Welcome to Historsea - a maritime history channel where we’re going to dive into the history of all things related to sailing, the sea, and maritime travel hosted by Tim from the Sailing channel Lady K Sailing.
The blue jays started all me wars and are ultimately responsible. Heck is waiting and will not be denied.

Every time we build the greatest, the mighest, the largest ship, it finished on the bottom of the sea.

"...and it sank", not "...and it sunk". Sank vs. sunk - Sank is the past tense (e.g., the ship sank to the bottom of the sea). Sunk is the past participle, so it’s used in the perfect tenses (e.g., the ship has sunk to the bottom of the sea) and as an adjective (the sunk ship is at the bottom of the sea).

Brings back memories. Party line in rural America, you had to pick up the hand set and listen to make sure your neighbors weren't on the line. Four to five homes using same lines, different numbers but same line on poles. How about calling our teenage romantic interests, remember ending the call? "You hang up", "no, you hang up first" back and forth.

You are incorrect in saying that the escarpment is a result of sedimentary rock being thrust up due to changes in the crust. The sedimentary rock that makes up the escarpment was exposed due to glacial erosion.

I watch this with special interest. I was just selected yesterday as crew for my first Chicago to Mackinac. I'll be on an Olson 34. At 72 years, I sometimes wonder if I have always been crazy. Then my friends remind me that this is only a knew insanity that aligns with my earlier insanities. What can I say? A friend offered an opportunity. I highly recommend that your response to any opportunity should be. 'Yes!'

Great video… just a thing. You’re a well educated person, and you make great educative content, you should maybe switch to the international standard of metrics. (Or include it s alongside the us system) So by watching your videos people would also be slowly familiarized with the scientific international standards 😊 It’s how amazing people like you can contribute to help people becoming more close to each other by educating them to understand the standards validated and shared by all the scientists of the whole world 😀 It’s how you can contribute to make the world a better place.

I did the race 4 times on a Tartan 10--generally the smallest and cheapest boats on the race. One year, we were transporting the boat back to Chicago, leaving Mackinac Island when "Windquest" the giant 88-footer (at the time, previous version of the boat shown at 8:31) came up behind us. As they were passing, we yelled to her delivery crew, "hey Windquest, our captain is so cheap he won't buy us beer! You got any?" They gave us a thumbs up and the 88 foot Windquest did a 360 around our little boat, came up on the starboard side, and threw us a 12-pack of Bud Light.

I'm not by any means a naval expert, but I call bs on the offical findings that the hatch covers weren't properly fastened. From everything I've heard and read, those men were an experienced crew, and there's no way that they would have gone into bad weather with the hatch covers improperly fastened. And I'm pretty sure that Captain McSorley would have made sure that everything was in order. It sounds more like the shipping company needed to lay some blame, and it was convenient to imply that the crew may have been a bit sloppy...dead men can't answer back and defend themselves. A lot of other Great Lakes sailors didn't believe that story, either.

The earth is not millions of years old , The earth is around 6 thousand years old , Evolutionist say the earth is millions of years old because , it is the only way they can make the theory of evolution work , because otherwise evolutionist’s lies do not make sense ! Monkeys did not evolve into humans , if they had when did they stop evolving ? Why aren’t there any half monkeys and half men ? If evolution were true then they would be all over the place ! The fact is , Almighty God Created Everything That Is , and the King James Version of The Bible proves it ! Start with Genesis and learn the Truth for Yourself !

Because you followed some of the lesser known occurrences you held my interest past what I thought would be the end of the individual stories. There’s also the lead up to the subject that helps connect events showing cause and effect. Great extra details for those who’ve often seen most of the story and get an unexpected surprise due to your extra research.👍👍

Love the 12 meter and America Cup glass of boats, I really believe these new "flying boats" have taken the beauty and crew work away from the Cup. I still follow the America's Cup but long for the old days of real sailing.

I’m from Binghamton NY. One of the few major towns in upstate New York that isn’t along the Erie Canal. It is where the Susquehanna and Chenago rivers meet making it a center of commerce and trade (even today but by highway and rail) It’s amazing to see how repurposed towns can be

The great contribution Tesla made with a/c (alternating current) was the introduction of transformers that could increase the volage and thus enable the distance power could be transmitted and then transformed back down to a useable voltage for industrial and domestic use. Tesla envisioned wireless power transmission but the closest we have come to that is mobile phones, radio and television.

I don't know...I disagree that we will likely never see another vessel as large. I'm pretty sure that someday someone will get it in their head to create much larger vessels. Even floating islands for permanent habitation, launch platforms, exploratory vessels, etc.
