    What’s crazy that you didn’t mention is that you don’t keep the avid complete plug-ins after your perpetual expires, like the pro dynamic multi comp, other inst and many others that I can’t think in the top 😞 so if you don’t have the intention of renewing you better have 3rd party plug-ins to mix like Waves, Fab filter, even tide, sound toys,! Just saying

    If my school purchased an annual subscription through avid’s website, but I’d like to upgrade that subscription to a perpetual license. Is there a way I could do so through a third party reseller?

    Hello! Here's what I'm seeing and I could be wrong here.... and all of this could change at any time. I'm looking at the Avid Price list right now and I don't see an Upgrade or Crossgrade sky from Subscription to Perpetual. I don't think it exists. If it was purchased at Educational pricing then the answer is no, there's not an upgrade to Perpetual that I know of. You'll need to just purchase a Perpetual license. Also, I don't think Perpetual licenses are available at Educational pricing. Yes, you can purchase a Perpetual license (or Subscription) from an Avid reseller. Dont' take my word for it, ask your Avid reseller. Jon

    Yes, if you have a full size qwerty keyboard it's the "Enter" key in the Numeric Keypad section. If you don't have a full size qwerty keyboard, on Mac it's hold the "fn" key (in the lower left corner of the keyboard and hit "Enter" (Return).

    ok thank you but strange that the breakpointline is still straight when you are doing this and not changing its ramps is there a reason for this? Also what if when I have a section that has a very sudden automation change like lets say a guitar solo comes in the rhythm guitar needs to suddenly (but not light speed suddenly) go a 1db lower in volume... or for a wellness program when bass comes in and i wish to then at that point have the bass removed from the vocal. The problem is the steep automation breakpoint changes which in digital audio result in a tick sound during the sudden change. I cant find anything about making those quick changes at lease withh a less steep ramp. Doing it with the pencil or line tools is too much work i wish for the write-in automation window to do this. is there any way?

    Great video, nice and simplified. Wondering if you can help me, I have a made a session for myself using this same routing, and my issue is with the 2.0 downmixed print bus. Whn the downmixer aux channels are unmuted, signal seems to double, driving the print track into the red. When muted, monitoring and printing are perfect and reflect my mix properly. any insight as to what could be happening?? routing is 5.1 print bus, to 5.1/2.0 downmixer aux, to 2.0 mix Print track to Main output

    Ok, very little help on this on YT> No matter where my selected clip is, it begins at the beginning of the track - and doesn't record until the selected clip - why. Pre roll makes no difference. Nothing makes any difference at all. Yesterday - did not have this problem. Then I was working on tracks (and punching successfully) and pro tools crashed - suddenly none of this shit works at all. Also I lost all my progress. Should i switch to another platform? Logic maybe? Reaper?

    Yes, I hear what you're saying... At the top of the Pro Tools Edit window, right below the Zoomer Tool (Magnifying Glass) is the "Link Timeline and Edit Selection" button. Make sure it's enabled (blue). That should make playback start at your cursor location.

    Thank you for the quick response! Sincerely! I had all of this set (set it and forget it) and it seemingly went away and I was lost after the crash. After a year of fooling with this I couldn't even remember how to do this basic step. Maybe there should be a series of videos on "if you are a moron and can't use pro tools here's what to do" would be helpful. I was so irritated after an hour of fighting this I can't even play the shit I wanted to fix anyway. Maybe another day, but thanks for the tip. That helps. I'm still just not sure how your basic settings go away after a crash. @@protoolsservices9816

    Thank you! You created at SMPT output 5.1, but all your metering once you got started reverted to Film. Your master is showing LCR, not LRCLFELSRS -- your output meter on top doesn't match the master fader meter... is that normal?

  • @skipstream2
    @skipstream27 ай бұрын

  • @protoolsservices9816
    @protoolsservices98167 ай бұрын

    Yes, you are correct and yes, this is a confusing "function" in Pro Tools, for sure. Technically, Pro Tools operates in "Film" mode (L,C,R,Ls,Rs,Lfe) under the hood. You can re-arrange the output path(s) to be SMPTE (L,R,C,Lfe,Ls,Rs) or what ever format you want but the format internally within Pro Tools does not appear to follow that change, as you've pointed out. So, unfortunately the Output metering at the top of the Pro Tools Edit Window as well as the path layout in the Pro Tools IO Setup window/Bus tab will show Film format regardless of the format configured in the IO Setup/Output tab. Hello! Short answer is, I don’t know. The longer answer is it could based on specs but it depends on the size of your projects, etc. Since it’s a Windows machine it will have to run as an external CPU Dolby renderer as opposed to running the Dolby Renderer software on the same computer as Pro Tools. This requires a dante or MADI connection between the two CPUs.
