Great lesson on how to read music. I used to play alto sax in high school which was more than 30 years. Nice to realize I haven't forgotten everything and some of the info are coming back to me slowly.
Thank you! It’s been a wonderful journey learning piano so far thanks to teachers on KZread like you!
Thanks bro
Wow I've learn way much more than from other vidoes ! Thank you so much ! ❤

So helpful thank you. 🙏🏽
Is it not the dissonant 9 that brings you out of key rather than the voicing? I don’t see how the voicing itself does much for the modulation (besides just giving the gm9 chord some space).
I think I love this
every good boy deserve fanta :fat animal can eat
So relaxing 😌😮💨
This tutorial is for real!
I am told, Play “Autumn leaves” in all 12 keys. Very daunting task! Like learning twelve languages. Good to focus on one key. Love this idea!
Even George Bush Drives Fast
Mr. Bradley, do you ever make use of melody reductions like Ed Byrne? I never read his books but I’ve heard him talking about this. It might have roots in Schenkerian analysis. The way I do it is find the notes that fall on or near the strong beats then making a kind of melody guide tone line out of them. It seems helpful for distilling the essence of the melody yet giving room for embellishments.
O . M . 😅😊😊😊😅😊😅😊😅😅😊😊😊😅😅 😅😅😊😅 😅😅 18:23 😅😅
Wow. Very fun and easy to understand. Thank you very much. I always thought it was magic
Nice ❤
Your illustrations for this educational piece is top notch ❤
Hey Julian, is there a certain chord identifier software you use in your chord progression tutorial videos? I would love to know how i can use that.
Hey thanks for your great video ! If you plan 2 5 1 in C major isn't is going to sound out of tune to add accidentals if you play with other musicians ? Also A7 is not in the C scale harmonisation so again won't it sound out of tune? Thank you very much !
Good stuff
Nice one.
Saya mau belajar piano jazz🙏
It’s so crazy how a lot of jazz is just chromatic movement with fifths that top it off with unique voicings that harmonize very nicely. Thank you for sharing!
Where did you come up with these, working them out on guitar now…
All Cars Eat Gas- All Cows Eat Grass Every Good Boy Does Fine
Yes!!, listened this a few times
Jazz is mostly HOW one reinterprets music. The tools are simply learning the language. Rhythm is the most impacting element.
Love it, Julian !
I don’t know what determines when to write a chord such as Gmaj7/A or A13sus4, same notes. Would it be the key?
Use the name that makes the most sense to you. Music is descriptive, not prescriptive. You can’t define a single label for everything because it all depends on context. With that said, your two chords are not the same set of notes. GMaj7/A - A G B D F# A13sus4 - A D E G B D F# Your A contains an E, and would in fact be a different chord from your G/A. Assuming we do remove that E, however, because there is no fifth, it’s ambiguous whether it is an A chord. The more it deviates from a standard triad, the more it might have morphed into another chord. You could just say it is an A without its fifth, or a G/A. It depends on the surrounding context, if it feels like you’re moving to an A or a G/A, and what makes sense to you. Again, use whichever name most efficiently describes the chord you are making.
There's usually multiple ways that you can write any chord. Different arrangers have their own preference. Personally I only touse slash chords as a last resort - usually when the chord I'm using doesn't resemble a regular chord (e.g. 7th, 9th, etc). For example, 'C maj / Db' I will write as a slash chord - because it's not a regular chord. Your Gmaj7/A chord would sometimes be written as 'A7sus4' - you hear that chord in 'Song for my Father' by Horace Silver. If you look at different sheet music online for that song - you'll probably see different arrangers using different chord symbols to describe the same chord.
Thank you Julian!
Thank you @kozmobluemusic!
Tasty brother!
Julian! glad to see you're still making KZread videos!
I've been in a season of lots of parenting - but I'm definitely still here.
Starts off with reference to the lick.. yes, a fellow person of culture

Is that a Genos Keyboard?
I learned with a teacher many years ago but didn't finish. I know the notes, the treble and bass clef (bass was always harder to remember for some reason) but playing by ear is a lot easier for me. The problem with playing by ear is that it's harder to know the chords and bass clef as opposed to just the right hand notes (at least for me.) The bass clef has just always been weird to memorize and hear and I don't know why.
sounds like a variation of smb3 overworld theme world 3 or 7 or so
This is so good!
Quando il maestro esegue il Db7 mi sembra ci sia un Bb come quinta al posto del Gb .
boa aula
Hi thanks for the very clear video. But 'Unexprected error' when I tried to download the 'Chord Symbol Guide'
A profesor said to my class once "all of jazz theory fits into one side of an A4 paper". We were all dumbfounded, even some other profesors who were present, yet no one could counter his point.

thank you so much for all the work you put in this lesson
At the start of the key signature section, how do you read which one is f sharp or c sharp?
At there other flats?
are there other sharps? Or just f sharp and c sharp?
why c sharp?
