  People only see this mission as the first clue Reznov was KIA. The truth is all here. Mason is the defector. He needed an alibi for the dossier to cover Kennedys job. Mason had an out of body experience when he eliminated the nva soldier. Then "reznov" takes over. If reznovs programming worked, why wouldn't the other too? Mason did Kennedy, 100%.
