The Gallaudet Bison athletics department is a NCAA Division III program that competes in the United East Conference for most sports while also a member of the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference, Colonial States Athletic Conference (track and field) and the Atlantic East Conference (swimming). Gallaudet University, the world's only university with programs and services specifically designed to accommodate deaf and hard of hearing students, was established in 1864 by an Act of Congress, and its charter was signed by President Abraham Lincoln. #GUBison #HomeOfTheHuddle

I was there when they filmed this, really cool to see they used actual students and staff, instead of actors

Where’s the feed of the meet?

Don't deaf people already have a quick and easy way to communicate? SIGN LANGUAGE?
Can we all just admit how badass of a shot that 0:37 is
Okay glad I'm not the only one that thinks that shot was Superrrrrrr tough
I just can’t get over how they butchered the song into some urban gospel crap
lol, could they have made this any more on the nose?
❤Awe great commercial my son attended Indiana School for the Deaf and he played football and basketball. I loved watching him play. So interesting how the coach not just signed but got players attention. People forget they are just like any other football player they just hear. They love game and if nothing else more lean tuned in to every moment. Awesome watching my son and his team mates play.
Outstanding commercial, an Incredible invention of the G5 helmets, and The singer Amira, not only has a beautiful vibrato, she is also hearing impaired!! Bravo AT&T, Well done! 🤟
Wow! Way to to butcher a great song. Why she singing it like that! Fucking disgusting
My Daughter's College Softball Team played Gallaudet @ Gallaudet. The entire experience was surreal. From the time we drove on campus, and throughout the game, played in quiet except for city sounds, it was truly eye opening.
Wow, saw this right now during cotton bowl, absolutely profound!!! All Class AT&T
Why do they need to make these commercials so f-ing annoying! It's not the commercial per se,... it's the way the song is sung. Shit is annoying. Thank goodness for the mute button!
I used to love this old Simon and Garfunkel song!! Too bad it doesn't remotely relate to the commercial message. I really hate when commercials twist the meaning of an old song, taking lyrics completely out of context with the song. This was a very meaningful song that really spoke to the time that it was created. It actually pisses me off when I see the commercial. Spoiler alert, the song has nothing to do with actual deafness. It was a very powerful song written n 1964. In the commercial they skip the 5th and 6th line, which would make it out of context with the commercial Lyrics Hello darkness, my old friend I've come to talk with you again Because a vision softly creeping Left its seeds while I was sleeping And the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains Within the sound of silence In restless dreams I walked alone Narrow streets of cobblestone 'Neath the halo of a street lamp I turned my collar to the cold and damp When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light That split the night And touched the sound of silence And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more People talking without speaking People hearing without listening People writing songs that voices never share No one dared Disturb the sound of silence "Fools" said I, "You do not know Silence like a cancer grows Hear my words that I might teach you Take my arms that I might reach you" But my words like silent raindrops fell And echoed in the wells of silence And the people bowed and prayed To the neon god they made And the sign flashed out its warning In the words that it was forming And the sign said, "The words of the prophets Are written on the subway walls And tenement halls And whispered in the sounds of silence"
Great commercial but I don’t understand the technology. How can you read something so close to your eye? Maybe I can’t because I’m old. Just seems like a proximity issue
This commercial moved me! The tech inspired me, the people that have access to it scared me! I can see a hacker, teammates or crooked coaches giving the password or access to competitors and then benefitting in some way all for the sake of a win. Far stretch, I know but anymore, you never know.
I cannot stop the tears! Wow AT&T! The innovation and teamwork to help those with hearing issues live their dreams is incredible! Well done..and what a great gift to humanity! Cannot wait to see the ways this technology is used! True American Spirit!
I've had a curiosity about ASL since my sophomore year in high school when our new English teacher had us learn enough to do a short report in ASL in from of the class. When I was student teaching in college, the 3rd grade teacher I was paired with tasked me with instructing the class on a new subject and I taught them the signed alphabet. It was super cool to see these kids, some of whom are ESL learners, pick it up. We then had a short word spelling bee using only the signed spelling.
They play this commercial way too much on discovery Plus. It's a beautiful, touching commercial but they need to add others into the rotation.
I used to love this song .
Name?
I don’t mind the commercial but its over played like 3 times in a row really don’t need it played over and over again
I love the song! Who sings this?
This is FUCKING AMAZING to see a company reach and dear to reach such AMAZING ABILITIES TO HELP A QB AND HIS TEAM RALLY TOGETHER due to AT&T REACHING NEW HIGHTS
Great ad. Bad version of the song.
Every single time I see this commercial I Cry. So awesome
Please stop running this every 2 seconds. I USED to like this song. But you wore it out.
welcome to the media for the past 30+ years. The force feed all commercials and songs that they want us to hear and see down our throats and theyve been doing it forever.
I'm so in awe of this!!! I've taught myself ASL, went to school to be an Interpreter and now teaching my classroom full of toddlers how to use sign language. The Deaf community and Gallaudet has always held a special place in my heart. Wonderful!!! Just amazing!!
Marlee Matlon, what does the scouter say about his power level?
Anyone else get super annoyed that the last note is sharp?!
Aired during Trolls and Trolls World Tour.
But the original team was Colorado buffs… what happened to that commercial

I hope this comment won't get taken down for swearing, but if anybody I know doesn't think this is the tightest shit, then they can get the fuck outta my face.
How/whom do I contact to get one of these helmets for a high school player?
Why is this beautiful version of Sound of Silence not available in iTunes?
I found it! The artist is listed on iTunes as Amira Unplugged.
I am so glad you both liked it <3 <3 @@courtneyadams7081
It is now <3
This version of the song is by AMIRA UNPLUGGED
It’s awful
Ok, so I have tears in my eyes. This is an amazing and powerful commercial. Well done AT&T, well done indeed. 🥲🤟
Dont get me wrong heart frlt commercial. But if you're trying to get his attention couldn't you just put a buzzer on him to look to the sideline?
Then the coach’s signing the play would be visible to anyone on the field, including opponents.
@carolpadden497 let's say the QB isn't deaf and the coach yells at him to call an audible. Wouldn't yelling also draw attention from the opponents? Don't get me wrong this this looks like an awesome product and I understand the PR angle. But just seems like the more cost effective ways
Goooo Bison and Coach Chuck!!
I like the song selected.
Just saw this. I got chills and my eyes welled up.
Same here my friend, same here.
Lol. They want this is in all helmets, they want that money. They can try to pass it off as a good deed for the hearing impaired all they want .
Welcome to commerce. It's a win win. Get off your high horse. There was a need. It took an enthusiastic capitalistic company to do it. Quit whining.
@@jonahlemley5243I wouldn't say there was a need. In fact Deaf teams have been beating hearing teams at all kinds of sports for forever without any fancy technology. Also the football huddle was actually invented at Gallaudet. This commercial makes it look like "Oh poor deaf people, they were so disadvantaged before our wonderful technology" but in reality they were doing just fine. ~:~
Put a face shield on the helmet to protect from hands pushing that into his eye
I just saw this commercial and cried. I grew up learning sign language in church and definitely have a special place in my heart for the deaf community. This meant so much to me. Congratulations on something so special and spectacular! Thank you AT&T for the innovation!🤟
What does it read on their jerseys ?
@2mrrcc I am not sure but I think it read bison
This commercial is so dumb. Being deaf doesn’t make you stupid. Turn to the left just like every other QB that can’t hear over the crowd……so now being deaf gives you an advantage? Cool, I’m going to make a whole team full of def kids and give them these helmets. Boom, no more crowd 🙄
