, than just APM (some of which I provided, such as the risk-reward and the setup/gear needed to even do that activity, which I think are better reasons and arguments for why grinding should be more money than just APM will ever be). Comparing grinding against any other lifeskill than these two is at best disengenuous, and at worst actively hurtful to the discussion as a whole, so please, stop doing that.

But thanks for your hard work, we need videos like these to keep the discussion going so PA one day maybe notices and does something.

    First of all, thank you for taking the time of your day to comment! Sadly, this is one of the few things I wish I could have changed before Blue's reaction. This video was never meant as an argument for why lifeskills should make more money. The series is meant to start/have a discussion on the profitability on different activities in the game, mainly grinding and lifeskills, and this video is part 1 of that series. Maybe the decision to split what would be a 60-90 minute video into smaller parts was a mistake, so I will have to think about this when I make future series akin to this one. As far as the arguments themselves go, this is probably why they seem to be weak. The only thing I am arguing for is where a given activitiy sits in a given metric. Think of this video as a sort of methodology for the future part(s). I should have made this more clear in the video, which is why I don't blame anyone if they got the impression of me just complaining about not making enough money. Once again, thank you for the comment, if nothing else, at least I succeeded in getting the word out there and sparking a bit of a discussion. Of course, I thank Blue as well, since his platform is much bigger than mine will probably ever be, so by reacting to this, he helped the discussion spread even further.

    The problem with watching a reaction first is that you adopt that reaction's opinion and misunderstandings. For example, Blue not understanding what the "active" metric means for the entire hour. And outright logical failures like responding to arguments that are not made in the video or going after "credentials" instead of the point being made (as if 2000 mastery or energy amount is required to have an opinion - 25:30 of his reaction video).

    @@kirinkirin2582 I did not really/fully adopts blue mentally and opinions. I disagree with some of the stuff he said and also what said and presented in the video. I tried to stay true to my opinion and insight. What I brought up as the biggest flaw I seen in the video is the lack of 'framework'. Also "credentials" important.

    This would be good for infinite pots, because that just takes a shit ton of time and I personally hate all those spots and ofc it's mostly populated too, because everyone wants them pots. So yes, this would be viable for that like you did in the video aswell, but it's a bit sketchy not gonna lie :D

    Speaking of spectrum, ....... Great points and nice work. I don't think there is any reasoning with the knuckledraggers though. I would wager that most lifeskills are harder than grinding, taking much more prep and knowledge through studying than 98% of grindspots. But that is exactly why they stick to grinding, it was way too hard and expensive for them in the first place to ever justify it, and even the forced lifeskills in the questline and journals left a bad impression with them. To them the quick strong hits of dopamine are far superior than the slow burn gets better as it goes type. Been doing lifeskills in BDO mobile. Game is so much better and more streamlined IMO. Feels more like what BDO was aiming for and it never quite got there.

  • @Luneyebdo
    @Luneyebdo21 күн бұрын

    Thank you so much for the kind words! I think both lifeskills and grinding are difficult in their own ways. Obviously everyone has their biases, but I am more interested in starting a discussion and seeing what people think, rather than the general yelling contest over which activity has it worse. I think I could have and definitely should have done a better job at explaining that part, since it led to a minority of people interpreting this video as me complaining that lifeskills don't make enough silver/hr. I will try to improve upon this in the next part. Never played BDO mobile, but heard some good things about it. I am glad you are enjoying it though, that's all that matters in the end.

    This is just way to one sided. You dont even look at how lifeskills are connected, like buffing gathering Drops is a buff to alchemy and cooking as well.

  • @Luneyebdo
    @Luneyebdo25 күн бұрын

    You are not wrong in them being connected. I will actually go through this in the next part, since this was simply about effort each activity takes and it is easier to explain if we take each activity in isolation. However, the idea that gathering buffs is an alchemy/cooking buff is a misconception. The very best case scenario gathering buffs have no effect on the other lifeskills, in most cases "buffs" to gathering are a direct nerf to cooking/alchemy. If we buff the number of materials dropping from gathering, that inevitably drives the price of those materials down. Since the materials are cheaper, everything that the given material turns into becomes cheaper as well, since people can now afford to make that recipe more easily/frequently, hence driving the finished product's price down as well. Now, if you only do cooking and/or alchemy and buy everything off the CM, you will most likely be making relatively the same amount of money. Since your materials will be cheaper, the profit margin on the meals/potions will stay relatively the same. This is kinda similar to gathering, since in theory, making 50% less on each material, but gathering 50% more of it, should keep the profit the same. However, if a material gets saturated enough to the point where you're selling for even 45% of what you were selling for previously, your profit actually goes down. The only way in which buffs to gathering drops are a buff to alchemy and cooking is in the way of being able to do cooking/alchemy for longer, which only benefits people with more time on their hands. It's the same example as the grinding to gathering comparison I did in the video. If you were making 600m/hr before and were done cooking in an hour, but now you make 300m/hr and are done in two hours, if you only play for an hour, you are screwed.
